Hey what’s good fam, got another tip for ya!
Many do not realize when sampling in Maschine you can do multiple takes.
This is good for either grabbing multiple parts form the same source, or if you’re recording a live instrument performance it allows you to record multiple times and just use the best one or you could even chop and splice parts from different takes and put them together for your track.
It’s really smooth, but can be super helpful to the workflow when you just in the groove and sampling, this way you don’t have to worry about setting up each pad to sample each time you want to do it.
You could use this method to have one pad be your sample pad and sample everything into it, then drag the takes to multiple pads.

Dope. I knew you could do multiples but I didn’t know you could just drag them to another pad. Thanks brotha!

Saint Joe,
Question about sampling and selecting my sound card (Fast Track Pro) under audio/midi settings. It s a bit strange because under devices I can select 2 times (the same!) Fast track Pro. When I select the first one I can listen to the things I ve recorded. But when I want to record I have to select the second one. Is that normal because it s annoying. After every recording you have to select the “other” soundcard to listen to your recordings .. Thanks
That doesn’t seem normal but I’ve heard of one or two cases where users have had that issue on a Mac, are you on a Mac? If not maybe it’s an issue with the driver for the fast track? That definitely shouldn’t be happening it should only show up once and you shouldn’t have to change it at all like that.
yess on a mac .. don t think is an issue with driver .. because in Ableton it works perfectly .. other suggestions ?
I would contact NI, I remember mentioning something like this to them before because we had another member with the same issue, definitely seems like something they need to get fixed. Are you running 1.8.2?
Is there a way to do this from the controller.. I´m Machine 2,2 My Workflow at the moment working with sample 1 – 2 – 3 sampled as multiple takes on one pad. On the sample master pad. Choose sample 2. Exit sample mode . Duplicate to a new pad. Return to master sample pad. Choose sample 3. Duplicate to a new pad. Return to master sample pad. Choose sample 1. That way I get the 3 samples on to different pads.. I guess there must be an easier way ??? If I just duplicate the master sample pad I… Read more »
The way you are doing it is the way it’s done, a sample isn’t really on the pad until it’s in focus, that’s why you have to do that. I’ve begged for a way to quickly assign takes to new pads directly from the history tab myself, I’m sure others have as well. But currently the way you’re doing it is the way it’s done.
Ok! Then to me (using only hardware) it´s still faster just to change pad every time you sample since the input settings stay on… Thanks for the answer.. 🙂
Yes, that’s what I do. Takes is really useful if you’re sampling the same thing and you want to try it a few different times, especially if you’re playing an instrument or something.
