Yo what’s good fam, back with another DAW integration tutorial.
In this video I’m showing how to MIDI sequence Maschine inside of Studio One V2
They made some minor changes that makes it a bit simpler to see what’s going on when using Maschine as a module and recording the midi data into S1
This is good for those that prefer the linear arrangement options in a DAW like Studio One, but still want hands on control of your sounds and samples inside of Maschine
As always, let me know if you have any questions!

really nice workflow i’m going to try this one nice tip , and this beat is dope i’m feelin it i noticed u got these bonnie mayfield drums they sound really cool. 🙂
Yeah I just have the small pack he did for the “fundamentals of neo soul” dvd, he had a section on there on production and those drums came with it
Ugh!!! Get it all smoove man! I like how you got that Faderport set up. That’s a genius move right there! 😉
No doubt lol, heard about the prime real estate for the faderport on the UN from a good friend over steak tacos with a hint of lime 😉
You just named my lunch sir! Time to grub!
Hahahahaha lol
Yeah this is another excellent options Sj. This method is also great for just added on that final instrumentation to complete the track.
Hope that tracking out feature comes soon!
No doubt brotha, it’s a smooth workflow for sure.
HELL YEAH!!!!!
No doubt brotha!
What’s up SaintJoe. I just got the full version of Presonus Studio One v2 pro and trying to midi sequence Maschine inside of itas you do in the video, but you dont show how you got those tracks in Studio one? The Maschine tracks are already in you Studio one when you start so I’m kinda lost to how to even get my Maschine to show in the Studio one browser? Can you please help me with this… Thanks in advance.
The first track shows up when you drag maschine into the sequencer, the other two tracks I made by going to the “Track” menu at the top and adding new tracks, choosing instrument as the type. They are basically midi tracks. To see your plugins, you need to go into studio one preferences and point it to wherever you have your plugins installed.
Your are a God at this ha ha Thank you for such a quick response. I’ve done what you said and it’s working lovely now. I can see Maschine and all of Komplete 8. Good lookin out!
Awesome, have fun!
OHHHH man…. this is dope. That faderport is almost like hitting the controls on Maschine. Yo..I MUST try this way out. May go cop faderport …. you think I should bro. I am loving S1 v2
No doubt, it’s cool. Maschine inside a DAW is nice as long as the DAW handles it properly. In my testing there are some that are better than others. Studio One, Ableton, Cubase, and even Pro Tools handle sequencing Maschine really well. FL Studio isn’t bad. Reaper works too.
Hey Joe I see how you routed your drums but you got your kicks and snares in one track how would you mix them if that’s the case?
Most of the time I mix my drums as a group, if I want to separate them I can use maschine outputs to send them to different tracks to apply different fx on them. Or I can control the mix of them from within Maschine as well and add fx directly on the pads in maschine.
good biz
@Mal Studio One also has a wicked feature that splits all pitches to separate channels, so once your drums are in, you can separate them out and process them individually…
@SJ for some reason on my setup my keyboard stops inputting notes when it’s in Studio One as a plug in… Any advice on how to fix this? I’m tearing my dreads out trying to figure it out!
Stops inputting notes into Maschine? Make sure you got maschine track set to receive from everything and that the keyboard is setup in S1
Let me clarify: I press the keys on my Novation Sl 25, but the pad that should respond from Mascjine, stays quiet. I have Trillian in the project as a plug in in Studio One, and the keyboard works fine with that, but as soon as I switch to the Maschine plug in it stops working… I think Maschine is set to receive from everything, where do I check that?
That should def work fam, make sure you don’t have the pad set to respond to a specific midi channel or something like that. Or if you got sounds to midi notes enabled, you probably have to change octaves to get to the sounds.
Thanks for the quicknes by the way! 🙂
no problem fam
I just tried it in a new project… Loaded Maschine as plug in in Studio One. Put Trillian on pad 1 group1. Load a Trillian patch. Plays fine in Trillian which is in Studio One in both keyboard mode and on keyboard. Set the midi batch setings as per the vid. Trillian no longer plays through keyboard, but does play in keyboard mode…
when using an instrument, you don’t want to do midi batch settings. You just want to right click on the individual pad, and give it a midi channel by going into the “sound midi settings”
I have done it both ways just to see if anything like that might be the cause. Still having the same problem when it switches over to trying to play the pad with a keyboard from within Studio One. I’ll call NI in the morning… Something’s really wrong here… Thanks for the help bro, and great vid by the way!
I’ve never had that issue, I’ll double check it right now
excelent really like Studio One V2 and Maschine together…thanks!!
Good news glad to help!
hey Joe, I am very new to Studio One V2. I have a slight problem that I cannot figure out. I want to load multiple instances of Maschine in Studio one, everything goes peachy for the first instance but when I fire up a second instance, i can only trigger sounds from the second instance, when I go back to my first instance, my controller will only trigger the second, I am clicking on the tabs in the instrument pane to switch back and forth to try and toggle between them which works visually but as far as sound goes,… Read more »
No problem bro, on your controller press shift+step, which goes into “instances” and you can choose which “instance” to control 🙂
Sounds like a quick video is needed for this one too, nice question!
