This is the third and final part in the sequencing maschine in your daw tutorial series
Part 1 showed how to setup the controller template, part 2 showed how to set up midi routing, and part 3 is going to show you how to route audio to different channels in your daw.
This works no matter how you compose. If you sequencing inside of your daw, or sequence in Maschine first then use this to “track out” your beats, it’s the same thing.
Basically it will show you where to make the output changes and explain how to get them into your daw.
Don’t forget to watch the other parts in the series: maschine in your daw

Good tutorial SJ! You can also route outputs on individual sounds too..
Hey if you’ve used REAPER before, how would you compare StudioOne and REAPER???
yep, I know, I just used groups because I had my drums/etc, it works the same on individual sounds. I’ve used reaper, I like studio one better, I actually own both, but like studio one better.
DOPE MAN !!! Gives soooo much more flexability to mixing now. Love having the channels separated. !! Dope Vid man. Loving this series !
Yeah man, flexibility.
You did this already.Damn! you are a beast. We only just talked about this earlier today.
Ha lol, trying to help man!
Damn good series of tutorials man! Got a newbie question. Whats the difference between doing it this way and drag and dropping it in your daw. I haven’t tried either yet. But I’m almost finished with my first track to post.
It’s 10x better this way because you’re actually streaming the live audio from Maschine into your DAW, rather than being stuck with the wav file that you rendered.
So for example, lets say you wanna make a change; instead of having to go back and render it out again, the change will instantly be heard in your DAW
And plus, you save a lot of HD space that could be used for SOUNDS instead of multitracks lol
That’s whats up. So basically it gives me more freedom to do what ever to the track in the daw Individually to tweak it and correct it to my flavor huh???. I’m still new but learning a lot with this beast of Maschine. By the way I have a mac and run logic pro. Another animal in it’s own. Damn the learning curve. LOL 🙂
Exactly, plus some folks already have their workflow in the daw so this series let’s you use Maschine and all it’s features in your own workflow!
brick city how long you been at this bro? i got logic 9 and sometimes i hate it when it comes to plug in…but other then that yes its madness
@ Brick City: the learning curve (smdh)…i feel ya bro!
Nice one saintjoe, I love my Studio One, just can’t seem to trigger my Maschine with Play/Rec when using it as a plug in with Studio One, apparently because you cannot map the transport buttons!!
Nope, this will not work, this is why many don’t use it as a plugin, but in midi control mode you can map the transport buttons do studio one’s transport
So, pretty much if you don’t want to sequence in your Daw but you want to sequence in Maschine and track it out…. you just set up your Daw to receive Maschine inputs and route Maschine outs accordingly? Mpc style works best for me. Good series! Peace.
Yep, just record everything in Maschine as normal, then when you want to track it out open it up as a plugin, route your outputs into the daw and do your thing.
Man, did ours dreams come true or what? LOL, I’ve been waiting for this four years – this kind of workflow. Then come MT.com, It’s almost to good to be true….. I’m pinching myself right now LOL. Keep it coming!
Yeah fam, I come from the mpc too, so yes, it’s a dream come true for sure! lol
Man this is Nice!
Word fam!
yo sj what software is that your using? if you dont mind me asking
Studio One
sad but i still dont no how to put my picture on this thing and i went threw all the steps to do so
make sure you go to gravatar.com and setup an account, make sure you use the same emai that you use here, then add your picture on that site and it will show up here.
Wish I could do this in Pro Tools but I can’t use Maschine & Pro Tools at the same time 🙁
Mmmm – posting that comment made me wanna go try again and I was just messing with the Hardware settings in Pro Tools. I changed the Clock Source to Word Clock (which produced an error) and then back to Internal, and I can now hear what’s going on inside Maschine, and can drag audio to PT tracks, where I can play and hear them. Perfect! Not sure why messing with the Clock Source like that would make it all work OK again, but if that’s all I need to do to be able to use PT & Maschine at the… Read more »
You could do this by opening Maschine inside of protools as an rtas plugin, thats what this one is about
However, it’s cool you figured out how to get them both to work standalone again, not sure why clock source would make any difference, but I don’t use protools lol,
Yeah I had it working as a plugin, but I was keen to figure out why it wouldn’t work with both open independently. Hate being stumped by stuff like that lol.
But it works now so it’s all good. Only takes a second to change the Clock Source to something else and then back again.
I hear ya man, good stuff!
Question…….I’m makin a beat using logic9 maschin as an imput ….. everything is go…but how do I use a diff. Kit if I want to change the sound in maschine?
Just load a different kit in Maschine
I tryed that and it said do I wanna save. Then it wouldent play ina temp. I will get my study on harder
inside of maschine you can change the kits as much as you wish, you don’t have to save unless you’ve changed the kits and want to save the changes. Just like you load the first kit in maschine, load another, just make sure it’s in maschine and not logic, as in…you don’t need to load the maschine plugin again, just open the interface and load a kit on the group inside of Machine.
Thnx bro.
Word. Good looks
Gotta question peoples…….I had to reinstall sonivox playa producer pack….and I’m havin an issue wit aggro boom….I can get anysound….but it will rec….threw my m.p.c is this somethin that happens all the time with this or did I do somethin wrong
Huh? If only one of them out of the pack isn’t working, I’d say it’s an install issue. Again, please start discussions like these in the forum so we can keep it focused. The sonivox issue doesn’t have anything to do with routing audio in your daw from Maschine. This will help other people find it as well if they are looking for the same thing in the forum. Thanks bro!
