those of you that are familiar with the various hardware samplers, know that a regular feature of using them was sampling through the internal fx. Sometimes you wanted to sample through the filter, eq, distortion, or whatever.
With Maschine it’s also possible but not as straight forward on how to get the fx in between the sample source and maschine’s sampler
In this tutorial I show how to use our trusty input module to allow you more control over the tone and character of your samples
I find that sampling with the fx applied gives you a different character and feel than applying the effects in realtime after the fact.

now does that work with the pitch fuctions also? can i pitch it up and down befor i sample?
I was messing with a few pitch things and it seems to work, but it depends on the effect, I’m still working on that one for ya!
Shame on you for not using guitar rig 4! Lol
ha, you saw it was right there lol, I hadn’t opened amplitube in a while, looked interesting lol
Nice. I was always adding my effects after sampling but this will help my workflow if I want to preview & commit to a certain effect before sampling.
Great video.
no doubt fam
Can you daisy chain multiple FXs (on the input receiving from an ext source) to sample and simultaneously use the three other FX slots on the same sample??
Producer Stylzkeyz
yessir 🙂 you can send the sample through a whole group of fx one after the other then just tell maschine to sample the whole group.
Thats just stupid!! Wow!! Man Im glad I bought Maschine! Thanks… Off topic tho.. How do you sample youtube videos with Maschine? I thought I caught Knocks sampling one.
Producer Stylzkeyz
you have to have a soundcard that supports sampling streaming audio, what soundcard do you have?
Im on a Macbook pro 17 inch….
Producer Stylzkeyz
You can use soundflower on the mac to do it.
Ok Thanx SJ
Producer Stylzkeyz

I hear Jacks is anotha program option. Have you heard of it?
Producer Stylzkeyz
jack audio is horrible, well at least on pc, def go with soundflower if you really want that option. or just sample from your phone/ipod
Wow… Ok thanks SJ for the heads up.
Producer Stylzkeyz
no doubt bro
Man you are a Guru thanks for the video.
glad to help man, thanks for the support
I dont have the plugins option listed under the FX tab, do I need to update to version 16?
yes, only 1.6 allows the use of plugins, highly suggest upgrading to this version.
hi,
how can i apply a simple reverb on my slices please ?
Just go to the group or pads you have your samples on and load an fx in the slot. If you have a pad with a slice, load an effect on module two
if you have a whole group with slices, go to the first module in the group and load the effect
it seems i sampled with “Apply” and not “Apply to”.
I was redirected to piano roll directly.
But when i apply the FX, it apply it to all the pads, wich i dont want, i want just one with a reverb.
here a screenshot

Is it possible to apply a FX to only one pad in this piano roll mode?
thanks for your feedback.
If you want separate fx settings, you need to use “apply to” to send your chops to a new group so that they will be on individual pads. If you just use apply, then everything is on one pad in keyboard mode (piano roll) and you can’t add fx to a single note within one pad.
Thanks SaintJoe for your quick response.
I need help. I do not know where the start.
Help with what?
I here the fx on the sample, only when I sample something. How can I here the fx with out sampling anything physically?
You can load an FX on any sound you want, just load it on the second, third, or fourth module of a pad. This video is just specifically about using FX on samples when sampling.
I’m trying to sample using soundflower. I can here the fx I apply only a little bit. Why is that. You said to put it on internal to sample once you happy with the fx. But I can not sample it for some reason. Can you help with ths?
If you are sampling with soundflower, leave the input set to external. You can then go to another pad, set it to internal and set it to sample the input (pad) you have soundflower coming in on. It will grab those fx that are on the input.
Thanks Big Joe I got it to work. I appreciate all your help!
Good news fam!
