This is a video tutorial that shows how to save hardware specefic preset templates with the proper audio and midi routing for quick recall inside of Maschine
This is sort of a follow up to the tutorial where I showed how to sequence external synths in Maschine
This allows you to have these templates ready to go inside of your browser so you can quickly pull them up and play your external synths just like you would any vst or instrument in your library
I really wish we had an external instrument type of module that could handle midi/audio in the same channel for external gear, but for now this works for me.

Good Tutorial. Time to setup the Fantom X6.
Yessir doc, get that thing rockin!
Nice Fam
No doubt fam, thanks for watching.
Wooooooow Joe, this is insane….. When I saw the vid title I said Oh, oh here we go lol This is dope because it makes me wanna use my hardware again. The main reason why hardware started turning me off was because of the process of getting Maschine to recall the settings. One thing I still hope for in the future is Maschine being able to remember the midi as well as the audio, so when you save a session you can recall all your sounds without having to resample them back into Maschine. This will do for now though!!… Read more »
Yeah I’d love to have Maschine remember/save program changes and bank change information fam, but for now, I rock it like this. And for hardware that has it’s own editor, it recalls the patch for me. But yes, being able to save that midi patch data (program change) will be dope!
Have fun man!
Clever! It never would have occurred to me to try this. Thanks for the great tip.
Indeed, I’m always looking for creative ways to work with different tools and gear! Gotta integrate my hardware in the most efficient manner possible, for now, this is it 🙂
DOPE !!! Everybody gonna have hardware,,,lol
hahahahahahaha LOL
I needed this… I’m blowing EWI wind instrument into Sample modeling’s Mr. Sax (Kontakt instrument)… this video and the previous one are the kesy to setting everything up as a VST2.4 inside Maschine, not sure, but I think your instructions can be mod’d for Ableton & Sonar… ‘preciate all your hard work SJ!
Yes, will work with ableton/sonar as well. MMMM I need that Mr. Sax and the sax brothers fam, how you like it?
Damn SJ,
I have been trying to convince my self to get rid of all this hardware, now it looks like I am going to be keeping it.
hahaha, and you got some goodies over there bruh!
Man i love ya’ll.Thats why i had to hurry up and get back here.
Welcome back D!! You always got a spot here bruh!
hey SJ
I am trying to apply effects to my tx81z which i am triggering via midi can t seem to get it to work any ideas??
cheers
g
yessir, try this
https://maschinetutorials.com/how-to-apply-fx-when-sampling-into-maschine
so i would have to record it in than apply effects after ?? – is there anyway to do this live which playing the synth so i can get a feel for the effect and record in real time?
no you don’t have to record it first, watch that video, you put the fx module after the input module so you can play it with your fx, etc.
tx81 is playing in thru midi in on sound 1 (no sound if i try to go ext 3) out the effect on sound 2 but the sound remains the same??
you should have your hardware hooked up to your interface through an input module so you can hear it, and that’s how you apply fx. Midi is just the data, if you want the audio, you need to route it back into Maschine. Did you set it up like I showed in this video? With a midi out and an in input module?
i have tx81z coming into input 3 on my saffire pro24 i have pad 1 set to input ext in3 pad2 is set to midi out channel 3 on the saffire is registering a signal and i can hear the synth?? but when i put effect on pad 2 sound 2 nothing changes – clearly i’m doing something wrong ???
Put the effect on pad 1, after the input module, where the audio is coming in at 🙂
that may be the problem when i switch to pad 1 it lights up but no sound comes through – sound is only heard when i m on pad 2 (midi out??)
yes, you will only hear the sound when you actually send midi to it, to get around it, you could put the input and the midi out pad into the same pad link group
at least that way you will be able to hit the pad and adjust your fx at the same time 🙂
i’ve linked em but no dice gonna give up for today thanks for trying really appreciate all the help you give the fam kudos to you bruv – think i’ll need a step by step tutorial lol are other people struggling with this ??
I just tried it, remember, pad link is only from the pads, it will not work from the keyboard.
I linked my input module and my midi out module in the same pad link group, then I could be on my input module and adjust my fx while hitting the input module pad to trigger my sound 🙂
which one was the master and which the slave ?
You can make them both master or just make the input pad master
wicked got it – thanks for your patience and support !!!
Awwwwwwwww yeah!!! Good news man, I knew we’d get it 🙂
NICE!
