Hey what’s good fam! Got another small workflow tip for those using Maschine in Ableton Live
Lately I’ve been using them together a lot with my hardware gear, recording my hardware directly into Live and letting Maschine handle drums, chops if needed.
So I wanted to show a way of working with Maschine that bypasses all the midi setup, and removes the need for freezing or rendering your midi tracks from Maschine.
Of course this isn’t going to be ideal for everyone, but I love working this way

I THINK I LIKE THIS WAY BEST!!
cool man, it’s really quick
Wow Joe This is what Ive been trying to do, Individualizing sounds the easy way. Man it was right in my face. Ive been using drumRack and putting effects on each sample which is cool but I really like this. Once again you come through. Joe for president!!!! LOL
Hahahaha, cool man, yeah, it’s a really fast workflow and allows you to still be creative. Something about working with audio I just dig it.
Nice one brotha! Got ableton over here collecting dust lol… gonna have to re-think that man……more options…Excellent!!!
Oh me and Ableton get along nice son LOL…hahahaha
That’s cool! If your good with the click and don’t have to worry about midi quantizing and all this is a quick method for sure! Nice.
yeah I like to record with no quantize anyway so it works good for me 🙂
This seems like a super fluid setup. NI should be taking notes for Maschine 2.0.
I haven’t used Traktor at all, but I wonder if you could do something similar with that? I know that a lot of peeps that perform their electronic stuff live use Ableton for everything and I’d think that NI might want to start thinking about further integrating this type of performance. Maybe they already are?
Anyway, thanks for showin us the way!
yeah, I want something like this in maschine so we can quicker capture audio ideas in a fluid manner, as for traktor, checkout the f1, they are going after the live performance/ableton folks
Nice job!!now the question, the small touch screen you use next to maschine is the touchable?
Thanks man, glad you dig ig! It’s the iPad running TouchOsc with the Live Control template.
Is there a way to map the Tempo ( from ableton ) to the tempo knob from maschine ?
If you use the maschine controller in controller mode you can open up the controller editor and try to map it that way, but not while Maschine is in regular maschine mode.
yeah it worked thanks !
cool 🙂
I know how to route different pads from Maschine to Ableton, but can you also route Maschine’s individual Groups into different channels in Ableton?
Yeah you do it the same way as you do sounds, just click on the group tab instead of the sound tab and go to the output settings to send a whole group out into Ableton.
i think my set up is wrong or something i cant seem to make this work can you e-mail or message me the detail on the ableton set set or mymaye i have maschine set up wrong – i have maschine as a vst on track 3 and set up some audio tracks just like you have but its not recording.
Zack
Do you have the audio tracks set to record the audio outputs from the Maschine track?
never mind Saint i got it working thanks for showing this to me .
Cool man, it’s a nice workflow I think
