Looks fine, but needs a real time option. Previewing existing loops etc really needs to be done real time at project tempo. Its been available elsewhere for well over 10 years.
The ability to set a project key would also be cool.
Yeah, but realtime wasn’t mentioned for this update so we all knew that wasn’t going to happen, I expect that to happen in a new “version” not an update, seems they will need to change the underlying code but I could be wrong. Timestretch isn’t something I’ve ever really used much but it’s cool to have I know a lot of people use it.
I wasn’t implying that I expected it, sorry if I gave that impression. I always felt that they were holding it for 2.0, and still do.
I use timestretching all the time. I religiously keep and catalogue everything I do, and have a huge collection of my own phrases and loops, as well as commercial libraries.
That’s why I still have Acid installed. For high speed chopping/pitching/stretching its still an indispensable tool for me. There are still things that Acid does thats not available elsewhere.
No I understood and I FULLY agree was just saying they didn’t give us any indication we’d get something like that yet. I think it’s much needed. Personally I use more of the acid style/ableton auto time match than this type as you say, I have many libraries and I just like to drop them in and have them match my tempo lol.
Hopefully 2.0 brings something like that unless they surprise us before then lol hey…a man can dream right?
yes, you gotta get creative fellas…it’s just another tool! I think this is great…I’m in aww right now. Of-course the future will hold on line time stretch, but this will get the job done! Maaaan!
I’ve been waiting for this forever,
How good though do you think Maschine is at detecting the Source Tempo?
Or would you suggest that we find the BPM ourselves?
Can I apply this to an existing sample in Pad Mode? For example, I have a rhodes sample that plays normally on pad 1 but speeds up the higher up I play it. When I enter Sampling mode, it only detects the BPM of the original sample. How do I adjust it so that every pad I hit, the speed of the sample is the same?
That would require real time timestretch which isn’t here yet, this is really an audio edit process and each pad in keyboard mode isn’t its own sample it so it doesn’t work the way you are looking for currently
Even offline, timestretch is really cool. I worked on a bunch of loops I had sampled and it worked flawlessly. Going to try some acapella’s tomorrow. Nice tutorial! In the past if I really needed something time stretched, I just dragged it into Traktor. For some, I am sure that would be a pain in the butt, but works well for me.
So SaintJoe…Is it really true that you can do all of your timestreching and pitch shifting directly in Maschine now and it detects the BPM of a sample without using a plugin like Edison or Audacity?????
Nice video SJ – the videos are looking a bit sharper than before – nice angles, too. 🙂
Wow – I know peeps want realtime TS, but this is better than what I imagined ‘offline’ time stretching to entail. I’ll definitely get some use out of this.
One question – does applying time stretching and pitch shift create new audio files on your Hard drive, or is the software simply referencing the original file, and not creating time stretched duplicates?
Yeah man it works the same way as other edit functions in Maschine, it will make a numbered duplicate so it will make a sample[1] and so on as you edit it 🙂
They did a good job on it imo, it’s fast and sounds good. Glad you like the angles 🙂
Any one else notice that when you are editing a samples start or end points the meter is very jumpy when controlling it from the hardware? I don’t have issues when I am dragging the start/end points on the software. Hope this makes sense.
Yes, and I do not like it one bit lol. We’ve let NI know and people are talking about it on the forums. Some like it, some don’t. I say if it’s a new thing they added they should make it an option, if it’s a bug, they need to fix it!
I Can’t seem to time stretch or pitch shift samples in Maschine 2.0. I put all the info in, and when it’s ready to go, I hit apply and nothing happens. (the apply button is not frozen though). Is there something i need to do to make sure timestretching will work?
hi saintjoe- just joined- you’ve been really helpful so far. I’m using 2.2 with maschine mk2. i was wondering if there was an option to timestrech WITHOUT auto pitch correction? i’d like it to sound natural. i.e. stretch sample from 100 to 93 bpm it will also be pitched down.
thanks
So you want it to change pitch when you change the speed? There is a tone setting that allows you to do that on the TS settings. By default to time stretch means changing the speed without changing the pitch.
Thanks for the quick reply. Where is this tone setting? In the TS settings I see Tune, Formant C, Mode, Auto Dtct, Src Bpm, New BPM and Length.
I’ve changed the pitch and speed together on the sample itself in sound mode with tempo/jog wheel control – but when I put it back in sampler mode/slice the pitch and speed are back to the original settings! I suppose I could re sample the sound and then go into slice but I thought there’d be a quicker way around this. Sorry if it sounds confusing and thanks again for your time.
Yeah, tune my bad lol. Make sure you actually apply the stretch/tune though, othwrwise it won’t change the sample. It’s an edit function so you have to actually apply it.
Sounds great and so fast.
Yes it’s super fast and does sound great even done at extremes

can u do this across ur key board? for example have the sample playing at diffrent pitches across the keyboard but all at same speed?
this is an offline audio edit feature not a realtime timestretch like kontakt

this is alot faster than i thought good sh*t
Yes indeed man, joint is fast!

yeah man, there you go!
Yo SaintJoe do I need to uninstall 1.7 to install Maschine 1.8?
No it goes right over the top of 1.7 🙂
Another great tool indeed. 🙂
cool man!
noticing the video camera is looking more pro….
stretch really doesn’t sound grainy…very nice….
Word, updated it about 3 months ago, loving it man! TS sounds really good and works really fast!
I’ve been waiting for this forever,

It’s actually very good, best when you have a nice loop but it’s really good

Yep, as seen in the video

Haha couldn’t agree more – its driving me crazy. Thanks for the reply..hopefully this gets resolved.
Yeah man, I’m sure it will…I hope!

Do you have the edit range set to something smaller than the sample so it has nothing to stretch? Is the whole sample highlighted?
Do 2.0 have real time stretch ?
Yeah, it’s still in the sample edit screen
Where so you get samples like that in wav btw
all types of places, big fish, patchbanks, raw cuts, sample magic, etc, just depends on what you want

No doubt fam! Always glad to help.
