If you’re new to Maschine Studio you may be wondering how to adjust the tempo, especially if you’re coming from the MK1 or MK2 controllers.
There is no tempo knob so to speak, there is a tap tempo button, and there is a jog wheel.
In this quick video I show how tempo is adjusted from the controller for those who have been asking.
I know it’s not quite in your face in terms of how to do it, but once you see it done you’ll be fine.

man! look at that jogwheel!!! I love “quick tips” vids… (though i did know this one)
hahahaha, no doubt
Is there a way to change the tempo in the middle of the project? Like we do on pro tools?
There is currently no way to automate tempo changes within the project
O can’t understand that.LIke that way i have to do 2 projects and export for protools to do what i want . Saint jO, do you think that the software maschine 2.0 is much better ?
We’ve been wanting to have multiple tempos/tempo changes within a single project for a while, hopefully one day it comes. Even with some of the stuff I want to see improved I like 2.0 better for my workflow, mainly the unlimited groups and the mixer are things I use a lot, along with the updates to audio editing.
Odd question of the day. I see the word swing on the jog wheel but I seem to only be able to adjust the swing in the groove section or using nudge in step mode. Does that thing actually light up and do anything at all? Many reviews say you can adjust the swing throughout the jog wheel but i can not figure it out. I am sure that I am missing something.
You can hold a group button, or a single pad, then use the arrow to navigate to swing and turn the jog wheel
Probably a simple question St Joe, I have just used 5 scenes to creat a song, just a simple drum track that i like to play along with, is there a way i can stop the track without it continuing to loop back to scene 1? after i finish scene 5, I want to play the song on my guitar but it is annoying how the song just starts again.
Many thanks bro.
unfortunately it just loops by default, you could make another scene after it, with a super long blank pattern in it, not the prettiest solution but it should work for you 🙂
Hey Joe,
On the Mikro, is there a way to tap out the tempo in 2.0? I know with 1.8 it was fairly easy…but now when the main button is pressed, and I press tempo…”enter”, which I would normally use to tap out a tempo…doesn’t work.
Any insights would be useful.
Thanks,
75Crates
Tap tempo on the mikro mk2 is shift+note repeat (tap) or on the original mikro is shift+enter(tap)
Thanks Joe…I got the original…and that worked, nice and easy.
Thanks.
No problem fam!
im new to the group, jus purchased maschine studio,,,,i am lost in every way!!!!I use pro tools to do my recording…….but now I want to do trackouts in pro tools….I have pro tools 8le……but I cant seem to find my plug in for it!!!!any suggestions????also I want to use my kronos with the maschine….how do I intergrate the two…..I love my kronos sounds…but im starting to love the maschine sounds….how can I use both?
Make sure you’ve installed the RTAS version of the plugin to use it in PT. As for using external gear checkout some of these videos https://maschinetutorials.com/category/external-sound-sources/
You’ll basically have to sample your sounds/riffs from the kronos to get them into Maschine. So if you play a sequence, you’ll have to sample that so it’s a sample inside of Maschine.
Thanks man, I was just looking for that tempo button lol, this so very helpful.
No problem, yeah, it’s kinda weird they did it this way in my opinion.
Just ordered my Maschine Studio, in the mail and I just joined your site. Huge fan of your youtube page and appreciate you always being up on the best stuff in sound design and production. I hope NI is paying you guys because I swear I bought this product from seeing you the kits and features of the Studio in your vids. Thanks for doing all of this, it’s a huge help. Couple of Questions: 1) how did you get that modified jog wheel? 2) Is NI going to do an update at all so that FL will be able… Read more »
Glad to help man, thanks for the support! We definitely don’t get paid from NI, though you’re not the first to say that, would be nice lol. 1. I took it off of a roland fandom LOL 2. I’m not sure what you mean by step mode/controller mode? The limitation is in FL in terms of why you have to go into controller mode as all DAWs do not allow MIDI to be received from a plugin track to another track. 3. Yeah that’s mainly for controlling transport while in Maschine mode, you can still go into controller mode and… Read more »
What about if I want to change the tempo on an specific pattern in a project? Am I able to do it?
Maschine doesn’t allow us to have multiple tempos/tempo mapping, it’s been a long standing feature request though, unfortunately it’s not possible yet.
i dont see a video….
