In this tutorial Knock shows how to setup the MK2 controller so that you have full control over your transports in Logic as well as being able to record your MIDI notes for triggering Maschine 2 as a plugin inside of Logic.
This one doesn’t use any Mackie control settings and should be a lot smoother for the Logic users.

Now we’re talking I’m going to try this tonight if I can!
Great Tut Knock, I have one question though: I’d really like to start using this for my workflow in Logic: Record/organise my Midi arrangement in Logic as you’ve shown here, triggering Maschine plugin as a sound module. What concerns me though is how can I further process the Maschine audio signals being generated individually/separately in my Logic arrangement? For example: I may want to track separately the 64 sounds in your example here with the 4 groups of 16 sounds, so that in Logic I have 64 tracks to process and apply logic effects to them etc individually as I… Read more »
You only have 16 stereo outputs from the Maschine plugin, you could treat them as mono by using panning and such, but if you want to process 64 sounds separately you either would drag the audio into Logic or use multiple instances of Maschine, where each one uses one group instead of using one instance with multiple groups.
Thanks Saint Joe
No problem
This was my next thought as well, there is a separate tutorial where it shows tracking out stuff as individual audio however I was thinking you’d have a hell of a lot of tracks with both midi and audio. I’m not a big fan of processing in maschine but I suppose you could, I’d prefer using Logic for that though.
Ok I’ve been trying this all day and night with the MKI, I think I’m convinced that for some reason the way the midi is received through Logic it’s not recognized using the new template or anything for that matter. I did discover though that your also using the IAC driver which I wasn’t so I thought that would fixed things if I turned that on no luck there either. What I did notice is that my keyboard seemed to recognize it with no problem which I thought was odd. I definitely think that with the more updated controllers none… Read more »
The Logic part of the template gives an error when opening. It looks pretty small 204 bytes. Thanks in advance.
What type of error do you get?
Hey Saintjoe
Will this work with Logic 9?
Thanks
Yes this should work with Logic 9 also.
after i load the 4 drum sets into the groups, i go up to window at the top and it is completely different. Every time i watch a video for help, nothing helps because there are so many different versions of maschine and logic. I always get close but there is always some change that stops me. What can i do to fix this? The video says its just Logic 9 but in the video it is using logic proX.
Knock mentions Logic Pro X in the beginning of it, so it should look the same if you’re using Maschine 2 and Logic Pro X. I don’t have Logic but I’m sure Knock can answer any specific questions you’re having if you’re getting stuck somewhere.
OK. So now i have Logic pro X. I get the maschine window to pop up and then you go to Window at the top and go down to midi Environment. My drop down menu doesnt have Open MIDI Transform or Open MIDI Environment as an option. Those 2 arent there. Is there a step im missing?
Go to “Logic Pro X” in the top menu
click “preferences”
click “Midi”
When the “Preferences” box pops up look for “Advanced” Tab
Click that
Make sure that “Midi” is checked under additional options.
Once you do that you will see Open Midi Environment under “Windows”

I’m trying to do what markus weldon asked about. I’m using Maschine 2.1, Logic Pro 9, and an MK1. I can create the multi-timbral instrument track in Logic, use Maschine as a plugin, and successfully have the individual sounds of a kit, for example, play through that instrument track in Logic. However, the problem arises when my MK1 is in MIDI mode rather than Control mode. When I switch from Control to MIDI mode, my customized Logic transport controls work, but the pads no longer recognize me hitting them at all. It’s the exact opposite in Control mode; the pads… Read more »
When in midi mode, press group E, depending on which template you’re using, that’s where the notes will be, when in midi mode each group is a different set of notes/octaves.
As for the audio routing, you can route each pad from the output tab to different channels in Logic like this
https://maschinetutorials.com/maschine-2-0-routing-multiple-audio-channels-into-logic-pro-x/
Also, you can use multiple groups in a single instance if you want, as long as you give each group it’s own channel, the maschine plugin has 16 midi channels it can respond to.
Maaaaan you are truly a saint. Thanks for relieving my headache, really appreciate the help.
No problem fam!
One more issue… I want to do separate instances of Maschine just to have multiple instrument tracks in logic. If I open one instrument track, assign it to MIDI channel 1, and assign group A to channel 1, it works perfectly fine. If I open a second instrument track, assign it to MIDI channel 2, open a new Maschine instance and assign group A to channel 2, my actual controller gets locked on the second instrument track. I have no idea how, but even if I go back and select the first instrument track in Logic which is assigned to… Read more »
You have to press shift+step to change between the instances. Again, you have multiple midi channels and audio channels you can use so you don’t have to use multiple instances to keep things separate if you don’t want to. But again, shift+step will let you choose the instance you want to focus on.
Nice. Thanks again saintjoe.
Hi Guys I was wondering if you could help? I have finally got round to trying this out and have followed the video several times but i’m still not getting ti to work. I’m using Logic 9 and Maschine Mk1 with Maschine 2.1 software. I have followed everything up to creating the multi instrument in the environment (16 channels) and setting the groups input on maschine to match those channels. (for testing i just set up 3 separate drum groups A, B, C to midi channel 1, 2, 3) The problem is i can see the midi notes and record… Read more »
All sorted, I didn’t have group C selected whilst in midi mode!!
Oh man this was so good.. The Maschine had been sitting AGES next to me because I couldn’t figure out how to use it with Logic. Finally.. Thanks!!!
You’re welcome fam !!
Thanks for the video. The template above does not download. Thanks!
Thanks for letting me know about the download, try it now it should be working.
Thanks for another great tutorial. This is just what I was looking for. I was messing about with the MK2 and Logic 9 and on the MK2 I have used the arrow buttons between the tempo and enter button to scroll through tracks which works fine. I wanted to use the solo and mute buttons on the MK2 on the selected track but it it doesn’t work. It seems to mute and solo a few tracks at a time. Is this something that works in Logic x or am I just missing something in Logic 9? I was also looking… Read more »
Knock thanx for your input. I have machine studio but I a was little too cheap to upgrade to logic x. I have been looking all around for instructions on how to record maschine studio into logic 9. I still cant find anything. But
Studied your vedio that teaches us to sequence maschine studio into logic x. Then I applied the same technique with logic 9 and actually worked. Your input as well as well as sainjoe is a great help. Thanx .
We also had an older Logic video, but glad you got it 🙂

