Yo what’s good fam!
Finally Maschine 2.1 has been released and they brought back the MIDI batch setting.
This makes it super quick to drag and drop MIDI into your daw without having to go through all the transpose and other settings we had to do in 2.0
In this video I quickly show how to drag and drop MIDI into Ableton with the MIDI batch setting.

thank the stars, finally a simple way to integrate them.
Glad they fixed this
Hi Joe,
Thanks for the videos on this.
One question. How come I don’t have ‘MIDI TO’ on my Ableton MIDI channel? All I have is ‘MIDI FROM’ and ‘AUDIO TO’
Is it to do with my MIDI settings in Ableton preferences?
Thanks,
Steve
You shouldn’t have an “audio to” on your midi channel, are you using an external instrument? If so, the midi to will be down at the bottom in the external instrument settings.
Strangely it does have ‘Audio To’ on the MIDI channel and I can’t work out why.
I’m not using an external instrument, just trying to follow the steps as in your video.
Can you email me a screenshot of what you have setup?

Hi Joe,
I think I maybe have figured out what’s happening.
I had saved a default MIDI track which contains a console-emulation plugin and the track opens with an AUDIO TO section. When I removed the plugin it reverted to MIDI TO and the fader disappeared.
Ahh ok 🙂
so if i have this right, instead of switching screens all the time, now i can just write my midi data in to anything i want to add on in my midi track in ableton live?
Uhm…If I understand your question correctly…yes…but…I’m not sure I get what you’re saying exactly 🙂
i mean i’m guessing there’s much more but just as my head is spinning working on this project, that’s one of the things i’m noticing right? 🙂 lol thanks in advance!
ok so even i confused myself, but what i was thinking is that instead of having to go back and write midi in maschine all the time, now i can just simply write in ableton and create on the fly as i go right? but i need to have maschine in a blank scene, per say, if i i’m creating a new portion of a midi clip in ableton right so they don’t overlap etc?
thanks!
Oh yes, correct 🙂
You would basically be using Maschine as a sound module/plugin triggering it’s sounds from within Ableton.
thanks boss!!
good video, hey having some difficulty with the integration. I have made a midi track for each of my sections of my music ie bass, kick, snare, percs. Whenever those midi parts are playing and I try to record something on another midi track, such as piano, it records the notes in that are playing from the other parts in maschine, if this makes any sense. Any way around this?
You’re not doing anything wrong, this is how it currently works unfortunately. I’ve mentioned this to NI as well. Basically unless you do all your work in Maschine before dragging it’s really not possible to work back and forth between dragging and recording in Maschine then dragging new parts. There’s still some things I feel need to be ironed out for a good workflow within the DAW imo.
phew good think i’m not alone in that. It has saddened me because it’s a really awesome piece of gear but I actually tried to create a whole song in Maschine and it is so limiting. For example, if I have an instrument on a track and I want one pattern to have a rising filter cutoff and then the next pattern to have the filter fully open, I have to create two different instruments. If I copy one pattern to another and alter the automation of the filter cutoff for example, it changes the first patter, so I actually… Read more »
You can do what you want with the filters, each pattern has it’s own automation so you’d have to do it on a per pattern basis. You can also set the automation so the filter opens all the way up at the beginning of the next pattern or even the end of the first one.
I mainly use Maschine standalone at this point but there are many things I would love to have that would make it even better for me for sure.
well hopefully i learn some things on your creativelive session in june, thanks for the help
Look around the site man plenty here! Much of what I do live will be stuff I’ve done here over there years 🙂
Hello St Joe; I just got cubase 7.5 but i’m having problems getting maschine 2.0 to load as a vst inside cubase. everytime i try to load it. It crashes cubase completely. I just want to drag some of my old maschine beats into cubase so I can mix the two technologies. can you help?
Thanks
Rush G
I don’t have Cubase 7.5 I only have Elements version 6, but the plugin should work with no issues. It crashes when you scan it or when you open it as a plugin? Did it work with your previous version?
Well this seems to be my best bet! Thx bro!
Glad to help man!
