Many don’t realize Maschine has all the basic waveforms and controls of a basic synth.
In this basic sound design tutorial I want to show you how to use the factory sine wave to make your own sub bass.
Instead of searching for that perfect bump, this will show you how to make your own!
Oh oh, there must have been some requests for this!
Lol…just trying to get deeper into the system fam. Gonna go through each effect as well. And yes, there was a request for how to make that deep sub bass. lol.
are you using a seperate keyboard or something in order to have different tones/sounds?
I have my midi keyboard hooked up, if you don’t have one you can put the pad in keyboard mode and do the same thing.
Nice one, still the best deal around this MT Fam stuff! Always learning over here 🙂
Thanks bro, there’s so much here in this Maschine we want to share 🙂 All the small parts work together to make a MONSTER production tool in my opinion. Also I like doing stuff like this so people don’t feel they NEED plugins and libraries, Maschine is a very capable synth in it’s own right.
ah ok, yea that makes sense.. also, if i can ask, what i have been wondering for a while, is it possible to double one specific pattern in length, so that keeps that exact pattern for second half as well, without replaying it.
for example, like you said have a 4 bar pattern, but i want those 4 bars to repeat 4 times in a 16 bar pattern, but i dont wanna record again for 16 bars.
haha this might be hard to understand but i hope you get what im tryna ask
press the pattern button, then press double, it will double it, if you need to double it again, press double again 🙂
yess allright thats what i was looking for thanks a lot man!
cool man, glad to help.
It got to be August up in here with all these hot tips and music.
SHEEEESH! Great vid as usually homie!!! Going make this one work.
Have fun bro!
Thanks man! Keep up the good work. Keep em coming 🙂
No doubt fam, we pushing and pushing, glad yall diggin it!
Yeah very nice. this is so basic and i never had the idea to do it all right inside maschine :))
No doubt man, have fun with it!
good tut. So can this be applied to kick drum too? or would you use a different technique?
you wouldn’t use this technique with a kick drum because the decay isn’t long enough to sustain it like an instrument. But you could use a similar technique with an 808 type kick.
nice!!!!
Have fun!
st joe? a lil off topic…but can u do this in kontakt?
if you have a sine wave, yes, any sampler will do it.
I didn’t know Maschine was a synth too! Thanks St.Joe!
Oh yeah! There’s tons in here to keep you busy, check the waveform bank and make your own sounds 🙂
dope exactly what I need respect to saintjoe for this
No doubt fam!
yup, yup.. square wave is my fav!!! wobble wobble!!
awww yeah lol
Is it possible to use the sine wave in maschine with an 808 and make it even deeper. I mean layer
Yes, you can do that if you want to
JUST WHAT THE DOC ORDER!!!!!!!!!!
Word fam! Hope you can use it.
sick tip nothing better than an homemade bass !
yes indeed!
Hmmm…really strange – ‘Waveform’ tag seems to not be in my library….although the waveforms themselves are….BasicSin c3 etc etc
On my HD, in the Maschine library folder, there is a folder called waveforms – but its not in my Maschine browser when I look for it.
What gives?
are you looking under instruments and not samples?
No, I’m looking in samples
LLook in instruments 🙂
Nope, nothing in Instruments either. 🙁
They are there – there just isn’t a tag for it. Odd.
Weird man lol
I suppose I could just re-tag them all – this is gonna be fun.
But great tutee, anyway Joe – its definitely given me some new angles to work with with the Factory workout…
…its great being able to make instruments out of one-shots that otherwise don’t really appeal – it massively expands your sound palette for the workout.
Yes indeed, that’s the idea, as you experiment the more you learn about maschine
Hmm….OK – I retagged all of the waveforms with ‘Waveform’ as their type, and ‘BasicSin’ ‘FifthSaw’ etc etc in the Subtype.
The thing is, they are located in Samples when browsing the Maschine library from the software.
How do I get them to relocate to the Instruments area? (thats where they are supposed to be, right?)
There are instruments and there are samples. Two different things you can’t move them. Find the waveform instruments under the instrument category and retag them from there.
It seems you are saving as on a pc. How do I save as on a mac?
It’s the same process on a Mac/PC
Wish I could make your videos full screen on the IPad!!!!!!!!’!!!!!!!
Yeah me too! I been in touch with our video host, they say they are working on it, I don’t understand how fullscreen can work on mobile phones but not the ipad, but it’s not optimized for it I guess smh.
Great video dude…….Just what I was looking for, Cheers
Cool fam, glad to help!
This is the best VIDEO EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So now you can make your own sounds thats what I need. Can you make a video more on EQ and how to use it on the other sounds. And do I use eq before the compressor? Thanks man dope vid!
Glad you dig it! EQ is really a preference thing and really depends on the sound you’re going after, think of eq as a filter, each band can cut or boost certain frequencies. A good rule of thumb is, if you don’t need certain frequencies for a sound, cut it out 🙂 Say you have a nice snare, well you don’t really need low end on a snare, like stuff in the bass ranges 100Hz or lower, stuff like that you can cut out to clean up your mix. But again, really depends on what you’re going for…sometimes you may… Read more »
Saint Joe! Thanks for making this tutorial. I’m from FL and I’ve been trying to get that Magic Mike type Tone to my sub bass. You set me on my way blood. Thanks as always!
G
Glad to help fam!!
i believe these waveforms in maschine 2.0 are located under samples now right st. joe? i just started typing the names in under samples because i couldn’t find the waveforms tag in my library in 2.0…
Those are the samples, but the instruments are still there as well, under sounds/instrument/waveform
I’m late man but thanks!
No problem man, you’re not late 🙂
I cant see the videos… I became a member and I still cant see the videos
Make sure you complete the registration process again. You should receive a link in your email.
what registration? I didn’t received nothing … I paid the 9.95.. can u send me the registration?
You’re supposed to be sent to the registration page after you pay, but I see you received the link and got registered properly.
I’m late too but curious what midi keyboard do you use? and mad respect sj I have learned alot!!
No problem fam, I’ve always thought of MT as an archive, so you can always go back and find some goodies.
Right now I’m using the NI s49 keyboard, a couple weeks ago it was my Yamaha MoXF6, before that it was the Arturia KeyLab 49…I tend to chance around as I’m always testing different things lol.
That’s cool I’m trying to get one to use with my maschine but wasn’t sure of a good one to get for a decent price that would work well with the software I really wanna get that ni komplete s49 haha but it’s pricy plus you have to have the komplete 10 I’m Ballin on a budget rn so you know trying to do what I can lol
Bruh I know all about it fam!
