It’s much quicker to do things to individual events or even a selected range of events in Maschine 2.0, and doing this from the Maschine Studio controller is definitely very intuitive.
In this tutorial I show how to quickly select all the events for a specific sound, a range of events, or individual events.
Once you have these selected you can do whatever you wish to them like copy, paste, nudge, pitch, delete, change the volume, etc.
This works together with the Maschine 2.0 edit mode in the arranger but it is not specifically tied to only those options

Thx chief. Perfect!
No problem fam, glad to help!
Great tutorial man! This was what I was thinking about when I posted my question on the previous edit-tutorial. The ability to select some of the kicks, without selecting all of the events. Wasnt aware that one can use the knobs one and two (start and endpoint). This is a really valuable tip to know.
Figured that’s what you meant fam, glad to help.
Thanks for clearing that up Joe – although I struggle to see the logic of having to necessarily go into Arrange view > Pattern to adjust Postion, Length, Pitch etc etc.
I’ve been going NUTS assuming that this stuff could be accessed when holding down JUST the EVENTS button. That – to me – would seem LOGICAL.
I cannot work out the advantage of having to go into sub-menus to do this.
Probably because once you go into the events button, you can manipulate data in different ways as opposed to just holding down “events” who knows, but once you got it, it’s good 🙂
Yeah, I guess.
Would just make a lot more sense for ALL functionality for events to be, you know, under the Events button. 😛
I’ve just got to spend more time with the Studio – I’ve been finishing all my old joints on my MK1 still! I still haven’t imported and tagged all my libraries into MK2/Studio.
Are you definitely finding everything to be faster on the Studio?
I feel ya man lol, not sure why it’s two places, I thought you meant just being able to move items while holding the events button, now I get what you mean 🙂
I’m faster for mostly everything on the Studio now, I feel a bit crippled when I go back to the MK2, which is still dope, I’m just used to the Studio now.
Cool – I was on the fence about just sticking with the MK1. Just seems silly having both here.
I’m sure I’ll get faster on Studio as I go. Are we able to import patterns yet? ( I really miss that feature – i get heaps of ideas that way)
Only if you use MIDI import…
Joe,
I’m trying to edit some notes from controller but I’m noticing two things:
If I select notes with left right arrow (the ones next to left screen), the right screen doesn’t show what I’m necessarily selecting. Also, the right screen only shows two notes at a time — is there a way I can effectively zoom out on that so I can see everything?
Yup, knob 5 🙂
Thanks for that Saint Joe, very helpful!
Always glad to help!
Cool video thanks! How are you displaying the volume bars in the right screen?
Glad to help! Which volume bars are you referring to? Velocity? They show up when editing velocity for the notes.
Also, make sure you’re in the arranger events view
Hey! Yes velocity. I’m in arranger events but I only see the notes no velocity graph.
Thanks
Oh I see now. I was in Keyboard mode! It only shows that when not in keyboard mode.
Ahh yeah, cool, glad you got it 🙂
Hey great tutorial! I just have one question…
Lets say I have kick hits on beats 1 2 3 4. How can I select the kicks on beats 2 and 4? It seems to me that using the Selection Start and End knobs only lets me select kicks on beats 1 and 2 or kicks on beats 3 and 4. Thanks!
It would probably be easier to select the individual hits one at a time in that situation.
I see that you can change the notes after they are already entered but is there a way to use the paintbrush/pencil tool to draw in notes on the controller? Just wondering
Yeah, you just turn on the paint tool at the bottom to paint in notes. Or without that you can enter notes by double clicking in the sequencer to place a note.
Is there a way that I can select multiple notes that are on one pad but aren’t necessarily next to each other on the hardware? For example there are notes for the snare on beats 1,2,3 and 4. I want to just select notes 1,2 and 4 in the hardware. How do I do that? I figured out how to do it in the software with the select. Just curious if it’s possible in the hardware.
Currently you’d have to use a combination of selecting a single event and selecting a range, you can do this by using the start/end of the event selection. You wouldn’t be able to “exclude” a note from within the start/end of a specific range though.
Was trying to figure out how to do this with the MK3 seeing as there still isn’t a manual for it yet! This video was perfect. One extra thing which I noticed the MK3 can do is you can scroll through each note inside the group using the directional encoder.
Yeah, the d-pad or whatever they call the knob now definitely opens up some new navigation options. Glad this helped!
