In this tutorial I show you how to quickly select specific parts of a pattern to delete or undo in maschine’s sequencer
So if you lay your drums and don’t like the hi hat, you can delete only the hat part and leave the others.

Thanks Man! This saves me from going to the piano roll and selecting the notes and pressing delete on my computer keyboard…Much quicker this way…Good tip!
No doubt, once you get used to it, it is pretty quick man lol, I love it!
God I really love those short know-hows. I maybe read how to do it somewhere-sometime and forgot all about it, but there’s something about a voice, a face, a sound that makes it stick in onces mind. Keep em coming!
Yeah man, just trying to share all the little things that help my workflow personally, figure it doesn’t always take a long tutorial to help people, little quick tips like these make a lot of difference in the workflow. Glad you like it man!
Good tip! I could live with the couple of steps to delete single sounds. I think NI will eventually come with a one-two punch workflow enhancement. Peace.
Yeah, it’s not too bad actually, and once you choose events the first time, it stays chosen, so from there you just have to hit select, and the pad, then shift+delete.
I’m looking for a new controller in the future with more dedicated buttons though, so we don’t have to shift so much 🙂
maybe something so we can hit a pad then press delete lol, but it’s all good!
Great Vid Fam. You know… since doing this way often..I go so fast doing it that I dont even really need a faster way. I guess I am saying that this is now part of my workflow and its still fast. !
Yeah, it’s just one of those things you get used to the more you use it. I don’t even think about it anymore.
can u just hold the erase key and the pad u want to delete, like the mpc ect..
Yep, that’s if you want to erase specific notes or the notes in realtime. As long as you hold erase the notes on the pad you are holding will be erased.
Nice video!
I’m thinking a new controller in the future as well! Maybe one with a tilt screen and various colors. I’m very happy right now with everything, WORD!
Thanks Soma, @Russell yeah man I feel ya!
well handy, much appreciated
glad to help!
Hey brother, nice videos, very helpful. How do you delete an entire pattern. Is there a delete pattern assignment?
Thanks
RD
for the whole pattern just use shift+clear (pad 9)
Thank you! This really helps my workflow!
NO problem! Glad to help fam, it’s definitely something that gets asked a lot, it’s not as straight forward as it should be imo.
great vid. can u also tell me how to remove or delete a SOUND from a GROUP? thanx
shitf+erase then hit the pad you want to erase
Nice vid…. but I still reckon this is one of those things that is just a little bit faster using the mouse.
To delete a specific one or two hits from a pattern is:
• Select
• ‘Events’ (if not already selected)
• Press the pad from which you want to delete
• Fiddling with the ‘Start’ and ‘End’ knobs (usually while looking at the screen anyway)
• Shift + Clear
…or I can just drag the mouse, select the hits and press delete on my keyboard.
Remember not everyone wants to use the mouse, some have maschine setup far away from their mouse and screen…as with anything its up to how you work, just another option.
What would be the way to do this on the mikro?
You still use the select button to select the notes, then you can do a shift+clear to get rid of em.
I tried this on the mikro it works fine thanks but I dont think the option is available to chose like the first 3 or 4 right? You would have to clear them all no? Or use the mouse my track pad to get rid of individual notes
yeah you can choose specific notes using the select button
sidenote: on the mkII, the whole select > event screen is different. not sure if also same for the micro. But instead of start/end on the right those options are replaced by position/length. pitch and velocity are added as the third and fourth options. at the top, the four options are up/down which moves from sound to sound, and all/none which selects all or none within that pattern. on the left side are the start/end and event knob, which allows you to literally move the highlight from hit to hit within the pattern. just a sidenote for anyone with an… Read more »
Yeah they changed it in a software update but still a bit similar so I left this one up 🙂 Yeah I like doing the quick tips, get in, get out, make music 🙂
Good stuff, this is a really useful tip.
glad to help!
