Hey just another tutorial showing how to get “pseudo” audio tracks in Maschine
Knock showed this method when doing vocals and I just want to show it for those using external synths and instruments as the questions was asked how to record your keyboards into Maschine
Sometimes you don’t want to deal with MIDI, and sometimes you have older gear or live instruments that do not have MIDI input, so live audio recording is the way to go
This video shows how to set it up so you can work fast and quick and basically gives you audio tracks in Maschine by exploiting the sampler and sequencer

yeah brotha….to hell with the back pocket this is going in the front pocket.
Many things come to mind after seeing this!!!
Yessssss, get it in bro!
Ya for sure doing that I’m thinking ideas on the fly would keep coming! I see you like that Ultranova I guess you would recommend it,I’m thinking of getting a hardware synth. Good way to record man!
Indeed man it’s nice, love recording live man.
yeah man !!!! Dope !! LOL… I see the ideas coming so fast when you just scanning through sounds and then boom you record them
Yessssssss I prefer recording my hardware this way
No doubt flickin through the patches something exciting has to hit ya for sure!
Yes indeed fam
Dope video St. Joe! You just blasted my mind back for a bit!! Bout2 dust off some old equipment and squeeze some more sounds out of it…
Cool man that’s what its all about sir, have fun.
Nice. I’ll have to try this out.
Yeah bro, most of the time I like to just record in real time from my external gear
Can Def be very creative with this work flow. Thanks bro
no doubt fam
Oh Okay now Im putting 2 and 2 together. using this method I can record vocals and do full blown production in Maschine with no need for a DAW. preciate you and Knock for that info
indeed, you basically making audio tracks and triggering them as samples. Put them on adsr and they only play where the note is, no overlapping
Gotta Question Fam. When ur previewing the sounds as the drum track is playing, are all those sounds from ur ultra nova ora library u have on ur PC.or both. Thanks
all nova in this video fam
yes, i prefer record my others gear into machine….thanks for this video, is great way to record them!
peace.
yeah that’s how I work with external gear too, much more fun for me lol
Do you have the video on how u set the keyboard up ….I am guessing thru the interface right…. Just show the hardware setup .Also who how refresh us how to change the software setting again.
You mean how I record it into maschine? I just plugged the audio output from my keyboard into my interface.
as for preferences in the software, check this
https://maschinetutorials.com/understanding-the-preferences-tab/
How do you I SET UP Saffire 56 with maschine 2.0 using my MX49 to record directly into Maschine??
Pretty straight forward connection, just plugging int he audio inputs from the keyboard. Plug your Saffire up to your computer, set it as your interface in Maschine. Plug your MX outputs into a set of inputs on the Saffire. Set those inputs to be your input in Maschihne and record.
Thanks big homie
no doubt doc!
hi SJ
I have used this method to record vocals into the track which i can now time stretch – but i cannot manage to then effect the vocals using the mouth please can you help?
cheers
G
The mouth needs to be midi triggered like the finger, check this out
https://maschinetutorials.com/how-to-use-the-finger-inside-of-maschine/
cheers SJ i still seem to be having problems as weh i try to send the sound out the group that i have reaktor set up in is not on the list – is this only possible in the full version of the mouth or should it work in demo mode?
cheers
g
No it works, you just need to make sure you have reaktor loaded on the first slot of a pad, then you can route stuff to it
thats what i though it s not showing up was fine before i did the upgrade perhaps i need to re install the mouth ???
Make sure you have the Reaktor FX loaded and not the regular one.
ahh ha yup overlooked that ur the man SJ (as always) !!
No problem man, glad to help!
SJ – I was digging through these older vids while I’m trying to get a couple externals hooked up, and wouldn’t you know, I got a question:
I’m running an ipad from the headphone jack into an 1/4″ jack on a scarlett 2i2, and all I’m able to get is a mono channel response into maschine in sampler mode. The thing is, in the maschine routing tab, I don’t seem to have a multi-channel option. What am I missing?
If you only have one input being used, it will only be one side, you’d have to run it into both of your inputs to get both sides active
Hey Joe, so I looked at a couple of vids and Im lost as far as midi set up goes.
I would love to put the planett phatt, jv 1080, motif es into play. I like yourself want to just sample from these units directly into maschine. (I have a Roland A-33 midi controller I can use to trigger the rack modules) The audio interface I have is the tascam 1080 and it has 2 midi in and 2 midi out…. I have already routed the audio into the interface…Any guidance or ideas would be appreciated
You’ll need to connect them all via midi using the in and thru of the synths if you want to midi trigger them. I use a midi patch bay to trigger my modules from the same controller and just play them I live into my tracks using sync sample.
Gota question Joe,
when recording a mono instrument (like a bass guitar) I only get audio coming through one speaker while recording/previewing. Once i record and playback, the sample plays back stereo. Is there a way around this because it sucks trying to lay down a bassline only hearing it through one speaker if you know what im sayin.
Thanks man
Man maschine is weird like that, you could try putting like guitar rig in front of it as an input so it outputs in stereo and sample from that. We need real mono inputs so we can monitor a mono input properly.
Thats a good workaround, thanks man!
no doubt, N.I. should make that happen.
Yes indeed man I definitely look forward to no workaround
Hello Saint Joe and thanks for the tutorials. I am learning a lot and maybe I should have started with something a little simpler than the
Maschine Studio but you make it look easy. Anyway I was following your directions to record some guitar but when playing back it seems that it plays just the first two seconds of the sample. Also the sample doesn’t loop. Does it have something to do with the midi interfering?
It could be that your pattern isn’t long enough or you didn’t put a long enough note in the pattern so that the sample will keep playing.
It’s a 4 bars pattern. Sample settings are mono in external syncd.
Is your sample set to adsr, do you have a note in the pattern for the sample that lasts 4 bars?
It’s set to 8 polyphony. I will change the settings. I will be recording some guitars and other instruments in mono and have to make sure they can play back simultaneously, which setting do you recommend?
Asdr for the samples and make sure your pattern is long enough. As long as you don’t put them in the same choke group your samples will play together fine.
for some reason, on my Mac and iPhone, this vid and a few other vids just aren’t showing up. The text for the page will load, and some other pages videos will load just fine, but this one and a few others just aren’t showing up. Which sucks cuz this vid is just what I need, as I just found a used MPK mini mk3 for $50 at a pawn shop and want to hit the ground running with it.
every vid I’ve been able to watch, however, has been 100% on point
Try it now. The technology that displays the videos has been updated some sometimes we come across a video that needs to be refreshed.
Feel free to let me know of any you come across and I’ll check it. Should be showing though.
got it, thanks man!
Glad to help!
