This tutorial shows you the different ways you can quickly drag audio or midi out of maschine for quick exporting and use in other applications.
If you have created a loop or a collection of loops that you want to further develop in another application you can quickly drag out the loops as audio or midi files.
This is also useful for quickly getting your tracks into your daw for further mixing and arranging.
Drag and drop lets you skips the sometimes long and drawn out process of realtime exporting, exporting, or having to open Maschine as a plugin in your recording application of choice

Great!
It’s very useful 🙂
incredible feature.
yes indeed, good stuff and makes it easy to integrate, more flexible too.
That’s craziness….real easy…good lookin big bruh…..i’m almost home….you know what time it is…if ya don’t…check ya midi clock….speaking of which, time to mess with midi sync to see if I can sync record and maschine in stand alone….much love man
yo saint, what am I doing so wrong that I cant sync these two programs. I have Maschine set to send MIDI clock via the file menu. The I have Record/Reason set to receive MIDI clock via the option menu=>sync=>then MIDI clock. Also in Record/Reason, I tried to set the Midi Clock Sync Port to the virtual cable in Copperlan via the edit menu=>preferences=>advanced control=>midi clock sync. Maybe my understanding of midi clock syncing is sub par…nut what am I missing?
Dunno bout the sync settings in Reason but I’ve had no problem getting Maschine to sync with Ableton, you have to tell Reason/Record where to listen for the midi clock/sync.
That’s whats up….ill keep you posted…..good lookin
hello
This doesn’t work. I can click the symbol, hold my muse but it just gets me back to a arrow mouse pointer. No file to drag here?
Lion 10 7 2
Do you have anything in the pattern you are trying to drag? I don’t know of any incompatibilities with the new Mac OS, do you ever get a box showing the drag render progress?
If it’s midi then there is no progress bar it’s pretty much instant
Never mind, I tried to drag a empty one :-S Now works ok
Cool 🙂
With export mode you have the option of 16, 24b, etc. What will be the default export with drag and drop mode?
it will be whatever is set in your audio export menu, it matches those settings
Hey Joe – when exporting Midi – is it possible to apply the same functions as available in the ‘export audio’ menu?
I want to export all patterns of one sound to cubase as midi – hoping I don’t need to do it individually for each pattern.
Thanks as always.
not currently, just exports the patterns as midi at this point, we’ve requested to be able to midi export entire songs
darn! seems I keep asking questions about stuff we can’t do yet…. not my intention.lol
Being able to record pattern changes on the fly is still my biggest want…want…w…
….want!
we’ve all asked questions on stuff we can’t do yet, that’s how Maschine got to where it is today 🙂
Yo SJ, when I drag, say, a solo’d kick from Maschine into Ableton, I’ve noticed that at the beginning, the first transient is a little cut off so that the attack is different. It sounds more clicky. My workaround is to make a two-bar loop, drag it in, and then edit out the first bar properly so that the first transient of the resulting loop is lined up and sounds right. I would love not to have to go through those extra steps. I tried playing with latency settings but that did nothing. Any ideas? Thanks bruh, and awesome site… Read more »
did you try disabling or enabling loop optimize in the audio export window?
Yep, neither worked. Drag and drop does work in Logic (which I don’t like) but not Pro Tools. I want to use Ableton but there’s nothing about it in their support docs or forum and not in NI’s either. This leads me to believe that it’s something to do with the way the DAW’s “receive” the loops. You can really hear it on sub bass and 808/909 kicks. Ableton of course warps the loops into proper timing. In PT, if you zoom in on the end of the region, you can even see that the loop stops short of the… Read more »
In ableton you must have the “loop optimize turned on” for it to work at all, check this video. https://maschinetutorials.com/drag-audio-from-maschine-to-ableton-live-and-making-sure-the-loops-play-correctly/
As for pro tools, not sure, could be the way it’s reading the audio, does it happen if you do an audio export and drag that into PT?
Don’t you mean in Maschine loop optimize should be turned on, right? It seems to be working now (sputter, sputter, cough, cough), although I swear I checked the optimize box a bunch of times! Maybe you have to restart Maschine for it to take effect? Come to think of it, the last time I tried might have been in Live 8. Yeah that’s the ticket, I’ll blame it on Live 8! I’ll holla back if it stops working. Thanks SJ!
Yeah I’m saying when you use it in ableton you need to have loop optimize turned on in Maschine 🙂
glad it’s working bro!
