Many times people ask how to assign controls in Maschine to the knobs on their keyboard or other controllers.
There may be many instances when you want to do this.
For example, you may want to tweak some settings on an effect you have loaded in group H, while playing some samples from group A….how do you do this?
Once you leave group H to go to group A you can’t control what’s in group H anymore….
Unless you use macros to assign it to another controller

THANK YOUUUUUUUUUU !!!! SJ is Superman !
LOL…figured you’d like it son lol
ok ok seein u gettin it in wit the finger lol
Hahahaha, needed something to show the concept better than just a regular effect.
I have an additional question.
I have Kore Controller, is there any way to map the macros to the controller and save the group as a preset?
So everytime I load up Kore as a plugin it’s ready mapped to the controller?
I’m not at home right now, I can’t try it myself.
yeah you could if you wanted to I suppose. Does the controller not work with Kore when you open it in maschine? I don’t have the controller for Kore only the software.
The controller knobs work, but you can’t record automation from it. I know that sounds weird, but I called to why and they said it`s not possible as well.
weird indeed….
Hey Joe! Where you get drums samples?
various places lol I think these were from the illmind blap kit I bought about a month ago for 25 bucks, really dig em.
They are Hot!
word lol
Hey SJ, Can you please do a tutorial on how to use The Mouth in Maschine. Especially the vocoda bit.
Thanks bro
I can show how to set it up, but I don’t have a mic for my interface to really show it off.
That will Do FAM
First ya taught me how to automate the mixer level now you tellin me I can use a fader to do it ah this is big man!
Its not working with my Avid controller but it does work with my mpk faders so I bet it would work with the behringer fader controller
Oh yeah flying faders in maschine lol
Ahahaha, not sure if Avid uses some special language or what, it should work with any midi controller. But yeah fam, glad you can use this!
hi sj having figured out how to send a signal to my external hardware filter and back in i’m now wondering if i can automate the filtering via midi. I have tried to assign a macro and via midi learn assign functions from the filter but although it records the buttons etc from the filter when i try to use them it does not reproduce the filter effect. Essentially i would like to be able to record a bass line for example then rather than filtering live (i.e. sampling while i tweak) i would like to automate via mdi different… Read more »
the macros can only be assigned to something internal and controller from external controllers. You can’t use them to automate external devices.
ahh guess i ll have to tweak n sample then – is there another option from 3rd party plug in or anything else as a work around etc
it’s just a limitation in maschine
Very cool. I’m off on a farm in the middle of nowhere so can’t test it til tonight. But it seems like the same process should work with kontakt. Def a learning curve with this. Got my head spinning. Fx routing makes the spin happen too lol. I’m getting there though Thanks saintjoe. Awesome.
cool man, hope it helps!
great! sorta what i been searchin for…sorta as in is this available to a group? for example i want the sounds of a group sent to an external controller and still be able to use the rest of the groups/pads on the maschine controller. would be great to have a drum kit on one set of external pads while still having all my samples and synth.
You can MIDI enable any group using midi batch setup. Check this https://maschinetutorials.com/how-to-spread-your-kits-out-across-the-keyboard/
Glad to be back I see you and knocks are still the best Maschine Gurus in town!! This is indeed a most know for me man solid job. So many workflows man I’m still dizzy off the other joints you showed with the sequencing inside Maschine using the Hush vst and I’ve been gone for a few months lol!! Masters of Maschinovation I need to favorite a few of these videos and combine them to one complete workflow…Joe stop this crazy thing your killing me lol!!
hahahaha, that’s what’s up man, that’s what we aim to be, go and come as you need, we’ll still be here doing what we can to help Maschine users lol.
Glad you dig it man
good video. It looks like I might be out of luck though. anyone got a m-audio axiom 61 gen 1 working with the above method in the video?
whats the trick or does the axiom gen 1 just not do plugin control via midi?
It should work for you, once you do the “learn” and turn the knob you should be good?
its weird, I can assign the mod wheel which works great just the way you showed but I can get any of the rotary knobs on my axiom 61 gen 1 to work. I vaguely recall hearing about some mode I got to enable inside the axiom with some other software or that it just might not work no sure got to look into it more. I assumed someone on here must be using the axiom 61 gen 1 and know the trick
I used to have an axiom and it worked, I don’t remember if I had to have automap running or not though. I didn’t think so but it may have been needed.
saintjo…I have Novation Launchkey can I set up automation for Massive instead of drawing it in?
sorry for the late reply, you can map your controller directly to the knobs you wish to automate in massive and then you will be able to record those automations
you do this directly into maschine (the knobs that represent the massive macros knobs) right?…btw using 1.8..thanks for you reply
Yes indeed
Here’s a video https://maschinetutorials.com/maschine-2-0-how-to-record-automation-from-an-external-controller/
