We’ve been getting a lot of questions from the Reason users on any updates to how we can use Reason with Maschine 2.0
Luckily there have been some improvements with the MIDI and Audio routing in Maschine 2 so that it’s much easier to use multiple channels of Reason in Maschine.
In this video I show how to setup Rewire to use multiple channels of Reason inside of Maschine so that you have the MIDI and Audio on the same channel which allows you to mix using Maschine mixer channels.
I also show how to quickly get that audio directly into Maschine as a sample for further manipulation or to free up your rewire channels for more sounds.

Dope.!
LOL no doubt fam
Wow!! absolutely incredible! I have reason 5 with a lot of synth refills and now i can use them in maschine thank you for this vid!!..while im at it thanks for all your vids!!
Yeah it works with Reason 5 which is what I have, works fine, glad to help!
I have mac os mavericks and maschine 1.8 and when i try to use this rewire vst it will load reason but for some reason reason 7 is not in rewire slave mode making this rewire vst impossible for i to use. I tried to use it in maschine 2.0 but maschine wont load the plugin. Please help?
Reason 7 is 64 bit by default, you need to make it use the 32 bit version, do a “get info” on the app icon and check the box that says open in 32 bit mode.
Yo good look saintjoe. I changed machine 2.0 and reason 7 to 32 bit mode and everything is working. I appreciate you getting back at the comment, thanks
No doubt fam!
I thought reason 7 has rewire in its software?
Also is there a way to record maschine drum beats into reason 7 sequencer?
Kinda the reverse of what your showing here.
Couldn’t you just play the instraments from reason straight into maschine as a audio track? How do you do that?
And again could you bring drum bets into the reason sequencer as a audio track?
I like using reason and maschine together.
Thanks

Maschine is not a rewire host, that’s why you need the rewire vst to use reason in Maschine. And Maschine isn’t a rewire slave so it will not stream audio into Reason. Now if you have an audio interface that can route between apps then you may be able to route between the two but all audio interfaces do not support that. Quickest way to get drums into Reason is drag and drop audio from Maschine into Reason.
I like sequencing in Reason SJ, does the drag and drop include the fx chain one might have set up in maschine?
It should drag and drop with your fx if they are directly on the group or pad
Thanks. Would test that out.
How did it work out for ya?
I have not done any testing on that yet. Still testing different scenarios in rewire mode. This way I can have Studio one,Reason and Maschine all working together. I downloaded the host midi file you uploaded and that works perfectly. I just finished creating my Rewire template.
Nice man!
Hey Tiko
I’m using the same three DAW’s
Studio one 2 , Reason & Ableton.
Any chance you can send me the
Rewire template you made?

