Hey what’s good fam?
This tutorial is sort of a follow-up to the one I did on using Maschine as a chord or scale generator in your DAW.
This one focuses on using Maschine 2’s arp function to trigger plugins or other instruments inside of your host.
I’m using Ableton Live in this video but it will work with any host that allows MIDI routing between tracks internally.
Sometimes we can look for plugins and other tools when Maschine can function as those same sort of tools. Of course it’s not as deep as a dedicated arp plugin, but if you don’t have one or you prefer to work with Maschine’s, it’s very simple to set it up.

Can you show how to do this technique in Logic Pro X?
This doesn’t work inside of Logic Pro X because AU plugins can’t send MIDI output.
Oh right ok thanks 😉
What about 3rd party VST’s in Logic?
Unfortunately au plugins don’t support midi output.
Lol I guess that’s why I could not get it to work. Must be a way somehow. I will try and figure it out.
Yeah, that’s just a limitation of AU plugins in general, maybe Apple will update the format some day but currently you can’t send MIDI output from them.
Right. I guess I could just use my Complete Kontrol Keyboard for this.
Yeah, especially if you’re wanting to use it with Komplete sounds.
Can you do a tutorial on how to set up midi routing if u want to record maschine’s arp/chord feature midi into ableton using maschine sounds?
Hey fam, you would do it the same way, except the routing would look like this https://maschinetutorials.com/maschine-2-recording-keyboard-mode-midi-into-ableton-live-9/. You’d be routing to a midi track instead of a plugin and that midi track would have to be pointed back to Maschine.
