A great feature of the Maschine hardware is quickly being able to hold a pad and adjust the volume, swing, or pitch/tune of it simply by turning a knob
With the Maschine MK2 controller update, the three knobs used for this shortcut were replaced with a single large knob and 3 buttons.
The quick adjust options are still there and still work fast, this video shows how to do it on the MK2 controller

Hmmmm…not really sure that I would actually like that better than having dedicated knobs for each function as we do already on MK1. Seems like an extra little unnecessary step in there.
Overall SJ, how do you like the new hardware? On first appearances, it really doesn’t look sufficiently evolved for me to trade in my MK1 Maschine just yet.
I was really expecting some more substantial changes to the MK2.
It really feels like a better controller, the feedback from the buttons and the improved pads, as well as the feel of the knobs (smoother) and the improved usb port, good stuff.
Not required update, but if you can, you’d dig it. I prefer this layout actually, it’s really not that much of an extra step and there are no mistakes in what you’re doing
I like it because i often found that i would mistakenly turn the tempo knob when trying to adjust the volume. And undo doesn’t work on tempo changes.
Exactly man!
I see that you can adjust the pitch of a sample by using the tune knob, but is there an easy way to fine adjust the pitch of a plug-in instrument (like Massive) from the controller?
I’d rather not mess with the pitch of my sample, but I can’t get any of my instruments to sound right with it.
That’s gonna be more dependent on the actual plugin itself, since it’s a plugin it’s not controlled by the pitch/tune in the sampler module.
You could use shift+ pads 13-14 to change the semitone or octave of your recorded notes
Hey saint joe! Looking for a video explains what the enter button does on the mk2… Trying to get myself all through the basics! Thsnks!
Sorry I missed this bro, I been redoing my whole lab for the past few weeks and missed a few questions! It’s usually a basic “enter” like if you’re in a menu and you wish to apply or go into a certain area, it will change depending on which screen you are in.
wusgud bruh..Really love your tutorials!!! very clear short and concise.. quick question.. I have a MK2 second gen.. Im having trouble turning down the volume of the sound via the hardware.. Im able to see the value and see the value decrease in dbs but its not lowering the sound on my pad. Im holding down the pad and turning the knob in the master section. .also the volume button is lit as well. I hear no difference in volume .. however it works to turn down the group which is A and also it works for the master volume… Read more »
Glad to help fam, definitely sounds like you’re doing it right though. Is it a new one or an older one? Have you tried it in a different port? As long as volume is lit, and you’re holding the pad, turning the wheel should change the volume indeed.
Don’t worry about it. I got it working.. For some reason its working now.. I initially thought you had to be in sampler menu in the sound menu to be able to get that function to work.. otherwise. its working fine now
I’m having a weird problem. I’m using the “jazz brush” kit, trying to make some patterns of my own, and this kit seems to have a “swing” of its own that i can’t change no matter what i do. That is – i can increase the swing, but it just won’t give a normal 4\4 0% swing. Trying to create a pattern with the brush hi hats, and i tried messing with the sound swing, group swing and master swing. None of those changed the basic initial swing this kit comes with. Any ideas what to do? What am i… Read more »
Are you trying to adjust the premade patterns?
Also, for swing to work, the grid has to be on so make sure the step grid is active.
