Hey what’s good fam!
I get this questions often when it comes to automation in Maschine, how to map and record automation from external gear.
Now I’ve shown how to map your external controller to macros in MaschineĀ and this will allow you to tweak and adjust, but you will not be able to actually record those movements unless you do it with the Maschine knobs.
Hopefully they change this in the future so you can learn the Maschine macros and automate them from external gear.
But until then I wanted to show you how you can map parameters of your plugins you have loaded in Maschine and record automation for those parameters from your external gear.

Can you save a template once mapped to your external controller?
You would just save the sound as a preset and it should recall properly.
hi,
which controller keyboard is that? Arturia?
Yeah it’s the Arturia KeyLab 49
DOpe vid !!
Yo Joe or Knock… Quick question for either or both of you cats. Was looking for video on what I’m trying to do but didn’t find it or overlooked it. Can you automate On and off let’s say on a Filter in Maschine? Tried myself but nothing seemed to work…
Since a filter doesn’t have an actual “on/off” button you would basically have to automate the cutoff. When I want a filter off I turn the cutoff all that way open in the opposite direction. So if I’m cutting the low end, I will have a low pass filter turned all the way up to where it’s not cutting anything, same for a highpass. Then when I want it on I automate it to where I want it.
Ok cool!!! Thanks fam. Would I need to do anything different if I wanted that Low pass filter to just effect a certain scene/ pattern?
So basically what I do is, by default I would turn it all the way up or “open” then in the patterns I want it on I would automate the filter sweep, etc. And at the very end of that pattern I would draw in an automation to turn it all the way up so that way it doesn’t stay on between patterns.
Gotcha! That worked perfectly
Thanks for the help kid!
Cool man!
Thank you St Joe!
No problem man!
