In this tutorial I show how to setup Motu BPM so that you can use it as a drum module inside of Maschine and have the pads line up with the 16 pads inside of BPM.
Also, you can download the preset file for BPM right here: BPM
Remember to put that inside of your maschine user folder, in modules/instruments/plugins, then rescan you user folder from within maschine so the preset shows up in your browser
I suggest you set it up yourself so you get the concept behind creating presets for this purpose, but if you just want to download it go for it!
[…] already had a video showing how to use MOTU BPM as a drum module inside of Maschine, but this is even more flexible and […]
A bit if a daft question but then again I’m not that familiar with some Of the terms yet – you talk about “layering” in bpm – what exactly does that mean? Sorry if it’s a daft question but it’s just a term I’m not familiar with in the context. I know about layers in Photoshop – but that’s about it 🙂
No problem man, ask away don’t apologize! And actually it’s pretty similar to layering in photoshop 🙂 When it comes to music, specifically with drums, most samplers have different layers where you can load up different sounds on the same pad/note. Then you can make your own custom sounds this way and still be able to tweak and edit each layer quickly. Say you have a snare and you mix it with a clap and a shaker, all on the same pad, but they trigger together 🙂
Some Reason Motu won’t load in maschine. Looks very useful tho
what you mean it won’t load? are you trying to load the 32 bit or 64 bit version and are you using the 32 bit or 64 bit version of Maschine?
probably using the 32 bit and the plugins are 64 bit
Or the sturrter vst, and the energy on
Joe wht u talking bout , my computers Vist 64bit.
I had no clue that there was two version on my computer
lol, you can open maschine in 64 OR 32 bit, I’m not talking bout the os you run. If there is no check by the vst just put a check by it 😉
well i take it i was using the 32bit, but the vst when u scan them don’t have a check by them at all eirther
Nope dat not work joe, but good to kow bout the 32, n the 64
do they show up under manager? or do they show up under the 64 bit tab?
Also that UVi, is that stand alone or work in maschine too,
so many good vst wish they would work
uvi works in maschine
yup but without a check by them. And maschine can’t load them as a pluging
which tab do they show under? manager or 64 bit?
saintjoe – 05. Apr, 2011
do they show up under manager? or do they show up under the 64 bit tab?
Under manger.
I can’t get uvi to work eirther, i’ll try it in 64 now
if they show up under manager just click your mouse to the left of the plugin name to put a check by it, then they will show up in the plugin list
Yeah nothing with UVI eirther, and they show up and i have lots of plugs that do this. So the one that don’t i just don’t use most the tym… im lost im gonna try loading them in 32 again.
Hey do i have to put the plugs in a certain folder
if they show up under the manager tab then maschine sees them you just need to put a check by them to have them show up in the plugin drop down list. They will not show up in the manager if they are the wrong version, in 32 bit mode you have a 64 bit tab that lists all plugins that are 64 bit and won’t load, when in 64 bit mode you have a tab labeled 32 bit that lists all the 32 bit plugins that won’t be able to load in the 64 bit version.
all the plugs show up under manger in 32 bit, i do check them, click okay. maschine scans and closes the box,no plugs there for them still…
close maschine, go to the shortcut, right click on properties, go to compatibility, click “run this program as administrator” then click apply
open maschine, and try it again
So if i check them then scan, After the scan the check marks are moved…
short cut…..?
the maschine icon, the shortcut you use to open maschine
Yeah nothing still, im just happy i got reason working in masching. for that alone i got my ten bucks worth for the month…..
I don’t don’t know what else to say joe no of that worked
Man that doesn’t make sense lol, if it’s showing up in manager you should be able to check them and open them, hmmmmm.
yeah tru nuff famz, nut im done for the night been a long one. i got a a whole bounce of vst that won’t work, most of the one that u install i don’t touch. messes up the pc
weird fam, something isn’t right on your system bro, not sure what it is without seeing it but that’s definitely not normal.
The video is not showing. Only thing I see is the take notes textarea.
Hey fam, try it again, should be working now
ok if you midi map it in the keyboard mode on the machine controller, doesn’t that take away the ability to change the pitch of the clap or kick in maschine like you normally would do in the mkII controller? i would think you would midi map it in pad mode instead of keyboard mode if that makes sense of my question…
Pad mode/keyboard mode is the same thing, you load BPM as a plugin so it’s played in keyboard mode anyway. Unless you want to go through the trouble of mapping each individual drum to a specific midi channel in BPM then sending midi out from the Maschine pads on those channels. I find it easier to just drag and drop the samples from BPM https://maschinetutorials.com/using-the-motu-bpm-library-directly-in-maschine-without-loading-the-plugin/ or https://maschinetutorials.com/using-motu-bpm-to-design-custom-drums-for-maschine/
