Yo what’s good MT Fam
Got an interview here for you with NI Product Specialist Matt Cellitti!
This is one of the two guys that really got me into Maschine, I watched his demo video from Guitar Center and knew I had to get one.
After that I started searching youtube, found knocksquared…and yeah…I had to have it.
So as usual we just chat about who he is, what he does, his musical background, and his thoughts on Maschine.
You know he was one of the first to “rock that maschine” fam!
Hope you enjoy!

LOL…Love it…I am still listening now… LOL at us being “Spoiled” thats so true..LOL.. Its crazy because that Kanye demo that Matt talked about was the deciding factor for me to in Tash’s GC vid. When he adjusted the sample start poit I was like “SOLD !!!!!!!!!!!!!” Great interview indeed.
Yeah man, he killed it in that interview…then I saw your vids, I was done for lol. “you can’t be serious” I said this many times watching videos before I got one.
Y’all got first hand access. I heard rumors and then saw the demo at namm and said that B*tch is mind. I called guitar center when it dropped. They only had two within a 3 hour driving range, One in Nashville and the other in Atlanta. I bought it in Chattanooga, and drove to Nashville to pick it up! I couldn’t wait to get back home. It’s been game over since. A lot of changes since 1.00 even with the controller.
Hahaha, that’s whasup MG, straight VET on the Maschine son lol.
I had Maschine sitting in A box for about a month, until I saw one of Knocks videos on you tube, and then it was On!
Yeah brotha, look at you now son! lol. Killin it!
Good stuff SJ. Great interview bro! I copped the MacProVideo tutorials that Matt has out and they are excellent!!! They are like teaching aids on top of what I get from MT.com. Loving it mayne!!!
word fam, that’s whasup
Same with me Matt’s GC vid and Knock’s New York and your unboxing did it. I think I copped mine at the 1.5 version I held on to my MP as long as possible LOL
Yeah brotha lol, like a kid at Christmas opening that box son!
I initially bought the padKontrol as I wanted to get back into making music, after a week with it I saw an advert on youtube for maschine, found Knock doing his stuff and sent the padKontrol back and got maschine. Best gear decision I have ever made, love my maschine.
dope!
Wow do I get that guy! I’ve been a Guitar/Bass player and singer and writer but find Maschine so easy to put ideas down more than anything else! Good interview man!
very good man, wooooooooow, you need to drop some of them dope riffs/licks for the fam lol
I think I got mine only because I had too much time on my hands. lol
I got laid of and have been out of work for like 2 months, and started to get bored with Logic. And YouTube was like my best friend during that time…so, one KnockSquared later, and I was walking out of Sam Ash, Maschine in hand!
Didn’t tell my wife how much it cost though…good thing we have separate accounts lol
no doubt fam, we all got into it for different reasons, it’s all good! we all love it lol
I’m really excited about the development of the hardware. All the features that’ll come will probably have it’s imprints on the controller. And as Matt mentioned in the video, imagine a touch screen with a crisp display instead of those small led displays. Or maybe we’ll see a docking feature like the Akai Synthstations? But with Windows 8 around the corner (with touch screen) and other os for the iThingies, the computer will perhaps be more integrated with Maschine. Imagine a laptop, open the lock and there you have Maschine. Tap on the screen and you’re good to go. You’ll… Read more »
My brotha, I was just talking about w8/tablets/maschine in the forum yesterday. Thinking the same stuff, let’s see how it plays out.
But I do like the idea of a color/touch based screen on the maschine controller too.
Gonna make SJ a custom frame for his! Lol
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssss lol
Great community you guys have here! I remember when we were sitting in LA way back in July 2008 and Mate (CTO/President) casually came into the meeting room with Maschine, put it on the table and just started playing with it. I had an idea in my head of what it was going to look like because we knew about it for a few months before that and it blew away my expectations. Seeing it for the first time and knowing instantly that this thing was going to HUGE was really interesting. Imagine keeping that secret for 7 months before… Read more »
Dude, that would have been awesome lol!
