Here’s a quick video going over all of the settings in the Maschine 2.0 preferences menu.
This is where you will setup all of your defaults and general configuration so that you can just focus on making music!
I go over everything from the default projects settings, to metronome configuration, default colors, and everything else in the menu.
If you have questions just ask, but hopefully you have a good understanding of this menu as it sets the foundation for your work going forward.
Thanks for the tutorial. Another thing I miss from preferences is a choice for default folder to save your work on Maschine such as projects. I am still experimenting to see how that works on 2.0.
Your standard user directory is set in the library tab
Got it! Thanks Saint Joe! Got it all straight! Big ups!!!
Whats good my brother i just updated to MASCHINE 2.1 FROM 1,8 on my mac. don’t really see many
videos on your site using a mac . I do have a pc put mac works best for me any way i’ve been trying to get my plugins from NI/ KOMPLETE 9 ULTIMATE to load from my external hard drive need help i just about did every thing .
Knock uses a mac so we def have videos on that platform but setting up plugins is the same process on both, which part are you stuck on? Did you already add your plugin location to the preferences in 2.1 on the plugin tab? It would be the same location you used in 1.8. Once you do that, rescan and make sure you put a check by the plugins you want to use.
I”m loving your consistency with the new products. Thanks from everyone. My question is, where do we go to quantize or choose what quantize value we want ?
You cans till use shift+quantize (pads 5 and 6 on the original controllers), to turn on input quantize press shift+grid to get to that menu
I have finally upgraded to the new software…But for some odd reason I cant get maschine to recognize
the Philharmonik vst. I Place the folder with the instruments under the location tab but I still cant get it
to recognize it. Unlike version 1.8 when I installed the Philharmonik it automatically appear in the drop down menu to select.
That vst is 32 bit so make sure you ate using machine in 32 bit mode. I’ve also heard of others having issues with some older IK plugins.
Ok, I will check it out., Thanks, Saintjoe
No problem
ok , now it shows up…Man I guess I have to run maschine in 32 bit,..Is there a major difference
or does it matter if I’m running 64 or 32 bit?
You can’t access all of your ram in 32 bit vs 64 bit.
Dang it…4gigs of ram on my mac book
Well with 4gb it won’t matter much, as the OS uses up about 1 to 2gb anyway.
Did you make that plugin folder C:\Plugins\64bit\ and if so I take it you made one for 32 bit as well… I love the organization of these, when you thirsty you over look thing, I was thirsty about a month ago when I first got ms-s lol. I left a post in the forum asking for a breakdown of how you organize your stuff and this here is what I was talking about… I have like 6 folders in mine, just messy.
Yeah I made that folder on my own, I like to organize stuff on my HD lol. I used to have a 32 bit one, I don’t anymore as I don’t use any 32 bit plugins, but originally I did have a 32 bit folder as well 🙂
Watched and Learned.
Looks like you’re getting up to speed 😉
Yesssir! 😉
Saintjoe my maschine2 is playing a pattern of loops I did not program nor can I see them. How do stop this?
You can’t see them? What do you have loaded in Maschine?
Nothing and when I load something the ghost pattern plays with it. I have shut down everything and restarted. I hate to lose work but is there a way to go back to factory settings?
You can load kits with or without patterns, but you’re saying you haven’t loaded any kits and you have patterns playing? Are there no groups at all in your project?
You can reset the library to default by deleting the Komplete.db3 file, but I don’t know that it would change what’s happening, you’d find it here on windows:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Native Instruments\Maschine 2
If you’re on Mac it would be in:
Mac HD\Users\Username\Library\Application Support\Native Instrument \Maschine 2
Yes I have groups but Im trying to start a new project. Ive deleted Komplete fills and its still playing back a pattern
Make sure you have the kits set to load without the pattern. In the browser there’s an icon that looks like 16 pads+Midi data, make sure that’s not on.
How do I turn it off? Something is definitely running in the background
There’s an icon at the bottom of the browser, looks like 16 pads+midi pattern, or on the controller make sure +pat isn’t highlighted when loading your kits.
let’s say you get a brand new cpu how would you transfer all of samples over to the new computer???
I would just copy them to a usb drive and move them to the new one, or do it using dropbox.
I didn’t word this right, I mean full install of natives instruments and third party video…. If I was to upload a video of why I’m trying to get to say where would I post it? I truly don’t believe I can say it without having a display in front of me….
You would install machine on the new computer, than copy your third party samples over and set them up in machine preferences if you want them in the browser.
third party samples not video lol
Saint Joe I know for some of these plugins we get 4 slots inside the manager tab, for example absynth 5 you have vst, fx vst, fx surround vst and stereo vst and I notice you only have two of them check, can you explain why? 1-27-15)
Because I never use the surround or multi channel versions of the plugins and I don’t like a bunch of stuff in my list lol.
I hear ya man… I don’t like messy files it has given me this nasty headaches and I’m trying to stop that nonsense… I notice I have files without any drive label in front of them. Lets say for example: …Stimulus Kit-Month 01… Do you know what can make this happen?
I don’t know that your individual files should even have a drive label in front of them, none of my files do. Unless I’m missing what you’re asking.
in this very video at the 1:29 time frame you start to show the factory library and the files to the left in the sub-folder or title of the files is called (Location) Location then has all the files names underneath it, but it also starts every file off like N:Abbey Road 50 Drummer Library and the second is C:\…Native Instruments\Absynth 5. Each one of those folders have the hard drive letter label in front of the first one is more than likely a external/sample drive because it’s label N and the second is the System drive because it’s Label… Read more »
Ahh ok, you mean the folder path, though you meant an actual file. Yeah, those are all of my internal drives, I don’t keep anything on externals. Maybe the path you’re looking for was external or maybe you need to extend/open it up to see where it’s looking,
Yeah I got contact with my daw tech, he explains, but thanks again Joe…
No doubt fam
After adding plugin locations and re-scanning both within the locations and manager tab, none of the plugins I added from the folder are showing up in the channel mixers where the external plugins should be like in your video. Can you help me with this please?
Thanks
Make sure they match the version you’re using, 64 bit must use 64 bit plugins, and 32 bit must use 32 bit plugins.