Haha.. Linear audio for Mac 🙂 Just loaded audio tracks into Reason and they sync and I can even change the tempo and they stretch with no sound loss.. That is so beautifull for my workflow, that I will need to take a 10 minute break to go and buy my self a drink.. I will try to set up a template with audio tracks I believe Energy XT will give up to 8 that can flow into Maschine. How Ni comes up with the idea not to provide Rewire support, when Linear audio is just sitting there without a… Read more »
Im trying to recreate your setup. But I do not get the Reason options when I try to set the output for the pads. I get the usual drop down menu with None, Master, Group and then ext. 1 to 16… There must be something I need to turn on.. I have chosen the 3 instruments Thor, Malstrøm and NN19 in the Energy XT.. Perhaps in Reason ??
It´s like I only have 1 and 2 out from reason…
Now i can get 3 stereo outputs.. Rewire Xt gives one stereo and 6 mono inputs.. If I open the plugin Gui I can see all the Rewire meters running( 1 stereo and the 6 monos) It would be nice to have Maschine to see the outputs as one stereo and 6 monos so you can route the outputs to 7 pads/tracks in Maschines Mixer..
Is there a way to update/refresh the Audio input tab in Maschine so it sees all the inputs present in the Rewire Plugin.. ??
Sorry If I write to much.. But So far: Maschine will see 3 stereo pairs of rewire inputs, but the plugin has 1 stereo and 6 mono. What will happen is that Maschine will play one track left and the other right on each of the stereo pair. Is there a way to make Maschine see the Rewire outputs as 1 stereo an 6 mono. If not I guess the only way to make it possible to process the 6 mono tracks is to duplicate them to two pads, pan them hard right and left and the send them to… Read more »
Maschine doesn’t really have mono inputs when routing other than in the sampler so that’s probably the issue.
Have been running Maschine – Rewire VST – Reason for a couple of days now. It sort of works fine, but there is one major draw back. If I run Maschine at 128 samples buffer size I get glitches from the audio that runs in Reason. I have to raise the buffer size to at least 320 and then Maschine is not so nice to play. I run a submix of 14 audio tracks in Reason with a fair amount of plugins… Damm it! 🙂 Thought I had finally reached a point where I could have Maschine as a master… Read more »
Well, you have quite a few plugins/audio tracks going it seems, definitely would have to raise up the latency/buffer, I feel your pain. I was just telling Knock today after trying the Bitwig demo… I just want to be able to record my audio in Maschine, I’ve wanted this from day one. The Roland MV was such a powerful unit but it was slow to save/load, but the concept was perfect. That’s all I want from Maschine. Being able to do my loops/patterns then move into a song mode and being able to record audio with it also…perfect! LOL Oh,… Read more »
Ps. I run a Mac Mini 2.0 quad core with 8 gb ram and duet 2
I doubt you’d be able to run all that at 128
My rewire channels are coming up blank. So I cannot select a reason device like you did.
Reason 7 is 64 bit by default so you have to install the 32 bit version or run rewire vst through jbridge.
Hey Fam.
I got Jbridge but after I load it into machine 2 software and open the Rewire vat, there is no option for Reason 9 to open in Maschine. It see’s other vst’s Melodyne {the only one that will open} and a few others. I’m running both Reason & Maschine in 64 bit on a Mac 10.7.5. I really could use a detailed step by step of loading Jbridge this would get my work flow up a thousand percent!
Jbridge only sees 32 bit rewire devices, so it will not see Reason if it’s 64 bit.
Saintjoe
I’ve run bridge in 32 & 64 bit in every combo and no combination of any shows reason 7 as an option in bridge
so I know there must be a step in this process that I am missing. Im getting little sleep every night after work fighting to make this work fam. So for now Im gonna let this one go until someone comes up with a detailed explanation on how to load and configure jbridge, Looks like a great tool , but too little info for us dummies 😉 too bad……..
What I’m saying is, the rewire vst is 32 bit, it will only see 32 bit rewire devices, Reason 7 is 64 bit by default. So unless you run the installer to install the 32 bit version of Reason 7, it will not work. There is a way to install Reason 7 as a 32 bit app, you have to create a special shortcut from the installer disc or something like that. I can’t remember as I don’t use Reason really but I found the option I think on their forums/help section.
how do i run maschine in 32 bit mine says its at 64
and how much is rewire vst
There are two icons, one for 64 bit and one for 32 bit. If you are on Mac then you’d have to go to the Maschine app icon, right click to do a get info, and set it to start in 32 bit. I don’t remember how much the rewirevst is I haven’t used it in years. I think it was like 20 or 32 bucks.
It wont let me change it on mac
Unless they changed something in a newer OS, it should work. I’ve done it before when testing things out. There a checkbox that says “start in 32 bit mode”
Thanks I figured it out but everytine i close and reopen its back to 64 and i checked 32 also how long does it take to get rewire vt i just purchased it and said somethin bout 1-2 business days to send license key is that right? Thought it would be instant download
It should definitely stay 32 bit until you change it, maybe check your permissions or something.
As for the download I can’t say, been a while since I ordered it so I don’t remember. Maybe the process the downloads manually.
SJ Rewire vst now has a 64bit version just incase the fam didn’t know yet. Just email support at the energy team for your update.
No need to jbridge it anymore.
Cool, I’m not a Reason guy but that’s good to know, thanks!
Saint Joe. I amusing Reason 11 and would like to use the Chords Player in maschine with Maschine or Native sounds. After I load a sound or plug in I tried to use load the reason rack player under it to Effect it but it doesn’t?? Been looking for post but need some help.
Since Reason works as a plugin now, you should be able to load it as a VST in Maschine and use the sounds that way. I haven’t tried the latest version of Reason, are you saying that doesn’t work?
Hey Saint Joe.
Reason works I just need to know how to use the Reasons Chords to MIDI with other sounds or loaded plug ins in Maschine 2.0?? For examples after I load a plugin in Maschine like Kontakt, I want to be able to use the Reasons Chords ‘under’ (or in the next slot for Effects) it to play chords with Reasons Chords Plug In. It’s not recognizing or playing chord notes when I do that.
OK I read that wrong, my bad! What you’re trying to do will not work as Maschine doesn’t allow you to sent MIDI from a plugin to other sounds in Maschine. You would have to use some sort of MIDI routing software to send MIDI from Reason into Maschine.
