I previously showed how to delete single sounds using the select button
delete single sounds with select button
However today I want to show you an even quicker way, well, at least in my opinion when it comes to workflow and when you want to quickly delete the pattern of a specific sound or pad.
There is a quicker way to edit the data for individual pads using the pad mode button (keyboard mode)
**Extra Quick Tip** – You can get to “keyboard” mode quickly by pressing shift+pad mode

NICE!
No doubt fam, tuck that one away in your back pocket, it really comes in handy.
Good one Joe! Also I use shift and the compare button for a quick erase in the heat of the moment. I know you said you’re not a big fan of the compare button, but for a quick delete in the heat of it…compare is really the quickest.
I will use both ways.
No doubt fam. I don’t like the way compare works as it is, I like the concept, and was hyped about it, but I really think it should work based on the record button. I plan to do a video showing the best way to use it as is, but unless you lay something down, and go to a different group or something, it will not work properly 😉 You have to do something “after” you record, to make it realize you changed something so that you can “compare” it to what you had before. LOL, yeah I’m all for… Read more »
Ha Ha I see what you mean SJ. It’s not really an erase but button because it doesn’ erase it just goes back to whatever was there before.
Yeah, the problem is it’s moody lol. A few of us have had many long discussion with NI on this. Basically the concept is dope but flawed. Imagine it working properly where every time you hit record it “stores” what you had before you recorded. So it always took you back to right before the last record, like an undo. That’s how it should work. Right now, you can’t simply hop out of record and then compare and go back, most of the time it will not work unless you do something else in a another group so that it… Read more »
Also remember this for after the fact, if you come back later and want to get rid of something, it’s also great for arranging when you copy patterns and want to take specific parts out.
No doubt, it’s good getting your pattern sounds muted or soloed, so it’s easier for sequencing later.
right
I’ve been just holding down the ‘Erase’ button and the pad to be erased – I think its just as fast – plus you can delete only certain notes if you don’t want every hit gone.
I’ll give your technique a shot, but I’m not sure of the advantage to be honest.
Maybe I’m missing something here? (it wouldn’t be the first time…haha) 😛
erase button is in realtime, what if you just want to do it all at once?
I usually use the erase button for “spot erasing” But when I quickly want to get rid of a whole part, I use this.
Cool, I will give it a shot. Just another technique in the bag can’t hurt at all.
I like to work fast, and all these little shortcuts can add up.
Indeed, especially if you have an 8 or 16 bar pattern, don’t wanna hold erase for that 🙂
Yo SJ, good tip on the deleting from within pad mode. Consider that tip tucked away. But something in the last couple of Pad Mode videos has been bugging me like crazy. I know, I just KNOW, in the core of my bones, that you already know this. But since the video didn’t display it, I’ll put it in here for those that don’t know. Shift + Pad Mode takes you straight there. No need to hold down the pad mode button and stretch your hand (mine are small, so that stretch sucks for me) all the way to they’ll… Read more »
Yeah, you are correct shift+pad mode automatically puts you in “keyboard” mode. The button is the “keyboard” button, next to it is 16 level and fixed velocity buttons.
I just show it hitting the pad mode button so folks get familiar with the other options that are there 😉
But you are right, in these videos I should have mentioned it, I’ll add it to the text part 🙂
For those of us with small hands lol
LOL, I added it to the posts as an “extra quick tip” lol
CAn you follow the Machine Mikro tutorials for the regular Machine? Like will the instructions work for both?
Yeah, it’s the same software, only some things will be different when working directly from the controller since Mikro only has one knob and one screen.
