Hey what’s good fam!
Hope all is well!
I was playing around last night with the BeatStep and from Arturia and thought I’d share how I use it with Maschine.
It’s a really simple setup but can be a fun way to come up with new and creative sequences for your sounds given the different scales and options you can control from the BeatStep.
Check out this video I put up on our YouTube channel
Of course if you have questions let me know!
…Hmm…. is it Saint Joe, Skillz Joe, Smart Joe, Studio Joe?
SJ my man, Brillant.
Hahaha, thought you’d like that one fam lol.
Just what I was looking for, a device to give those Arps! my Motif has… Darnit Joe another 100$ bucks out of my pockets! lol
Hahahaha, it’s a cool device indeed!
What’s good St. Joe!
Are you able to open up and sync the Arturia MIDI Control Software while you have the BeatStep turned on MIDI IN and OUT on Maschine? I would think this would work, but for some reason the two won’t work simultaneously, just one or the other. In really wanna use the Arturia MIDI software to mess with the BeatStep in Maschine but it’s not happening
The software talks directly to the BeatStep and is for configuration not really for having open the whole time you’re using it. If you have it active in Maschine or any other software as a MIDI input then the MIDI input ports will be in use and the software can’t access it.
You could try hooking up a physical MIDI cable from it to Maschine, and that may allow you to use the USB connection for MIDI in the software, as long as you don’t have it turned on (the usb input from BS) in Maschine.
Nice man. I will try that out. I am mainly interested in
–adjusting note length
–seeing the root note of the sequence
–and tweeking the knob sensitivity
From what I can tell these are done on the MIDI editor…is there any way to adjust the note length of one particular note in the sequence from the hardware alone?
You can adjust the length of all the notes I believe using shift plus one of the top 3 knobs, but I don’t think you can do individual notes, I could be wrong though.
Nice I am going to keep playing around with it. Thanks!
Cool man!