Thanks Fam !!
@ 1:55 in the video i can’t seem to get the same M13 to show up inside the box any idea what i have setup wrong or i am doing wrong? I am following along but its not working for me. also when i click the +button to add external midi i don’t have the option to select just OFF under the output, I have
OFF all & 1-16
maschine controller MK2
all & 1-16
or Maschine Virtual output
all & 1-16
Jayrutjr very sorry for the delay. I don’t know why its not working for you. I just went through the steps again myself in my studio and it works. A couple of things though, at 1:40 when I named the maschine multi instrument…I hit enter after I did. Did you do this also? If you dont hit enter then it wont name it (even though it looks like it did) so that when you go to look for whatever you named it (doesn’t have to be M13) then it wont be visible. Dont worry about the “Off” option when you… Read more »
Thanks for all the great tutorials.
Are there any changes in this procedure for Logic 10.2 and Maschine 2.4 with Maschine Studio running the latest firmware? I had this working earlier this year but after Logic and Maschine updates I’m unable to get the pads to trigger notes in Logic with this setup. I also get audio latency when I enable record in Logic and try to record.
Appreciate the help. I’ll try this again with a fresh project and your controller template and see if the template helps.
indeed I will check this out tonight to see if the problem is on my side also
Ok I checked it. I just redid what I did in this video with the Maschine studio hardware and it works. Not sure what is happening on your end. Did you get it to work? Maybe redo the procedure/setup using the M Studio and see what happens. IF you cant get it to work let me know.
I used Logic 10.2 and also Maschine 2.4
Thanks Knock – I started with a fresh project – not my usual template – and this worked as advertised.
Ok great 🙂
cannot get external tracks to output midi …(track s don’t light up or display signal) like master (software inst)machine channel./. also when i open loaded project, no latency from pads, as soon as i hit record once (even though i still get no output from ch 1 into any of my external channels ), there is suddenly latency on all pads …argh
so i paid and watched had a question no reply what sup wit that/
Tape4 …that is on me. My apologies. I am going to check that today. Is ANYTHING at all from the video not working for you or just what you mentioned. Also are you using the MK2 ?
Again I am sorry for the delay.
Knock
still waiting to hear back from you bro. I sent an email to your email address also.
Thanks
I got your email reply… we will have this knocked out !:-)
Hey there, I want to do something half way between this method and recording scene changes in Logic X. What I would like to do is record patterns that I’ve already built in Machine 2 (when using in stand alone) and then record the midi of the patterns into Logic X. I want to flick between patterns on the fly, as Logic records the midi, to mix up my chops and patterns to create thrills and fills. I just find sequencing in Logic as a linear song easier to get my head round – force of many years habits! I… Read more »
Whats up Gandy !! Did you mean like this https://maschinetutorials.com/maschine-2-recording-scene-changes-in-logic-x-via-midi/
Let me know if this is what you meant
How do again Knock, I was aware of the scene changes method but thanks for the advice. 🙂 I think drag and drop midi is the way forward… I think my issue is more about workflow rather than anything else! I’ve got about 3 years worth of parts, patterns and scenes all in maschine; I just need to make songs now! I think in a linear sequence cos I’m used to tracking bands in Logic so I think this is how I need to put songs together from this point. Use Logic to drag and drop midi into logic and… Read more »
does this work for the mikro mk2
Yeah you should be able to enable it with all of the controllers.
