The channel or “control” area has changed a little bit in Maschine 2.0, but we will make sure you understand it.
The channel area is where you control the master, group, and sound level parameters as well as where you load your effects and plugins. (though these can also be loaded from the Maschine mixer view now as well)
What you see on the screen will depend on which level you are managing. For example, the master level doesn’t have any input or midi output, while the sound level has both midi input/output, as well as audio in/out.
So this tutorial will give you a detailed look at each level, as well as explain how the macros work.

I’m glad to see they’ve expanded that option.
Yes indeed brotha
This was a bit of an adjustment for me. Hope I’m not the only one, cause I felt dumb. Lol
No doubt, it’s all good bro!
Will you have to set this up for every project your working on or can you save it as a master control for all projects ??? Not sure
Yeah this is per project
Oh Yeah how do I get my pic back on my post ??? 🙂
Set it up on gravatar.com 🙂
Thanks fam. Still Luvin the work U n Knock put in on here
No doubt fam, we appreciate the support
Can you record the modulation of automation from an external source…for example if I use my keyboard and assign it to automate a filter can I actually record that automation as I would from the maschine controller…if so how…haven’t quite got the hang of it yet…thanks man…and BIG UPS!!
Nope, unfortunately that doesn’t currently work, which sorta makes the midi learn kinda….half done. Hopefully we can get some love in that area in the future!
Cheers for all these 2.0 tutorials man. You must be flat out, their flying out the door haha. Anyways man I’m having some trouble getting tonespace to work since changing to 2.0. Its something to do with the midi routing guessing. I try setting it up like before on channel 2 with vmidi1. It just goes bananas and keeps playing sounds till i trigger the instrument it should be routing to. Thanks for your help mate.
I will have to take a look. I’ve personally moved to using the iPad for stuff like that because it seems more stable. I will see what I can discover though.
Are you trying to route internally between the sounds? Also, make sure you don’t have the vmidi input turned on for tonespace itself or you’ll get a loop.
I noticed on the macro tab that there is a + sign, are we able to set up multiple pages of macros?
Yes you can setup multiple pages 🙂
Can you still go into ‘learn mode’, move the knobs on a plug or synth, so they will assign for controlling as in 1.8? I can’t find out how. eh….
If you expand the bottom part of the control section you will see each knob had a learn button now
so just to clarify, loading an external plug in would be done on the sound section by clicking on the PLUG icon so the list comes up or would I do this in the group section?
If you want to load an instrument to play, do it at the sound level, if it’s an effect plugin and you want it over your whole group you can do it from the group level (or master level if you want it over everything at once)
cool man. thanks for clearing that up. very helpful. do you ever sleep? lol seems like you respond 24/7 to our questions lol appreciate all your assistance.
No problem man!
I’ve been asked that many times, I do sleep though 🙂
I’m new to all this so I get confused on input and output midi etc. Do you have basic videos explaining it’s functionalities with examples, Might sound stupid of me but hey if I don’t know something I ask.
No problem, MIDI input would be if you want to trigger the group/sound from a specific external controller or if you were in a DAW, MIDI output would let you send midi out from the pad to external gear.
Last thing then I’m way overdue for sleep …
I notice if I try to add a page, the macros are blank, and bc it’s not a NI plugin, I’m not able to his the “select” drop-down menu … if I wanted to add more macros for omnisphere or other 3rd party plugins, can i, and how?
I just got 2.0, and Machine Studio — i am totally unfamiliar with Maschine — and all the tutorials re: 2.0 seem designed for those already into it.
What tutorials should I watch that get me, a beginner, into the maschine?
Tutorials like this are for those new to Maschine, you’re best bet is to start with the quickstart section with all the basic tutorials
https://maschinetutorials.com/maschine-2-quickstart/
hey when I click on the macro icon in the channel section I don’t see any thing as in the video the have one thru eight channel options how can I make this visible
What you see depends on what tab you are on. Master, Group, or Sound as well as what you have loaded.
If you’re trying to assign macros you need to click that little down arrow to the left to open the automation/page menu, here’s a video that shows the process for mapping https://maschinetutorials.com/maschine-2-0-configuring-macros-and-mapping-them-to-external-controllers/
thanks that’s worked
No problem
