Hey what’s good fam?
Got a question about routing multiple audio channels from Dope VST Beat Machine drum plugin into Maschine’s mixer.
I use this plugin a lot, as it has a bunch of gritty hip hop kits I can pull up quickly.
I usually get asked how I have it routed in Maschine since it’s a plugin, in order to tweak each drum sound.
It’s actually pretty easy to do, so I made a quick video showing how to set it up.
As usual, if you have any questions on this or anything else, feel free to ask, you never know who else may have the same question.

Man you read my mind I actually had this Vst saved in one of my Maschine song templates. Again we have a lot in common as I’ve always been in love with the gritty kicks and snares. I’m trying to do little things to improve workflow before finalizing tracks in a full blown DAW. Have you tried the bass Dopevst I use that too just for layering baselines. Good lucks my brother your always on point.
No doubt man, quicker than searching through a bunch of folders lol. Between this, the NI expansions, and BFD when I want some real drums, I’m usually covered lol. I have their bass plugin also, good stuff.
Thank you so much for this ‘simple’ video bro. But ever since i have set up Beat Machine …there have been “spikes in CPU” while recording, playback and performance causing ‘drag or delay’?? Never had that before with any issues in Maschine 2.3 with any of the many plug ins that I work with??
Question:
Is there a way to change the Dope VST plug ins between 32 & 64 bit for better performance without CPU spikes? If so, which is better and how do I change that??
Please advise.
Only way to use it in 32 bit is to put Maschine in 32 bit mode.
Thank you so much Saint Joe!
This is great xmas gift!
You and Knock have a great xmas!
No problem fam, glad to help!
You Too Bro
Dope program
No doubt bro.
seems like some of the midi routing is very different for the MKI not able to get this to work. I swear I feel like I run into a ton of issues trying to follow many of the tutorials with my old standby lol. One of these days I’ll get the new one until then I must suffer.
Well if you’re using 2.0, the software works exactly the same, and there’s no midi routing going on in this video. On mk1 you can change your keyboard octaves still using buttons 7/8 over the right screen, so button 7 will let you go down to the octave you need.
I’ve been using that method to hear the sounds on the main channel but I don’t hear it when I try using pad mode/keyboard mode and assigning separate inputs.
You have to make sure you’re using the proper presets, with the 4 in front of them. And make sure you’re on pad 1 when triggering it.
Interesting thing I noticed that you don’t trigger it from the other pads as you mentioned I saw that from watching your tutorial. I knew about the “4” symbol but it was the pad triggering that threw me off. I thought if I hit those numbered pads that would trigger the sound, but I see now that those are just channels for the audio. Seems to be working right I knew something was missing, too bad all the presets don’t work that way oh well, thanks my brother.
Yep, the other pads are just the audio outputs. All of the presets work, as long as you pick the ones with the 4 in front, they are the exact same as the ones with the 1 in front, they just use the separate outputs where the ones with the 1 in front use the single stereo output.
Oh I didn’t notice that there were more presets that are just duplicates of the others with the “1’s” in front of them. Nice!!! I didn’t realize that..
No doubt fam 🙂
Yooo…I’m glad somebody finally did a tutorial on this because I copped it some months ago and STILL couldn’t figure how to route this joint. I felt like I wasted my money….lol. Thanks!
Glad to help fam!
Glad to have found this; I bought BM2 on sale, yesterday. I know that there are differences from the first Beat Machine, which I don’t have, and one of those differences is that there are five pads instead of four. Also, when I followed the instructions on the video, the sounds on the pads were spread out a bit; like almost one sound for every other pad. I had to hold down the Pad Mode button while in keyboard mode and dial down the Scale knob to Major. After doing this, the pads worked in order from 1-5, which also… Read more »
Yeah I haven’t used BM2 yet, but I find that with many plugins if you use different scales it works better, depending on how they have it setup. All white notes, all black notes, etc.
Since it’s in keyboard mode, you can’t add any samples into the “kit” so to speak. You could have more samples in the group if you want, but you’d have to jump out of keyboard mode in order to play them. Remember when setting it up like this, you’re basically only playing one pad, it’s just spread across the keys.
Well I thought that I wasn’t able to add samples in this way, but thought I’d ask. 🙂 I guess I could make that a group, and then use another group as a way to add what i like. The nice thing about the pad method in your video is that if there’s a sound in the kit that I want to replace or otherwise get rid of, I can mute it. Honestly, between Beat Machine, all of the Komplete 10 drum kits, and all of the Logic drum kits and instruments alone, oh and Drumsynth in Maschine, if I… Read more »
HAHAHAHAHAHA I feel you man, we are most def spoiled these days. I remember back in the day buying floppy disk with 1.4mb of drums for the mpc LOL
Iv done exactly like you have in the video, but when i hit snare and hats pads nothing happens. Iv put myself in the right octave and still have no luck. do you have any suggestions ?
Make sure you’ve loaded the multi-out kit and not the stereo out kit.
Do you mean weather it has a one or four next to it? because iv done and still no luck
Yeah, the version with the 4 is required, other than that it should work as long as you’ve setup the routing accordingly, meaning each pad is set to receive input from one of the outputs of the first pad.
Hi ,
i have maschine 2.9 and mk3. i make the same by video on my maschine , but i can not route.
pad 1 triggers the kick, i go in pad 2 /snare /sound/input …s2,nothing.
before i load a drumkit for 4 channels.
can you help me please;-)
It has been a while since I used this. What version of the plugin are you using? Did you make sure to send the proper outputs for each pad? Did you load the kit that uses separate outputs for each sound?
Hi,
got it thanks 😉
No problem, enjoy!
Sup Joe,
I don’t see the link for this video? Can you post a tutorial about routing the New Beat Maschine 3? I hope and pray you are good bro!
Yo what’s good fam! Video should be showing now, had to refresh to code for the embed. I haven’t tried version 3 of this plugin, but if they didn’t remove the routing options it should still work this way.
