Here’s a video showing how to properly drag audio from Maschine 2.0 into Ableton Live 9
For those that prefer to use Ableton for their final arrangement and wish to use Maschine 2 as a loop/pattern idea tool, this is a good workflow for that.
I also highight some snags you may run into and how to fix them so that your audio plays back properly.

I think Maschine 2 offers a better approach to drag and drop. It’s a lot faster and cleaner. With the previous version I had ran into stability issues depending on the complexity of the project.
I like having the button right there personally. If they made a quick way to drag multiple single tracks, that would be ill.
Oh snap that would be ill. Maybe they’ll add that in a future update.
Yeah I think it would be dope!
Yo Saint Joe and The whole Maschine family hope you’re all well and enjoying Jamming on the new software. Seems we’re taking about DAW integration and specifically Ableton I’m confused about the MIDI out capability. So I hit the sound output tab and select that I want the MIDI from that sound to transmit on channel 2 at a root note of C3. I go to a MIDI channel in Ableton select MIDI IN from MASCHINE 2.0 then I should used the drop down box directly under that to select which MIDI channel specifically – in this example channel 2… Read more »
What exactly are you trying to record into Ableton? Because they have changed some things unfortunately.
Hi Saint Joe
I like making 16 simple drum patterns and then jamming by switching between these patterns to create more complex drum arrangements – with Maschine 2.0 I can now capture the midi being spit out in Ableton and then edit these midi patterns further.
Did you have it set to use “midi out to host” ?
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow!!!!!! This is super dope!
Yeah brotha, now I just need them to let us drag multi stems.
Nice, nice – agreed 200% on the multi-stem idea – would be a huge timesaver.
On a related note – seems really odd that the audio-drop button is on the right side of the Maschine interface – seems like you, me, and everyone else drags to their LEFT when drag/dropping audio into Live.
Its a small thing, but all these little navigational decisions add up to a better experience.
Yeah I drag this way in mostly every daw for sure
So if you have effects on your Machine Groups or Sounds, will your tracks keep the same effects when dragged to Ableton? If not, is there a way to do it like that?
It depends on how you have your effects routed, if they are directly on the sounds and not through aux routing or something like that you should be good. Another way is to simply use the file menu to export your sounds as wave files.
Right on, thanks.
No problem
Thanks Saint Joe. Happy to come back once in a while and find exactly what I need. This subscription is the best investment I did to save time while producing.
That’s exactly what my vision was for this site, glad you find it useful!
