Yo what’s good fam, back with a really quick tip for sampling and chopping in Maschine.
Some may forget that we do indeed have the option to manually add our own chops/slices.
Of course there is the manual, adjust start/end point then duplicate to different pads, which I do often.
But there is also a way to manually add slice points in the slice menu.
Now while I wish we could have a bit more control in terms of where the slices show up when we add them, even without that currently, it’s still a quick way to add your own chops.
What I dig about this, is that sometimes seeing your whole collection of chops at once generates different ideas and slice points than when doing the manual copy to pad and edit way.
Just another way that may be useful to ya

Tottaly agree on what you said that it woold be great to just klick on the mouse and set youre slice there where you mouse was!
Nice video bro , thumbs up 😉
Yeah, hopefully they add it in an update, we’ve definitely let them know our desire for something like that, even without that, I can move really quick slicing this way 🙂
I’ve just tryed it to, works great indeed, never did it like that before, so great advice bruh
Peace
good stuff fam, enjoy!
Is this mostly how you do your chops Joe? I’ve always gone for auto-detect, and then checked and edited those – sometimes adding and deleting chops – seems to work pretty good.
Quite a few things annoy me about sampling in Maschine – I don”t think that the resolution on the hardware is accurate enough to really be a huge visual aid for detail.
Also – it would be nice if there was a moving playhead when you trigger the sample while you are slicing stuff – would help you find chops faster, I think.
moving playhead has been a huge request for a long time, they are aware, let’s hope they fix it.
I chop things various ways man, just really depends on what I’m working with and how I’m feeling lol.
Also wish that there was a way to access functions like Fade Out, Reverse etc from the hardware…
… this isnt’ possible, is it?
Yes, when you press sampling button, then go into the edit screen, you can access all those funcitons
I wish we could access them on a per slice basis though 🙂
This is a good one Sj, with so much in Maschine it’s easy to miss some of these options.
Bout to see what it do lol
Thanks:)
You know me man, I’m always trying to share these lil tips with the fam
Yes sir, you are my hero!
I never knew good video saint joe
glad to help my dude
‘…Yes, when you press sampling button, then go into the edit screen, you can access all those funcitons…’
Ah…just to clarify – you have to press the ‘Audio’ Button once in sampling mode to access these. Thanks a bunch SJ – I didn’t think that was possible.
Always learning on MT!
Yes indeed sir 🙂
Thanks for this one, I never even tried that add button but I will be now.
Indeed man, just another tool in the toolkit 🙂
Yeaaaaaaaah…thats what I’m talkin’ bout!
Yes indeed man yes indeed!
Good stuff SJ. Finally had a chance to watch this joint and I am glad I did!
no doubt fam, glad to help yo
The audio sensai teaches once again. I am going to try this myself. Also..i do agree with you on the needed update. Would love to just click in the file.
No doubt bro, I’m looking forward to some improvements in that area, but until then, I can manage, it’s pretty quick once you get used to it man. But I also want to be able to manually slice from the hardware, using the knobs to move a cursor or something, then being able to press a button to add a slice, hoping for some goodies in the future man.
Dope one kid… Quick question. Maybe something I missed in a early video… But when I click apply to apply the chop and try to record playing what I want it doesn’t record… It lays all the chops out(which I don’t want) and plays it. Is there away to apply the chops, and play/record what I want… Did hear you says you can drag and drop… But to be able to apply and play/record would be dope!!! If that made sense… LOL Site is dope fam!!! Keep up the good work!
yeah you can hit apply to apply the chops to the pad or apply to, and press and empty group to apply the chops there. It will automatically make a pattern, but just press shift+pad 9 (clear) to get rid of that and make your own. Hoping they come with an update to chop without creating a pattern, we’ve been asking for that for a while.
this is a great quick tip – – didn’t know it was there…..for me this method works way better than grid
Indeed, hopefully they go a step further and make it so we can just quickly chop the samples using the mouse or the controller to put the slice exactly where we want.
Yo thanks Joe!!! You’re right it would be dope if they updated that… Thanks again kid!
No doubt fam, glad to help!
yo this is really dope..thanks for all your hard work my dude
no doubt fam, glad to help, hope it’s useful to ya!
