This tutorial shows the proper way of loading a drum kit without loading the preset pattern.
I know this particular issue is a frustrating one that comes up for many first time maschine users.
Originally we just had to delete the pattern after loading a kit but Native Instruments implemented a dedicated feature to handle it in one of the early software updates.
To help with this question I felt the need to create a video showing exactly how to handle this.

It was frustrating for me, trying to figure after unboxing, but yo, good look. Didn't know you could utilize the patterns like that.
yessir 🙂
Yeah, that’s hot. Had no idea how to swap kits in and out, which is something I’m used to doing in Live. Nice!
yessir 🙂 Definitely makes it more flexible

I’m coming off the MPC3000 and this is first hardware/software hybrid that made sense to me.
However I never would have purchased Maschine if if wasn’t for your videos.
Now I’m Loving it!
That’s what’s good fam! I come from the mpc 4k myself so I know what you mean. Glad to help yo!
Brand new to maschine and here.Havin problems after I’m loading my kits, the pattern is showing in the software and I can play the pads individually ,but when I hit play nothing happens it doesn’t run through the pattern.I know it’s something simple but it’s doing my head in.
Go to the file menu and make sure “synch to external MIDI clock” isn’t checked.
Ah yes ,cheers bro ! 1 down countless more to go.Thrilled to have found your site

could you give us a link to where we could customize our maschine hardware, I saw a youtube video where the guy was puttting on wooden sides and a white/yellow/blue cover but if you guys could affiliate with one another, or post a video relating to the matter… that’d be awesome ^_^

THxxx man ! helpfull
glad to help man!
the video is down bro @saintjoe
This one seems to be showing on my end, but I will re-embed it anyway 🙂
Saintjoe, Am I correct in that you can’t toggle between both modes? For example, If I load a kit without the pattern, hit play, I don’t hear the pattern, I’m good. Then I load a kit with the pattern, hit play, i hear pattern, fine. Now I go back to try and hear a new kit without the pattern, hit play, but I still hear the pattern, even though I uncheck the box on the hardware & software. I have to erase the whole kit and start again. I can’t just go between with or without the pattern. Is that… Read more »
Once you have a pattern on a group, loading a new kit will not remove the pattern it will only load the new sounds. The box is only pertaining to loading the pattern that is saved with the kit. So if you want to get rid of of the pattern you just press shift+clear.
Hahaha some other website tried to get 800 bucks from me to take their class!! Your tutorials rock!! I am learning this Maschine just fine over here! You got my endorsement!
Thanks for the support man! Glad to help!
