Many folks use FL Studio and want to know how to setup Maschine as a module/plugin so they can trigger midi on different tracks and route the audio.
I just wanted to put together something to show exactly how to do it in FL instead of trying to make folks follow the sequencing maschine in your daw series where I used Studio One.
So this if for the FL folks, I know we got more than a few, I’m trying to figure it all out for ya!
Hope this helps

Maybe you should start a whole new sub series where you do one for every VST/AU host…well the popular ones…that way they would be available to new members as the site gains more subscriptions.
That’s kinda what I’ve been trying to work towards, just show at least routing and maybe sequencing in the major hosts.
wow i was using the port of the midi settings in the options tab. U the man homie best money i have ever spent. im lettin everyone know about ur site.big thanks.
Glad to help yo, enjoy!
Man FIX that Damn Beat! Driving Me Crazy! LOL!
lol brother I didn’t feel like messing with FL Studio, just wanted to show the routing real quick lol.
i cant get maschine to show up as a vst plugin inside fl studio. i need some help plz
You need to make sure FL Studio knows where your Maschine plugin is installed.
yeah drop the maschine vst in your main vst folder where all your other vst instruments are. So in your vst folder look for “maschine.dll”
thx guys. very helpful!!
No problem!
Yo so i just got FL Studio this month cause it was on sale. I’m trying to get it to sequence midi like you are but it won’t. I can here and see that there is kit’s being tapped but when I change it to controller mode it makes no sounds. Weird, when I’m not in controller mode I can here my kits but of course it wont record midi but in controller mode I hear nothing and of course it doesn’t record. Any ideas or are we past this now. Too late maybe lol. If so no prob you… Read more »
Make sure you follow the video, the setup and everything is there, double check all your midi settings.
Didn’t have maschine enabled as a controller. You smart me dumb! Lol The Namm stuff is sick man I really dug your coverage of it thanks for this and that!
LOL, it’s all good fam, happens to all of us 🙂
How come when I record into FL, after the 4 bar pattern, when I’m done the midi notes do not appear like yours did (like in piano roll view) and they instead appear as if I checked off the steps in the sequencer? It does let me right click and send to piano roll, but doesn’t do it right away like yours did?
I believe its a setting in preferences to send MIDI to the piano roll by default
Yeah thats wild because by default its supposed to go to piano roll
Hey bro I’m hoping you can help me out, I’m still having troubles with this thing. I follow the video and it just doesn’t work for me… I must be missing something. Maschine VST works and it’s activated, 100% Legit, no bullshit. Midi intput port on Maschine VST set ti 1 I set my port # on f10 to 1(Is this a necessary step?) I set my port # on MIDI OUT to 1. You say you made 8 midi outs, what’s up with that? Is there a previous step that I’m unaware of or is this just something unnecessary… Read more »
Go over the video again and make sure you have everything setup properly. The MIDI Out is a device in FL, I just put 8 of them on the sequencer, you set each one to different channels if you wish, depending on how many channels you need to use. Maschine needs to be setup as a midi input device and you need to have your MIDI Out device routed properly to your Maschine channel.
this was exactly what I was looking for! thanks again!
no problem fam!
Hey SaintJoe, thanks for replying. I put up a video on youtube –

If you could please check it out I’d appreciate it. Hopefully this video will help you.
Thanks and take care!
You get into Maschine’s midi mode by pressing shift+control (midi) on your controller. When you do this, it will trigger notes depending on which midi template you have loaded. You can try one of the included templates or create your own with the controller editor software.
Basically your issue is, your root note when you set midi batch settings is c3, so you need to make sure maschine is sending midi in that note range.
When I try this I get nothing. After starting fl studio it won’t recognize any devices that weren’t already connected when it was started. Problem is if I have controller mode enabled, then start fl studio, upon loading maschine vst the controller reverts back out of controller mode. Bam, no midi connection. I have no clue what is causing the issue.
You shouldn’t have to put it in controller mode for it to be recognized, as long as it’s connected to your computer you’re fine. You can put it back into midi controller mode by pressing shift+control the same way you do before opening the Maschine vst. If you’re losing connection when it’s not in midi mode I would check for any info on compatibility with FL Studio because it shouldn’t lose connection no matter what mode it’s in.
Almost There. Now its just playing notes C1 to D#2. Trying to change it in controller editor does not seem to work. reverts to C1.
It still works Fine inside the maschine vst alone, just not in midi mode. When I look over in at the template it registers my pad hits. So I’m guessing it is fl that is the problem.
Could be, what version are you using?
Turned out to be template related in controller editor. However C3 is playing C5. Ah my poor brain.
is FL Studio remapping the midi input somehow? Is it possible to set something in FL Studio that would cause it to do that?
If it is possible, it’s something I’m unaware of. I have noticed a couple of inconsistencies. The fl piano roll goes from C0-B10. Maschine controller editor only goes up to B8. Also, by default in controller editor tho notes are displayed with a dash in between (ie, C-1) I had to manually remove the dashes to get fl to recognize the notes.
Interesting find man
i can use my keyboard to record the midi notes, but not my machine mikro 2, im using the fl studio template that it came with, and i do have it set on controler mode. but when im playing from my machine, i hear the sound but when im recording no midi data is being recorded , the levels are not even showing on the step squencer, i know i did everything right, please help me, im been stuck on this for months
Is the Mikro enabled as a midi input device in your midi preferences? If so it should be working, same as your keyboard. Is it sending the proper notes when you hear sound from the pads?
Just drag and drop audio files into the playlist. I usually drop all the samples down to -8db before I drag and drop then send everything to the mixer
Yeah, I don’t use FL but in general I usually drag audio into a DAW if I use it, like Ableton, etc.
Does this work in Work in the latest maschine 2 update?
Yes indeed, just make sure you are putting it in midi mode
