Sampling, specifically slicing, has always been a major part of Maschine.
In Maschine 2.0 there have been a few changes in this area that make a bit more flexible.
The ability to have your slice markers independent of each other means one slice doesn’t dictate the size or location of another.
You also get better tools for manually slicing your samples quickly
Overall there are some nice additions, and a few more I hope to see in the future

When you slice up your sample weather it be from turntable, internet etc how do you save them. so you will always have those sample slices added to your library? I ask a lot of basic stuff in which I am sure you’ve answered but if you have a video please direct me to it.
The quickest way would probably be to save the group as a kit with the samples, using the “save with samples” option.

I have this one sample that when I slice it in to 16 chops – when I play the pads, or even click the individual chops in the Maschine daw for that matter, only the first chop (Pad 1) will play and when I press pad 2, 3, 4, and so on it just clicks and doesn’t play the chop…? But if I play it backwards from, say.. Pad 4, 3, 2, 1.. then the chops will play.. I haven’t been able to figure out why this is occuring and it doesn’t seem like there are any solutions online so… Read more »
Does it only happen with this particular sample? Are the slices overlapping or anything?
I think it has happened with other samples.. but this particular one is the most recent sample I’ve been working with.. If you want I can make a video of what I am talking about.. and no the slices are not over lapping.. they are all sliced like.. Kick | Hi Hat| Snare | Hi Hat.. and so on..
http://www.twitch.tv/envymecuzimmvp/b/530621308 <– This is what I'm saying.
Totally weird man, does it happen if you slice and then “apply to” so you can slice to a new group instead of a single pad? Also what happens if you change the polyphony? Right now it’s on 1 but what if you change it to 2 for example?
The slices play if they are assigned to a group/tracks. The anomaly occurs only in edit mode.. Also, the polyphony doesn’t make a difference.. whether it is set to 8 or 1 the problem still happens – but only in edit mode. Weird..
Also – where can I pm you? I’d like to ask about the adsr settings – I’m coming from the MPC and the adsr seems to be different in Maschine.. Let me know..
Hmmm, very weird indeed, especially since it only happens when previewing the slice, sounds like a bug to me. Does it happen on every sample you slice? You can ask me here, or through the forum, or through the help desk.
hey saint joe, when you grabbed that slicing button to move it to group b up above and it created 4 different sounds with your slices, what about doing it so it creates all those slices just in one sound without creating a pattern?
You can unchecke the pattern button in the slice section and just click apply
man i feel really stupid cuz that’s exactly what you said in the video, but i think i was getting at the furthermost right button in the corner there… i know for the one adjacent to it how to drag it in without it creating pattern but maybe it’s the same process for both buttons… apologize but thanks!
No problem man 🙂
thanks man, this is good stuff to know!
No problem, glad to help!
Hey SJ
How do i access No pattern directly on machine studio. Is this possible?
No but whatever you set in the software should stay the same until you change it again. I’ve always felt there should be an option to choose the pattern or not from the hardware the same way you can load kits with the pattern or not.
Thanks man!
No problem!
Next unrelated question SJ. Is there a video on how to use the Aux bus on the studio?
There is really no “aux bus” mainly you just route from the aux outputs to another group or pad that you have an effect on. I can make a video if you’d like?
I get it. I think you showed how it’s done in 1.8
Let me know if you need help fam.
After slicing up a sample and moving it to an empty sound slot, how do you change the octave of the note? When I hit the piano roll, it usually just drops to the very bottom and makes no other sounds when hitting the various pads. Thanks.
How exactly are you chopping? Is it a single slice? Or are you applying the chops to a single pad? If that’s the case then changing the octave won’t help because it’s already in keyboard mode, you would have to change it via the tune knob instead.