I should probably make a video showing this huh? I think I will, glad to help man!
sure theres others are struggling like i was – do it up u da man !!
Yeah man, it’s a good little tip, can’t assume anything man, I think it will make a nice quick lil video 🙂
i have my blowfeld’s midi in port going to the midi out of my m-audio axiom 49, then i have the blowfeld usb to my laptop, and it is communicating fine with Maschine studio (blowfeld’s XLR outs are going into my interface). i can play a pattern, hear play back, but I don’t see the correct options to sample it internally. Maschine 2.0’s inputs and outputs look diff than the tuts on the older software, so it’s hard to trouble shoot. Also, the other pads on the group are entering midi, if I go lower in the octave range (the… Read more »
To sample the audio you need to run the audio output from your blofeld into your audio interface. I have a video on the audio/midi settings in 2.0 as well, it’s pretty much laid out the same way. https://maschinetutorials.com/maschine-2-0-understanding-the-midi-and-audio-configuration-menu/
i just figured out how to sample the audio. only problem now and it’s not really a problem, just annoying, is that some notes i play are showing up on the other sounds in the group. they are all muted notes bc the slots are all empty and muted but i don’t know why those notes are showing up. then i have to delete them. on maschine 2, i had to set the output of the blowfeld channel that i was recording midi to Group, it’s midi output to blofeld out, it’s midi in put to all ch 1, and… Read more »
Do you have group midi input turned on, that may be the reason you’re getting the extra notes? Are you using a blofeld keyboard or module?
ok, i just confirmed for me on the duet 2, those are the only combination of settings that work for me, to record the audio after it’s sampled in. i can get midi data in with diff settings but the settings i listed above are the only ones that sample the audio. phantom notes still play occasionally on the bottom pads though. i just delete them and everything is good but I would like to know the cause of it.
yea, it seems to be turned on from all my experimenting. should that be set to none? i just have the module.
yup, thanks for the help. that was it!
Cool man, glad to help 🙂
now the audio sample that i capture from the blofeld will plaly in the sample editor view but not when i draw one long midi note for it and press play. i did the drag and drop of the audio file to my desktop and there is no audio from that note in the grid either. it only plays in the sample editor window.
Does it play when you hit the pad? I usually put mine on adsr and then draw the note in so it will stop whenever I stop the sequencer instead of playing the whole thing
the midi pad will play the pattern but the pad on the audio will not. it’s only playing in that little sample box on maschine 2.0 sample editor. i also can’t find the adsr setting now on 2.0.
found the adsr but of course it doesn’t help bc there is no sound on the pad.
Is it the first take in the pad? Can you edit the sample? Can you drag it to another pad?
yup, i can normalize and cut the sample. it is the only take in the pad, and I can drag the audio and drop it in another pad too. still no sound. when i drag it to my desktop, no sound too.
save the project with the sample and email it too me, I want to take a look, maybe I can find the issue.
where is your contact email?

Hey sj This video, and a few others show half on my ipad. Luckely enough, most of your action is on the left of the screen 🙂 Does this work the same on maschine 2.1? Not at home atm, so can t check. . I finally got my tanzbar working like it should after your sounds to midi advice, yesterday. I’so stoked now LOL I don’t understand why but it worked suddenly. After checking the settings it didn’t.. Problem to solve is, to keep it working, i needed to reload the earlier project. anyway. So a “midi” setting-save would be… Read more »
I think it’s the old embed code, anytime you find one let me know and I’ll get it updated for ya. We have so many I must have missed updating some 🙂
Process is pretty much the same, though you could probably do it with a single sound since you have audio input and midi output on one pad now.
Hey stjoe quick question. I have a Emu planet Phatt that i pulled out of mothballs after watching yours and Knocks videos on the subject. I found it to be very useful. Everything as far as setup and getting going has gone pretty much great. I was very intrigued though with editor/librarian portion of the video, and i was wondering if you have worked with MidiQuest and if yes how does one get Maschine to recognize it. BTW I tell all the old and new heads that i work with about your site and the very excellent customer service you… Read more »
Haven’t messed with that one before, is it a plugin or a standalone app? I think it’s pretty old unless there still updating it?
It’s suppose to be both a plugin and a universal midi editor librarian that has 500+ instruments from akai and alesis to roland, korg and yamaha
sorry forgot the link https://www.squest.com/
Yeah I’ve seen it before I just never used it myself.
