Hey what’s good family
Here’s a video for those using Logic and you want to know how to record your audio from Maschine in realtime to capture your performance onto separate tracks instead of drag and drop or whatever.
We had a question about this on the other tracking out videos so this is for the Logic users.
This video covers how to setup the plugin outputs properly as well as how to get the audio recorded onto audio tracks.

Awesome bro! Thank you for this! I was messin’ around with Presonus Studio when I couldn’t figure the routing part out here, still a dope Daw but prefer my work in Logic. Peace…
Yooo why you depriving the people of the killer vocals tho??
LOL…you are FUNNY !!!
Yo waddup Knock I’m in Charlotte myself glad to see this tutorial. I sent you an email about my issues with the template for the transport control to see if I could use whatever one your using. I tried setting it up with the mackie settings first but some of the pads aren’t working right. I guess in meantime I could use this approach let me know what your suggestions are peace!!!
Hey can’t you drag drop files to eliminate this process?
You can, but some like to record their performance/audio in realtime, in that situation drag and drop will not help.
Hi,
Im not getting record enabling on my tracks?
Thanks
Sorry,
I didn’t have the right sound card selected, had my complete audio 6 selected instead of core audio.
NICE TUT!!!
Knock: Stupid Question. Why create and aux send for each channel. Could you go to the mixer and use the command to create each of those channels in the arrange window? I’m not grasping the function of the duplicate aux sends.
this is not working for me, i get to the last stage of bussing the audio tracks & it pops up with no record buttons. What do you think im doing wrong :/
is it possible to take a screen shot of where it has no REC button? Just to double check… it was definitely AUDIO tracks you loaded correct?
Did you figured out why this happened? I’m having the same issue…
THIS IS GREAT!!! Finally I see how to do it. But, why did you skip ext. 1 when you were assigning the outputs?
Usually the first output is taken up by the plugin track, so it would be the same as setting it to go out the master plugin output.
I like to do a lot of my work on maschine on the fly. adding snare rolls while recording/effects/mutes/solos/etc. Will I still be able to do this with this process in logic x? I usually use maschine standalone, make a decent mix in maschine, and record the internal master output.
Yeah that’s one of the benefits of tracking out this way, you can capture your performance into Logic while still have separate audio tracks.
This is a great video, however when i do it why can’t i use the play button on maschine? is that just the way it is? i’m presuming i can still use of the other maschine buttons? like to load up tracks etc etc, i’m trying to decide between drag and drop and this method.
Many thanks for the help.
Yeah, when using as a plugin, Maschine is slave to the daw, so it’s play button/transport no longer works the same as standalone.
Thanks man, so everything else works the same? basically what i’m looking for is to work most of the song in maschine without really thinking about logic, then dipping into logic when i want and seeing the audio files already there, so that would do that right? i take it i only need to this once in logic then save it as a template so that then it will be automatic when i start a new song? so basically could i set it up so i already had 8 groups setup already to go and i could work with maschine… Read more »
Yes indeed, I highly suggest saving a template/projects, I have one for every daw I use so whenever I open it Maschine is setup how I want.
oh thats great, one last thing (hopefully) how do you find this works with the flow of things, what i mean is, if you start making a lot of changes in machine, scenes, different takes etc then when you switch over to logic is it not a bit of a mess, or does logic automatically record over the what you have already done, so say i record a pattern, put it in machine, logic has record it right? then say i take another pattern would i then need to re record so that logic was updated, i hope i’m clear… Read more »
I don’t use Logic, but in general, this right here would be the last step once you have everything laid out how you want, or if you want to go through and perform it in realtime.
Ahhh got you, you’re the man. Cheers.
Glad to help man!
I finally gotten around to trying this today, and it’s awesome! It took some trial and error, and I had to look closely at some of the settings that I could have possibly missed, but all-in-all it worked out nicely. Potentially useful, especially if I want to chop or otherwise alter the audio later. Many thanks!
Yes indeed
Thanks for the video! I’m trying this with logic pro 9 and everything works until I get to the audio track stage. I’ve routed it the same way as in the video but my inst. track and my audio tracks aren’t picking anything up so when i hit record, nothing happens. Do you have any ideas on how to fix this?
My audio tracks aren’t showing the record enable option even though I checked the box, do you guys think that could be the problem?
I am not sure why its not showing up. Unfortunately I don’t have Logic 9 on my mac anymore. There should be no reason why the Rec enable option doesn’t show up. Can you take a screen shot of when you get to the place where its not showing up?
Hey Ian, I’m not a Logic guy but maybe this other video will help?

Awesome, got it to work. Thanks guys!
Cool! Glad to help.
Have you figured this out man? I have the same problem
Very nice video. The way you explained it made the process look easier than I have previously seen.
Thanks bro !
Ahh i posted a question in the wrong place a couple of days ago, is there a way to do this but instead of having the audio coming from maschine onto seperate tracks i would like all the sounds from maschine to go onto one track in logic, so if i hit record in logic i can them play whatever in maschine and then that is recorded on one track in logic, is this possible? thanks, this site is really good.
So basically you are saying you want to jam on maschine pads live along with your other tracks but have maschine just be recorded as audio on one track?
yes thats what i’m after, so i can play other instruments and a friend can play maschine and we can record the session. thank you,
Video on the way. 🙂
🙂 please let me know when done, thank you man,
Video is live https://maschinetutorials.com/jamming-on-maschine-in-logic-pro/
Has anyone figured out why the Record Enable button is greyed out? and the Input monitoring button too. It’s almost like it’d not receiving input from the channel I directed to it…having some issues here :-/
I clicked on enable record but the record bottome doesn’t appear
great video.
now how do i do this if i have groups that are routed through fx without loosing them?
I found this quite helpful is there something similar but to record midi rather than audio. With midi I could send a logic file to someone and they can make some edits without having mashine right?
Midi is a bit more involved. This one may help though https://maschinetutorials.com/setup-maschine-logic-x-quick-easy/
You can also drag midi out of maschine into logic.
Do you have to know the song tempo in advance? If so what happens controller wise if you have 1 standalone maschine running and 1 plug in in logic.?Asking because It would suck to have to check tempo in maschine and then quit it and open it in logic just to get the tempo. Thanks
You could add the tempo to the name of the project to make it easier when opening inside of a daw. Otherwise Maschine is just going to sync to whatever tempo the daw is running at.