I know it was hard to keep that secret…LOL… I would have struggled with it… I would be walking up to people with MPC’s and saying…”ummm..you are not going to have that MPC in a few months” lol
Ahahahahaha, yesssssssssss you know me, I would just laugh! lol
I haven’t made it through thewhole interview yet. Spotty coverage on the train. Does Matt do any work shops in LA? I’m close enough in the IE for that. Hell, you need an apprentice Matt? I’m a Vet…so I’m always on time and know how to follow orders lol
Ahahahahahaha!!!
Hey Jeo! I love Matt C, I remember coming cross him a couple of years ago on a very good tutorial he did basically out how to sample of the internet before NI made it a lot simpler to achieve. The tutorial was on Youtube I also purchased his recent work with MacPro Video. These videos are a MUST every laid back and informative I enjoy Matts ability to teach and the way he gets things across. You are a blessed man! Anyway, in the next upgrade it would be nice to incorporate a simple thing like a timer. I… Read more »
Yeah, definitely a great guy!
And yes, a timer would be dope lol.
I forget to say……. Great interview Joe!
Ta very much
For me I was a 4 track thrash/black metal guitar + mic type guy though I always had a love for all other kinds of music including stuff made on the mpc etc and always fancied a dabble….but that shizz was expensive! Plus I never thought I had a chance what with the complexity of it all. I did fancy getting getting into the hardware/software side of things though so I eventually got ableton and an mpc20….could not get into it though. It totally felt like diving in at the deep end! No idea how to get my flow on….… Read more »
Indeed!! Glad you diggin the community fam!
That point that he makes, around the 20min mark, about coming up with ideas in about 5 mins on Maschine ‘everytime’ – is SOOOOO true.
I love Maschine for that fact a whole lot. i mean, I enjoy using Live, but using Maschine has a whole different feel as far as just getting the root of an idea down, fast. The workflow just has a whole spontaneous feel that I really dig.
Now, about that arrangment tool…
…further to that, its interesting that he says that he has never experience that ‘with ANY other program’. :O
I’m still very much a beginner, so I only really have Live, and a bit of fiddling with GarageBand and a program called Soundtrack to compare it to – so maybe I don’t fully appreciate the workflow of Maschine as much as some of the more experienced guys, and those coming from the MPC.
Yeah I don’t really think there is anything that flows like Maschine man, it’s the approach to the creation process. Now they just need to flesh out the arrangement part of it further and we’d be good to go!
But hey, I can DEFINATELY feel him on starting projects, and not finishing them! :/
I’m sure we all can lol
But, to be fair, part of that is my dislike of the arranger in Maschine – I gotta pop them over to Live if I want to arrange properly!
yah, guess it depends on what you’re trying to do when arranging.
Great interview Gi saintjoe, Maschine is the shit end off! Knock u’ve made a lot of peeps spend a lot of money £$. Hope NI are sending u loads of free shit! Lol
People say that to knock and myself a lot lol. I know for sure Knock had a hand in putting me onto it, so by default, anyone I’ve influenced has been influenced by knock cuz he started my hunger for this thing lol.
It’s a circle of life….and beats!
Shoutout to MAN Cellitti
Hahahaha, you played a part in that too, wasn’t you running the camera son! lol
Yeah for sure, what u and knock have done for maschine is awesome! I certainly wouldn’t be at the level I’m at if it wernt for u two! And still ur knocking out new shit for me to learn! Know what cellitti’s talking bout getting stuff finished! Can’t seem to Get anything finished! Got all these unfinished ideas saved up till I master all my software then hopefully BOOM Beatport watch out! Lol
Yeah buddy, get them things finished! I think we all do that though, many ideas, till we find one we really run with lol.
I’m late to this interview. Glad to see it on here. Love matt’s videos too. very clear and informative.
