What good is a music creation tool such as Maschine 2 without audio and midi functionality?
This quick tutorial shows you each tab in the Audio and MIDI menu as well as what you need to setup to make sure you get sound, MIDI input, and MIDI output.
If you have any questions about the basic setup of Maschine 2 just ask, we’re here to help!
Yo, how do I pull up a third party vst like rob Papen Blue in 2.0
Did you already add it in your preferences? If so you go to the plugin section to pull it up, there will be a video on it also. You can also do it directly from the mixer.
Hey Joe! 😉
Have you tried Maschine 2.0 as a VST instrument in Cubase? I was not able to because of a Midi feedback loop!
Worked fine with 1.8…
I searched around and could not find any help regarding it…
Unfortunately they changed the way it works, I’ve had the same issue in Ableton and in S1, but I’ve found if you don’t “monitor” the track you’re recording to then it usually works. I’m assuming you’re trying to record midi from the pads as you hit them?
Yep. I’ve tried everything:
1)Activate Midi in group.
2) Change to Midi mode.
3) What is working, (causing the feedback loop is ) if I change each output of all pad to “host”
Then BAM! feedback loop.
In regards to the Audio set up. Whats the difference when running a soundcard through the WASAPI driver rather than ASIO driver?
asio usually has much better performance in terms of latency

Nice man, welcome to 2.0
Thanks! 😉
Hey Joe,
I myself have the Komplete Audio 6 Interface and on the Audio Midi Settings “Routing” tab with the input or output selected, it doesn’t show me the Komplete Audio 6 setting? For example, when I go to my input tab, It only shows me on the right hand side of the Audio settings window “input 1L and input 2 R” and when I go to my output tab, it says “Main Output L, and Main Output R” but yet everything works fine. Is there a right way around what I did wrong?
Thanxs
That’s right, you’ll only see the full name in the midi settings.
Hey saintjoe Thanks for the video… In Audio and MIDI settings in the MIDI section whats the difference between Maschine Controller MK2 (input and output) , Maschine MK2 virtual (Inputs and Outputs) and the Maschine 2 virtual (inputs and outputs) . Im trying to set my mk2 up on my iMac using apples midi application. The MK2 shows that its recognized but when I test the connection and hit a pad the port on my MK2 won’t light up and make a sound like my other midi controllers I have connected. Iv tried “testing the setup” with my mk2 in… Read more »
If your driver is installed properly, you should receive input from the controller directly into the Maschine software without any of the midi settings, as it speaks directly to it. The inputs/outputs are for if you have hardware devices connected to the controller, or if you want to use virtual MIDI between apps. If you wanted to use it as a MIDI device in another app I’m pretty sure you would configure that directly in the application itself and choose the Maschine MK2 input.
Ok yeah that makes sense, thanks for clearing that up with the virtual Ins and Outs… My MK2 connects perfect with the Maschine 2 software, but on my computer (apple), when I’m in apples midi set up application, Im not seeing a name or a working port when I test my set up. Lol bare with me I know Im not explaining this very well. In apples midi set up when I test for example, my akai mpk 249, the “in” port lights up blue and makes a sound. Also when I click on the mpk249 it says port A.… Read more »
I’m not sure where you’re looking or how you’re testing it, but it should show up as Maschine MK2 in your midi settings. Depending on your daw you should see Maschine MK2 input, and Maschine MK2 output. It may even show up as USB input. I’m on a PC, but I have one hooked up to my mac mini and it just shows up as Maschine MK2 in the MIDI devices page. In whatever software I open I can set it up as a MIDI input device.
I had a quick silly question….if I do not have a interface, is there still a way to record samples into machine?
You’ll have to record into the built in interface of your computer, the 1/8″ input most likely. But I’d suggest an interface for sure if you can, doesn’t have to be anything extravagant.
Hello! The tutorials are fantastic. I have a question, can the sounds of the six izotope breakweaker tracks be routed to a group of maschine so that they play one on each track of the group? Thank you
