Hey what’s good fam?
Had some questions from some members on how to copy data between groups properly so I wanted to make a quick video to make sure the process is understood.
You can copy via the duplicate button or by using just the events, so I wanted to show both ways and also explain where some people may get caught up when copying data.
Of course if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Any way to do anything similar on the MK2? I”m having trouble. also is there a way to do this on the screen? i can’t seem to get that to work either, even with command/c and then command/v on my mac. It won’t let me copy between groups either.
Here’s a video for you: https://maschinetutorials.com/maschine-mk2-copying-and-duplicating-events-between-groups-in-maschine-2-0/
As for in the software, on PC I use ctrl+c to copy and ctrl+v to paste
If one wanted to sub a kick or clap track (change sample sound) out but keep the original content for comparing, how would one go about that?
You would just change the sound, the notes will remain. If you want you can copy the events to a different group and just load a different sound on that pad to compare.
once I do the copy I can record anymore sounds in the same group. The metro runs but when I press record nothing gets stored. What am I missing ?
What group are you trying to record into? You should be able to record regardless after moving/copying events as long as you have record enabled.
Hi Joe – does this work if I want to paste multiple sounds (and their midi data – with velocity & automation etc) from different groups into one group? E.g. Snare from group A / kick from group B / hat from group C – into separate sound slots on group D.
Or can you only paste once into a new group with events? Thanks.
You can select individual pads with their events and paste them to new pads in a group if you want using copy/paste. You don’t have to do the whole group.
hey Joe + Knock I’m trying to move different chops from samples into 1 group from 2 other groups and I’m having trouble. I’m new to maschine studio and i gotta banger but i need some assistance. I’ve checked so many videos and none seem to be working for me.
To copy the actual sample, hold duplicate, press the pad, then press the group/pad you want to duplicate it to, just make sure you don’t let go of duplicate before you hit the new pad in the group you’re moving to.
Hi Joe, I noticed in the last example that your events were shifted a 16th to the right? Why did that happen? Thanks!
Sometimes the pasting is off, could have been the grid, I don’t remember if I had the grid on or not. But I do remember for a long time Maschine would not paste exactly where you set it so you’d have to go in and edit after pasting, could have been that as well.
