This tutorial video shows you how to save your individual pattern files in Maschine.
Sometimes you come up with a nice pattern but you don’t finish anything, you can quickly just save the pattern for later use in other songs or even with other kits.
You can even use this method to share your own patterns with others without needing to share the actual audio.
Just think of it as sharing a midi file, which is basically the data that is stored in a Maschine pattern file.

I make unfinished stuff all the time…LOL. Guess now I can have a purpose for them loops and pull them joints when inspiration hits thick….thnx.
yeah man lol, we all got them skeleton tracks laying around lol
i saved it the way you told me to save it but when i open it, i dont hear anything
I saved a pattern and i want to add some more instruments to it but i cant. When i opened it from my desktop and loaded it to machine, i can tell it is playing but i don’t hear anything : ( does it mean that i cant still edit my saved patterns? Plz can you help me?
Saving the pattern doesn’t save sounds, its just the pattern data, if you want to save the sounds save it as a group instead of a pattern.
Sorry to disturb you but how would i do that?
Watch the video on creating and saving your own custom kits.
ok Thanks
Just a couple of real quick Qs: • Obviously Maschine has Patterns that install with the kits. But I’ve also noticed that my ‘Patterns’ folder (Group>Filter >Pattern) is completely empty – as is yours in the video. This is normal for the default factory library, right? • Also, when you load kits Maschine gives you the option of loading just the kit, or, the Kit, with Patterns (by checking the ‘PATT.’ button But can you load JUST a pattern from the kits, but without the kit? Just curious – I can get around it easy enough by loading the pattern… Read more »
Yes, this is empty by default, if you want all the patterns you can save them all out individually. I think I had them all at one point, someone posted them on the NI forum, I’ll see if I can find those again and post them here. Or I may just go through and save them all out for the MT fam. But yes, it should be empty until you start saving patterns of your own.
Cool – just checking.
But can you load JUST a pattern from the kits, but without the kit?
no you can’t load just the patterns from the factory kits unless you first save them from each factory kit as just the patterns.
Oh, and is it possible to import a .mid midi file into a Maschine project?
maschine does not currently import midi files, another big request many of us have been making.
Yeah, alright – I’lll be sure to add my name to the list of signatures to that feature request.
Seems really odd that they would omit that – seems like a pretty basic feature for a format which is pretty much universal.
Yep, I agree lol
rediculous. all i can say
That’s whasup fam 🙂
Hey St Joe I just chopped up my sample and made a loop but went to load another group with parts of a drum kit. Now whenever I go back to play my other samples it plays my drum one shot on every pad. What am i doing wrong here?
if you chopped and just hit apply, then the chops are on 1 pad in keyboard mode. Press shift+pad mode to get into keyboard mode to play the rest of the sounds in the chop
Hey Saint Joe, are there any videos on using the groups when creating a song. I see that in the video you are using groups but patterns don’t continue to play once you change groups. Just need a better understanding of that. Thanks!
do you mean groups or scenes?
you’re group is basically a collection of sounds with it’s own patterns, some use each group for different kits, sometimes you can use one group with multiple instruments in it.
explain a lil bit more what you’re looking for so we can help ya better 🙂
wow I love the fact that u can interchange patterns like that….I had no idea that was possible or how to save it either! Sick!!! thanks SJ…these little tips go a long way!
Glad to help fam!
Question for you homie. When I save it as a mpat file can they open it in other platforms such as ableton and logic as well?
no, they are only maschine compatible, if you want to use in another daw you would export them as auido, or export the midi for your patterns.
Do you know if its possible to save patterns in Maschine 2.0, or is the midi drag button the only way to export a pattern to use between kits?
Currently it’s no longer possible unfortunately, hopefully they bring it back. Now we only have MIDI
that sucks. just spent 10mins looking for it!
Yeah I don’t know why they changed it man smh
Have they still not added this feature back in yet St. Joe?
No sir smh.
