Before the 1.6 update, we were not able to create independent patterns when duplicating scenes. This made on the fly song creation a little bit more of a pain than it needed to be.
Luckily NI listened and we can now do this.
this tutorial shows how pattern duplication works in regards to duplicating and working on scenes

Thanks you so much!!!!!
we really pushed for this feature so were happy to see it implemented!
Good stuff, I like this function, yo, you got ten separate instances of kore player open or just one?
separate kore player instances lol
That helps a lot with the work flow as far as putting together songs. Can’t wait for independent mute on patterns and scenes though!
I agree, indy mutes/solos on scenes (independent scenes) as well as tempo, etc, will be dope, just more flexibility with the arranger is needed, I’m sure they know this though!
Yeah man… this addition was a GREAT addition. It took me to a new level making songs. The old way was not my style.
Efficiency is key to excellence. This a good change
word fellas!
Saint Joe, how’d you get it to delete real fast draggin the mouse?
What you mean? Get what to delete?
@ the 2:00 you deleted stuff from your second scene really fast. Just wondering what you pressed to do that.
Oh lol, holding down the right mouse button and moving over the notes erases them, sorry, forgot I did that!
Nice man. Thanks for the shortcut!
no doubt fam!
What if I just want to duplicate a clip (a group of chord progressions) as an intro and not an entire scene? It won’t let me do that. Thanks.
Go to the group you want to duplicate, hit the pattern button, press duplicate
How did you make the initial pattern into a scene. In the video scene one was already there b4 u duplicated it…
You automatically start on scene one when you make your first pattern.
so when i hit scene i see f1 says all when i hit this it plays all the scenes in order. now say i want to go back and have it loop just one specific scene how do you toggle back n fourth? secondly your video on pattern duplication has got me mixed up somewhat. for instance how to use this function within the arranger or scenes… eg. 4 bar loop i extend it to 8 but scene 1 is still 4 bars….
If you duplicate and create a new pattern, then it only effects the pattern in that scene, which we requested repeatedly, previously any changes made would effect all patterns lol
There is no toggle back in forth, you can only play the scenes in a chain, if you want to play them differently you can trigger them from the pads in the order you want to play but you can’t record that unless you do it in a daw via midi or program changes.
i think i got it whichever pattern i have selected will play i that scene right?
correct
Did a site search and found this – just what I needed to know. Pure gold. A related question… lets say I have a bunch of scenes ALREADY laid out for a song ( did this before I saw ur tutorial) and I want to edit one of the patterns that has repeated instances in other scenes, Is there a way to edit just that pattern, without it affecting the others? Is the only (& best?) option to duplicate the whole scene as you describe in the vid here – then edit the pattern in the new one – then… Read more »
No doubt fam, you can duplicate just a specific pattern as well, check this out
https://maschinetutorials.com/pattern-duplication-and-pattern-doubling-options
nice. you’re right, that does work for individual patterns in existing scenes as well.
yes indeed sir, glad to help!
This is awesome. I was manually duplicating patterns then editing – which you can’t really do on the fly without stopping. Thanks! Is there a way to mute an effect on a sound while it’s playing without removing the effect?
yeah if you’re on the sound then you press shift+hit the button above the fx you want to turn off
hey saintjoe is there video on this
Yeah, it looks like some of our older videos got messed up when we updated the site, we are transitioning to a new video host and some of the videos still on the old host have had issues. As we find them we fix them since we have so many videos and I am going through all of them as I can. Anytime you find one just let me know! Should be working now 🙂
Dope video. I was wondering though(different subject) when u save a song, should u delete the sounds your not using first to save space or does it matter. Also i need to learn how to back up everything in case Someting goes wrong.
I usually just do a “save project with samples” and you can choose to delete the unused samples then.
