Hey what’s good MT fam?
This is just a quick video I put together as kind of a spin off of my Arturia BeatStep in Maschine video.
I wanted to show how quick it is to come up with new melodies in Maschine using the step sequencer.
I show how to change the pitch, length, and velocity to quickly come up with new ideas.

Dope, thanks for the tip.
Glad to help
Cool. I should check if this is a hassle to do with the MKI. If not, i didn’t had to buy a beatstep. Or maybe just for the cv gate stuff on it. Thx SJ
You can do the same thing on the other controllers, of course no cv in maschine though lol.
Really Dope idea!! This is one of those methods where you can stumble upon a dope pattern, where you may have not been able to create with regular sequencing. Definitely should do a follow vid on this method!!
Exactly, stumble upon something cool just by experimenting.
great video!
Glad to help man
Dope !
Have fun with it man
New to Maschine, the Site, and production in general. This definitely helps, respect!
Welcome fam, glad to help!
This if fun bro!
Thanks for sharing 😀
No doubt man
What are you using for the stand to hold your studio
It’s a quick lok ql400 stand
thank you much
Ok! Now I would have never thought of that. Gotta try that out.
Just a different way of getting creative 🙂
Hi saintjoe
using a maschine Mk2 and the step sequencer
how can I change the velocities on the notes in the hardware? On the right hand display the pads and their velocities show, but unlike the software I cannot see a way of adjusting them, indvidually
my setting for the software is 100% sensitivity and velocity scale is soft 3 as you mentioned before.
cheers
You can use event mode options https://maschinetutorials.com/editing-individual-note-position-length-velocity-and-pitch/
Thans very much saintjoe
awesome video link,so much stuff is hidden, until you know how,lol
You are the guru of all things maschine,ha,ha!
Glad to help man!
Ok had a play with that idea works great, saintjoe! So,if Iam roughing out a beat with the step sequencer(I am rubbish at beats usally, need to make more effort and practise,ha,ha) I guess it would be a nice idea to use the select function, and really fine tune ,(sorry no pun intended) the notes, either individually,or in a batch kind of way? And I’m thinking the way you showed this video, the pattern could be called fine editing or so ething,ha,ha the new few months is going to be a great fun time learning saintjoe! sorry this sounds a bit odd, newbie to the… Read more »
Also remember there are no rules. And you have the arpeggiator also. Just have fun with it man, no rules!
I hear you saintjoe,ha,ha
just tried out this idea of editing in a expansion project,it really works
So you mentioned the same applies to the arpeggiator also? Thats handy to know.Got 11.41pm here in the UK,looks like a late night, really buzxing with ideas,ha,ha
Got to be the coffee!
Thanks again
Well just saying you can use the arp as well to come up with some melodies 🙂
Once you record the arp into your pattern you can go in and edit those notes also.
Can you use this method and the method in the link above to edit automation of parameters such as cutoff, res, and anything else someone might want to automate?
You can automate parameters in step mode if you want, go into step mode, then when you press a pad/step, you will get access to parameters for the current sound or plugin, so any change you make will be applied on that specific step.
