I’ve been messing with Reason again recently, so I decided to map Maschine Mikro to control it’s transport and drum samplers
This video shows the process, as well as how to save a default project so that you don’t have to re-map the transport controls every time.
Maschine and Mikro are both really good midi controllers in their own right.
Native Instruments Controller Editor software really lets you dig in and customize it to your needs.
Check it out

Good stuff bro. Thanks for sharing these nuggets of knowledge.
No doubt brotha
Nice and easy Joe, thanks. I mapped Maschine Sr. without a hitch. One question though, on my old MPC 1000 I could use the Reason instruments and then record the midi data/sounds into the MPC and use them as part of my beat. Can Maschine do that?
And by the way, yo, this is the most comprehensive site of its kind on the entire internet. Dope.
Yes indeed you can sir, just have to route the midi properly
something like this

Also, where in the hell does my profile pic keep disappearing to? I set up a Gravatar account and a MT profile, but, I don’t see my pic? Sorry, I know it’s off-topic here, but, it’s…….missing. Figured I’d ask now. Thanks.
Make sure you use the same email on gravatar as you do here and it will pick it up
I can’t seem to get the pads working. I removed the “-” out of the name but no response. All the transport controls work fine but pads don’t even light up in Reason when I press them on Maschine.
Do I need Rewire?
Ps. Been on the site for a week or so and I’m impressed!
Make sure they are turned on and make sure they match the notes you want to send or the notes that the device you are controlling responds to.
Thanks for getting back so quick, I appreciate it.
This is a screenshot of my editor, any clues?

Change the type from toggle to gate, toggle is an on/off switch, you want it to be a gate.
Sorry to be a pain in the ass, changed it to gate and still nothing, I’ve got a sample loaded in reason and it plays when I trigger it with the mouse… The only thing I can think of that might be different from when the video was posted is I’m using Reason 6.5
It should be the same, you need to figure out which note you have the sample loaded on and make sure the pad matches that note so it can trigger. So if you’re in KONG you need to make your template match the notes in Kong.
Hey Joe!
Thanks again for sticking at it man, I don’t know what’s changed since last night for me but this morning when I turned on my computer and opened everything up again it’s all mysteriously working!
Must of been MT elves 😀
hahahaha, no doubt man 🙂
Great video
Glad to help, thanks for watching!
Hi, thanks for the vid – I’m trying to get my mikro mk3 to work a a simple mid controller in logic 10.6. Transport is working OK, and midi data is coming through but I’m not getting any sounds (on a battery 4 track for example). The sounds come through using my komplete kontrol S61. Do you have any ideas? Thanks !
When using the Maschine controllers in MIDI mode, each of the groups send different MIDI notes (think octaves on a keyboard). So you may have to switch to a different group in order to trigger notes properly. Group A is lower than group D for example.
Thanks – but I tried all the pages, none of them are triggering sounds. Some of the pads triggered weird actions such as minimising the window, of selecting another track…. Maybe i’m missing a kind of default template in the editor ? Or could my hardware be faulty? Thanks again for your help!
I doubt there is an issue with your controller. Check to see if it is configured as a general MIDI input (not just a control surface) there are probably quite a few different MIDI options in Logic you can setup, but I know it works as a general MIDI input device as well. Also make sure you’re in MIDI mode? I know host control will work without being in MIDI mode.
