Hey what’s good MT Fam!
Here’s a quick video on the Maschine 2.3 update feature that allows you to capture your scene changes as MIDI directly into your DAW.
In this video I’m using Ableton Live, but this will work with any DAW that allows you to route MIDI from the plugin track to another MIDI track.
This is a great feature for capturing your performance and still having the option to go back and edit it before you decide to commit to audio.

I dont get the difference 100% to how it was before, mut maybe its because I use Logic.
I have done this before in 2.0 and found this a good way to integrate Maschine into a DAW.
However, I always played those notes from a normal Keyboard, not from Maschine.
Is the only difference now that when you switch Scenes from the Maschine Controller they not only chnage Scenes but send a note too? And does this work with AU AND VST?
Yeah, the difference is that you don’t have to use a keyboard or put Maschine in “midi mode” you can just perform the scenes as normal in Maschine and it will capture the MIDI data. It used to be there before but they took it out. This will not change how you work in Logic though as AU plugins do not send MIDi output.
Curiously, will it work in Logic X or does it still need to be in MIDI mode? (Per Knock’s video on setting up Logic and Maschine for scene performance.)
Requires MIDI mode, AU plugins do not send MIDI output so anything that requires MIDI from the VST like this will not work.
Boo! That bites. And confirmed when chatting with NI on the phone not long ago. Thanks!
Yeah, that’s just a limitation of AU in general, nothing NI or anyone else can do about it, Apple will have to change the actual format.
Could you get this work also in Bitwig?
Yeah, Bitwig allows internal routing so it should work in there pretty much the same way.
I thought so, too. However I can’t get it to work (works in Ableton for me)… Would you maybe try it if you have time? Maybe I have overseen something…
I’ll take a look
I’ve been messing with this, haven’t been able to figure out a way to get it to recognize the midi from the scene pads, seems there is something different in how they handle MIDI routing. Will keep exploring.
Ok so I’m not trying to record the scene changes but this is the most relevant thread I could find on here to my question. I understand how to make the clips in Ableton and have them send the midi note or program change (I’m using notes atm) to trigger my scenes in maschine. I made all the clips just one bar long because that’s what I saw in the native instruments video tutorial. My issue is that when scenes are longer than one bar, it’s retriggering it EVERY TIME the clip loops back around. So it only ever plays… Read more »
It’s been a while since I tried using Maschine in this way, (not a fan) but I recall having to make the patterns/clips match the length of the scenes being triggered for it to line up, and it still wasn’t perfect all the time.
Alright that’s what I was afraid of. Thanks for the quick reply regardless.
Found a way around it in the mean time… I just made the clips ridiculously long so it will only play the note the one time at the beginning. The Maschine scene just keeps looping but the clip won’t technically reach its end for several minutes so it only retriggers when I hit the button again or hit the button for a new scene.
Yeah, that works, I’ve definitely done stuff like that before. Have fun!
