One of the improvements of Maschine 2.0 specifically with the Maschine Studio is the amount of visual feedback you get on the controller.
This makes using the event edit mode really slick because you can drill down into individual notes in your sequence and edit things like pitch, position, volocity, and length very easily.
In this tutorial I show how to use the event edit screen to adjust the groove of your drums as well as fix the position of notes you may have mis-played
I definitely enjoy this function from the controllers, the edit screen in general is great on the Maschine Studio as well as the MK2 controller

Thanks for the tutorial!
I have a question.. I’ve been trying to look in the manual if there are any ways to select two, or more, events at the same time by using the controller(without selecting ALL events). Lets say in your tutorial, if you wanted to select half your kick-events to do some editing on them.
Or do we have to choose either ALL, NONE or one? It would be slick if we could edit several events, from the controller, without having to select ALL. Is using the mouse and highlighting them in the software the only option?
Yeah you can actually select multiple events, all events on one pad, or just specific events on the pad use the events button instead, I will do a video on it
Cool, thanks:)
Here ya go fam https://maschinetutorials.com/maschine-studio-using-the-events-button-to-edit-individual-notes-or-note-ranges/
excellent video. thank you.
No doubt fam, glad to help
Saint,
I’m working with a new club beat with an accapella. I have the intro on scene 1, with the beat coming in on Scene 2. The problem I’m running into is with the accapella that drops towards the end of scene 1 and needs to flow into scene 2. How do I get it to overlap scenes without making scene 1 longer? I know I’m doing it wrong but can’t figure out what it is. Thanks
The only thing you can do really is trigger it as a oneshot and it will keep playing until it’s done, unfortunately there is no way to have anything play/continue across scenes in a simple fashion yet. Another way to do it is to chop it up and put the notes for it across the scenes with the different parts as needed.
Thanks bruh. That’s what I ended up doing, had to chop it again to put the first two words on scene 1 and the rest started on the one in scene 2.
No doubt fam!
I just left a note on a different editing video, but this is what I want … I’m feelin all this, but my issue is that on my left screen, there’s only a sliver selected, and then because of that, I don’t see much data in my right screen. How can I expand the selection on my left screen (meaning the white rectangle)
Use knob number 5 to zoom in/out (turn it to the left to zoom out to see more)
Joe, one more, sorry … Is there a way when editing like this that the left right arrows can go through ALL notes in the pattern, and not necessarily for the selected sound/pad?
You can press “all” to select everything but the arrow will only go through one at a time.
Damn it. I really want you to let me delete posts so I don’t sound like a total idiot. I completely watched the video and spaced — I see KNOB 6 and 7 zoom in and out. Sigh. 🙂
One thing I’m pretty sure isn’t there – can I change velocity of notes from jogwheel at all, or does it have to be KNOB 4 under left screen?
Ahahahahahaha 🙂
No on the jog wheel, I requested the same thing initially, basically would like to be able to use it for more editing purposes.
would also be great to use jog wheel to scroll through notes, esp if you have a lot in a pattern.
Also, when you say:
“You can press “all” to select everything but the arrow will only go through one at a time.”
<< Where do I press "all"? Thanks!
on the right screen 🙂
Oooh, you didn’t say I have to press SHIFT first 🙂
What screen are you in man? lol
The events from the arranger screen or the events button in the transport?
Oh no, that didn’t do it either
I’m not sure what you’re saying. I’d like (if it’s possible) in the left screen to have the option to select ALL notes in a pattern, and not have to select the pad first and then go through the events for that pad
All notes for all pads or just one pad?
There are two ways to edit events, in the arranger view, and with the events button
If you use the events button by the transport, you can select all notes simply by hitting a pad. or by pressing “all” on the right screen.
Events edit from the arranger section is more for individual notes
Got it. playing with it now 🙂
Don’t ask me why there are two event sections, I’m still trying to figure that out myself, but once you realize what they both can do you’ll know which one to use for what. They work good together also for quickly selecting all events and such.
The jog and arrows should be all purpose in maschine. I dont understand why they didnt make it that way from the jp. They pretty much emulated the mackie control so it should work the same
I agree
You mention in the text above the vid that this edit screen in general is great on the Maschine Studio as well as the MK2 controller. On the MK2 is there an arrange for patterns or only for scene mode?
There’s no arrange screen like on the Studio as the screen size is different and doesn’t really lend itself to an arrange screen like the larger Studio screens.
awesome video. I have a question.
Pattern one Kit loaded. I play 4 Sounds. Its Banging… Say kick, snare, hats, vox. I double it up and make 4 Scenes in all.
I play it back and I want to remove Kick Snare HAts for Intro scene. I want to remove another sound scene 2 ect….
can I go into the arranger and delete individual sounds or do I have to do that from the piano roll in the software?
You would do it from the piano roll in the pattern, or use multiple patterns, one for each scene. You can use the duplicate button to make duplicate patterns and then remove the elements from the ones you want to use in different scenes.
Great video again St. Joe. I see a lot of manipulation in there but I don’t see a delete function for a single note much the way I could go in to the software’s piano roll and delete a note or a few. I’m just curious as to if I can do it from the maschine itself. scene1 + scene2 + scene3 + scene4 = song 🙂 PATERN1: (1111) (1111) (1111) (1111) = song I want to go into the first Scene and delete (“1”) to make it intro scene (1*11) (my best diagram) lol does it make sense. English… Read more »
Ahahaha I get it 🙂
Well, you could select individual notes using the select option, or you can hold down erase + the pad you want to delete the note on in realtime it will delete whatever notes are on that pad as long as you hold down the pad and erase.
ahhhhhhhhhh real time. I got it. 🙂 thanks again.
No problem fam!
