Hey what’s good fam!
Hope all is well, I’m still getting everything setup after redoing my lap for the past week or so, but wanted to knock out this video for a member.
The question was specifically how to route multiple channels from the West Africa library in Maschine 2.0
As you know, there are ensemble instruments that have multiple sounds playing at once.
This video shows how to route those to their own channel in the Maschine mixer.

word bro
Respect! thanks for the video …but when i click to each instrument channel i get only the option of st.1 and not the 8 channels you get,i tried to open kontakt like an 8 output but nonthing,is it something i have to do threw kontakt? And what…?
Keep’em coming appreciated!
Hmmm, I didn’t have to do anything special for them to show up they were already there. You may have to open the Kontakt mixer and add some channels. I will will check it out and see if I can reproduce your issue.
Thanks man, tried all the mixer option but nothing…would be grate if you could help to that!
We need one of these for BPM fam
Very very helpful, as always.
ok got it…! after opening kontakt 16 outputs from maschine you load the w.african multi and you have to add channels at the output mixer in kontakt(5 st.),after you route them (st1-1/2,st2-3/4 etc)you have to close the loaded ensemble and load it again! Now under each channel at the mixer view there are the 6st ch. option ready to route them with maschine as the video…
Yeah, that’s what I meant (in kontakt mixer) you can also do this with the stereo kontakt you just have to add the channels manually. But glad you got it!
Almost there…at your tutorial when you press record you record all multi in the first channel right? Can you record its channel of kontakt (st1,st2 etc)in the different channels we assign them?So can i record only djembe 1, or doun doun in a certain channel of maschine and not the all ensemble?I can see its drum in a different channel in maschine but i cant record it alone… Can i also have its instrument of the ensemble in different pad of maschine?so i can control and record them as different patterns … still waiting for Stoni,if you think of anyone else(maybe… Read more »
You can’t separate them by MIDI, only by audio, they do not respond to different MIDI channels.
One way you could do it, is load multiple instances of the ensembles, and go into the mixer in the West Africa and solo the specific sounds you want to hear, or mute everything but the djembe for example. Since 2.0 is multiprocessor, it wouldn’t take up too much cpu to do it that way.
Thanks again! Im getting there…
Did you try to record this midi in channel 1?
Is not recording
If you hit record, midi should be input on the pad you have kontakt loaded on.
Oups i dont have my controller connected work only with the software,is that the problem?
You’ll have to draw in the notes on the proper keys then
checking on it…thanks!
How can i export the midi channel i recorded as separate audio files(that you mention on the video?)?
https://maschinetutorials.com/how-to-export-projects-sounds-and-groups-as-audio-files-in-maschine-2-0/
I should search for it before ask!thanks…!!!
No problem!
Export as audio and then import the audio files in separate channels made work flow easier with those loops…West Africa covered! Thanks
cool, glad to help!
Or maybe a last one…What about the one shot sounds from this or other similar libraries (action strikes, cuba etc)
to separate channels in Maschine? Can i record one drum pattern in channel 1 a bell in channel 2 etc without have to load the Kontakt library again?
If there is a mixer in the kit it will work the same way, just depends on the kit you are using.
Not all of w.africa single samplers pass by the mixer, lets say when there is not a mixer, can i route this one loaded instrument sampler from kontakt to separate channels in maschine?Maybe a piano…so i record a melody in channel 1 and the chords in ch2?
you can load multiple instruments into one instance of Kontakt and route them to different channels in Maschine if that’s what you mean, but you can’t take a sound from within an instrument and route them to their own channels unless the instrument itself has a mixer to allow it.
Thanks!
Joe
My west african library for some reason appears at the users and not the NI instruments bank where all my others are(Action strikes etc),how can i bring it there?
thanks
Did you import it manually yourself? I would check in preferences and make sure it’s not added in your user locations. Then do a rescan of the main library folders.
And how can i change the way kontakt map my mk2 pads when i load and instrument?
If in pad 1 instead of bass tone i want the slap tone that its assign to pad 2 how can i change that?
In keyboard mode on the controller you can change the pad notes either by changing the root note of the pad or by changing the octave. Press the pad mode button and you’ll see the options on the screen.
Its the only library that wasnt appear(after i changed my hard drive and had a back up maybe…) in the factory library so i imported it manually threw the users, now its appears on the users and i cant see it in the factory one.
I remove it as you said and doing a rescan but still cant see it…
Can i import it manually in the factory library?
The pads are already assign in certain midi notes,so the C1 in the kontakt keyboard will always be in no1 pad, what about if i want it to appear in pad no5 so i can put the diferent sounds in a more practical for pad position top perform?
You would have to change the mapping in Kontakt not Maschine
I tried add the library threw the NI files import and its steal appears in the users bank.
Ok solved i rescan the users paths close it open it and came back! Thanks
Cool 🙂
Hey Joe!
This is the answer for mapping kontakt keys…

thanks
Yep, that’s what I meant by mapping it in Kontakt directly and not in Maschine, glad you found what you needed 🙂
