Here’s a quick freebie I posted on how to spread your drums or chops across the keyboard in Maschine 2.0
This is for those that are used to working on keyboard workstations or just like to have their drums or chops all laid out on the keys.
The process is a little different from the original Maschine as there is no longer a “sounds to midi notes” option
However, this will show you how to set it up, this is also the process you would use if you want to trigger your Maschine groups as a module in a DAW.
Im trying to set this up so my midi notes can record into but when I follow your steps one sound is still spread across the keys
I opened maschine 1.8 and I got it to work but no luck with 2.0
make sure you do it exactly as I showed in the video, and make sure you’re on the group tab and not the sound tab input
Thx its works in stand alone but when it Logic X is doesn’t spread across the keys
Ok thx I figured it out my last question is when a load a Maschine Kit e.g. 808 south is there a default I can make NI patterns not load
There is a little pattern icon at the bottom of the browser, maker sure that is turned off or from the controller make sure +patterns isn’t lit up.
Hey guys-
I get this concept just fine. The only issue I am having is that when I chop something up in to more than 16 pieces, I can’t seem to trigger slices 17 and up, no matter what I try. Saint, any ideas? Thanks for all your knowledge so far.
Did you do an apply slice to the pad or an apply to a new group?
Group. I tried pad too, but that really didn’t work.
The reason I asked is because by default if you apply it to the current pad all the chops will be laid out across the keyboard in pad mode.
Right on. I will give that a shot in a few. On a side note, have you noticed they got rid of copy/paste for scenes in 2.0? What a pain in the ass. Any workarounds for that?
Only option would be duplicate, I know it’s not the same but yeah…that’s what we’ve got now
That’s pretty cool and hassle free. Thinking about splitting the keyboard up over multiple midi channels using an external midi filter/plugin or something so you could trigger sounds from multiple groups. Thinking about lots of ways shit could be messed up here without things getting too much of a pain in the butt to configure.
Woop!
No doubt man, def many things you could do with it!
Hey Joe,
i still have this problem. Using Version 2.1.2 and i can’t find the “Source” button you’ve mentioned?
At “Group-Input -Midi” there’s only an “Active” slider. I’ve put “Active” on and selected a MDI Channel, but the keyboard only plays one note pitched over the whole keyboard. We can’t figure out how to get rid of it.
It’s not a button, it’s just a drop down, but make sure you are on the input and not the output tab.
Thanks for the fast reply. I really love that.
Ok you were talking about the Stand-Alone Version. You don’t have the the source drop down in the Plug.
But now i solved the problem. I think you have to set the Midikeyboard in the Stand-Alone and after that you need use the “Active”-Slider. Now it works for me.
Yeah, the source isn’t required unless you only want to use a specific input. In plugin mode it will receive input from any midi devices you have setup in your daw. So whatever device you have sending midi to the maschine track will automatically work.
So I did this, but now on my instrument tracks such as bass, horns etc. I’m hearing drums sounds and it’s really bugging me mad. Can you please inform me what have I miss out on
You can set the input type to “focus” so it only plays when you’re focused on that group.