Oh ma bad thought the 1st one went to ya personal…I get what u mean now….where is that forum
no doubt, forum at the top of the site where it says forum, bunch of other info and discussions in there 🙂

nice..
Cool man, glad you like.
saint Im using Studio one, did what you said but still not getting sounds in the tracks. do i have to set up the audio i/o a certain way to hear the audio in the tracks live? (i have also pressed rec button, still no sound. Im using a pro tools digi 002 rack by the way as a interface.
No as long as you’ve done what I did here, it will work, make sure you check the boxes in studio one so it knows which outputs to activate in the mixer.
when i route audio in pro tools all i have to do is click maschine output 1,2,3,ect. In Studio One do i have to open 16 maschine vst’s? can you tell me how to set up the routing in studio one from the studio one point of view?
no you don’t have to open 16 vsts
Ok, i finally got the sound in the studio one, but i was thinking it was gonna show up on a audio track so i can record the audio.
yeah man, this has been my gripe from day one, it doesn’t actually open up audio tracks, it just opens mixer tracks, we’ve requested this since the beginning, not sure when they will do it man.
im rying to find the best way to use maschine in my daw which happens to be studio one! i basically do everything in studio one but i want to add maschine for chopping drumz, samples, note repeat etc… so in maschine mode i can only usually work with group a and no other ones? is that right? is the best way to use it still the way you do it? switch between midi and the maschine controller to get it to sequence right in your daw?? im basically just using group a and using control b in studio one… Read more »
Both ways will work, it really just depends on how comfortable you are with either method. If you want the midi inside of S1 you can use midi control mode to record that. But also remember you can keep it in Maschine mode, bang out your beat, then drag the midi from the group into S1 also. So you don’t have to do it this way.
ok cool im new to maschine but i know studione pretty well so excuse my ignorance! so do u mean for example i have a loop playing in studio one i can create a loop in maschine mode and drag it to studio one? if so thats nice how would i do that? and also would i be limited to just group A??
Yes indeed, check this out
https://maschinetutorials.com/how-to-drag-and-drop-audio-or-midi-from-maschine
ok i checked it out! thanks! do u have 1 when u r actually using it as a vst in studio one?
same concept, maschine will run as your sequencer in s1 ones, if you hit record on maschine you’ll be recording into it. then you can drag and drop the audio or midi out depending on what you want to do.
ok cool thanks
sure wish maschine had some of poise simplicity!!lol
you gotta remember poise is just a sampler, NI makes one of those too, it’s called Battery 🙂
Maschine is really it’s own sequencing/groove production platform. But I agree, I would love to have the simple layering on a pad that Poise has…in Maschine. I’ve been pushing for something like that, geist, bpm, etc…for a while.
yeah i feel u fam… i used them all! yeah if it was simple to layer like it is in poise that would be dope!!!
I’m sure they will do something for that in the future, many of us have been asking.
can i do this with cubase 5
Yes, you should be able to route audio in Cubase in a similar way.
thanks for responding. im gonna try it and see what i get. im hopping in the near future that you would have some tutorials with maschine working with cubase. i love what you guys are doing. i learned so much, please keep it coming
I’m gonna check out the Cubase demo and see what’s good with it. I never used it so may take me a lil bit to wrap my head around it.
How did you turn on your out puts in studio one cant figure that one out. I have only two tracks and the only one I see is the maschine main out????
Aww dang! lol, didn’t realize the video cut it off a lil bit, but down in the mixer area where it says maschine, you can click it and it will give you a drop down with all the other outputs, you then click the ones you want to use.
Ok I know its late but when I do that its giving me color choices for the track.
I am running the demo version just to let ya know
You have to make sure the mixer is open in s1, then you’ll see the orange letters that say Maschine, there is a drop down right there, click it, and click expand, it will show you all the outputs. Under the io tab make sure “instruments” is highlighted, it’s all the way to the left side of the mixer area.
Thanks bro before I throw this shyte threw my window I think i’ll take a break and get at it in the morning. Keep up posted. MOVIE TIME LOL:-)
LOL I feel ya bruh, I’m bout to crash myself lol
here you go bruh 🙂
https://maschinetutorials.com/mt-quick-tip-how-to-setup-multiple-outputs-from-maschine-in-studio-one
Yo saint joe, definitely appreciate all the tutorials on here bro, best website ever. How did you get maschine to slow up in
your instrument options in studio one?
Cool fam, that’s whasup! In S1 you have to go into the options, under locations and set your plugin folder. If you’re in 32 bit S1 use the 32 bit folder, in 64 but it needs the 64 bit plugin version.
Then you should be able to scan it and it shows up. If you have S1 artist then it will not show up because artist version can’t load external plugins.
just my luck I have S1artist. appreciate that I’ve been here all day trying to figure it out.
Yes, that would be the problem, only the pro version allows third party plugins
Hii Sj I wonder is there a way to sample MP3’s into maschine via Studio one V2. i’ve seen this done in Ableton on Ski beatz video on youtube. Can it be done in S1
you could do it by loading the fx on an audio track, you may also be able to do it using busses but I’ve never tried it, I’ll have to look into it and see
