Yo what’s good MT fam! This is another video of me exploring Logic.
Saintjoe talked about mapping the transport controls of your daw to Maschine in his daw sequencing video, but he didn’t show it!
So I wanted to show how to do it in Logic, let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Again. It’s March Maschine Madness I love it.
Is there a video showing how to do this with cubase 5?
Not specifically but the process is pretty similar, Cubase may even be a little bit easier to map/midi learn in.
Hey Joe. I tried to find a way to set this up in Cubase 5, and could not find a way. Maybe I’m over thinking it. But if you have any insight on this it would be truly appreciated.
Checkout this one I did on Ableton see if it helps, if not, let me know and I’ll work on a video for Cubase for ya.
Im really trying man But each program is different. Ive been using Cubase/Nuendo since 2003 so I feel very comfortable with it. I’ve never used Logic before. and i have Ableton but never used it.
All these programs are different which makes it a tad confusing.
I’ll see what I can figure out, I have Cubase LE
Thanks bro. Even if you can show me with LEt that would be a great help.
whats up everybody…..so i just went toy hunting and picked up the novation ultra nova and the komplete 7 software……and was wondering if anyone wanted to throw me a few tips on it………i know nothing bout ether…thnx and peace……….
have fun with em lol, install the software and learn it, I used to have a novation supernova back in the day, don’t know much about the ultra nova but I think it’s a similar engine just scaled down a bit, have fun with that stuff man. To much there for general tips, just ask when you have questions.
thnx bro will do
I went over to the Dark Side a few weeks ago and got a Mac, basically for Logic. This will definitely save me some time, thanks.
Yur gonna love it…I had to do the same thing
The Dark Side man you just saw the light!
@Mean Gene
Haha! Set myself up for that one. I’m just joking of course, having a dual boot system is fantastic, and I’m looking forward to using Logic as I just personally don’t enjoy Pro Tools that much.
Parallels Desktop. Why dual boot when you can run both on the same desktop.
anybodyawake out there?
what you mean? You need to be specific, and plus this would be something to ask in the forum, as it doesn’t have anything to do with the logic transport video, folks can give you better help there 🙂
yo knock good looks on this vid……….quick question…if i tryed to run what you posted on this vid and its replys
no message received yet! what does that mean?
ok i see now why its not….i cant seem to get my play button to turn off.
off to kill sheep…….be safe peoples
Fam…did you get that to work? Let me know.
Not yet….I don’t see what it ain’t workin
Yo Knock!
PERFECT, PERFECT, P-E-R-F-E-C-T!!!!!
I was SO tired of using my mac’s keyboard and mouse for logic transport controls! Was puttin a serious dent in my flow. I just HAD to uncloak to say THANK YOU! Can you & Joe see me now? NOPE! Too late. Cloaked…….. but watchin’.
I see you son lol, hahahaha.
Quick question! In MIDI Controller mode, how do i make my pads full velocity when i hit them? im using Logic to sequence but i cant find a way to do it. all help appreciated.
I don’t think you can set “full velocity” in midi mode. You may be able to do it in the controller editor, just set the velocity range for the pads 127 for low and 127 for high. But there is no switch for it like in Maschine mode.
Yo what up fellas! Thanks a ton for posting this. I have finally figured out the transport controls. I am having one problem though. Everything is working fine but I cannot hear sound. I have been having a lot of problems with this. I thought I solved the problem by just switching it to an audio track to hear it, but now that doesn’t work either.
It is on an instrument track and all the transport controls are set. I can see the midi notes in the sample editor, but still no sound. Any ideas??
Whats Up Matt. Once you have everything set up. Put maschine in midi controller mode then select “GROUP E” That should let you hear the pads when you hit them. Alos make sure that the left hardware screen says “Template:01 – New Template” If it doesnt thenhold shift button down and hit the left right arrows under the “BROWSE and SAMPLE.. Let me know if this works. Also make sure that the track that you want record on is in “rec ready” mode (the “R” is red)
What up man! Ok I figured it out but there is just something im not really feeling about it. I like using maschine in stand alone mode and just dragging and dropping in it. but when I tried to do that, i couldnt hear the sound either when i dropped it onto logic. am i doing something wrong?
Are you dragging audio or midi? If audio, you should be able to hear it when you drag it to a new track in Logic.
Hmm, Ill have to check that out tomorrow. Ill get back to ya..
All Solo off
All Mutes Off
Whaaaat man yes I could not figure out how to do this in logic to save my life got addicted to it in Propellerhead Record
now I got my Maschine solo and mute buttons set to do it
HUGE WORKFLOW ENHANCEMENT!!!!!!
Hi Knock…
Man how did you record the MIDI notes in Logic from the Software instrument instead of the External Intrument the way that you showed before in your videos… how can you do that?
Thanks!!!
Carbonio…I dont quite understand what you mean. Can you explain more…also let me know which video you are talking about where I did what you are asking. Thanks
Hey Knock… Sorry but I mean in the Tutorial where you Integrate Maschine inside of Logic. You know after all, I mean open a Software Instrument, load Maschine, go to the Environment tab… you create an External Instruments where you assign all the channel for each of you groups and sound that lives in Maschine. That’s how I’m doing. But in this tutorial you record your sound inside of the Software Instrument. I just wanna know how i can do that instead of record in the External Instrument. Or maybe it’s my misunderstood lol… Thanks for your tutorials Knock Help… Read more »
If you just want to record inside of Maschine itself, you don’t need to setup sounds to midi settings to do that, just hit record on the Maschine sequencer and it will work.
