Hey what’s good fam!
Got a question on how to use Razor as a vocoder inside of Maschine 2.
It’s actually a little bit easier to setup in Maschine 2 thanks to the way routing is setup on each pad.
You can do this from the mixer or directly in the channel section on the pad but the process is the same either way.
Of course if you have any questions about this setup feel free to ask, I always want to make sure you understand clearly so please ask if something isn’t making sense.

good lookin my dude! ive noticed that some of the presets are triggered from the pad and others arent. did you know why that is?
All of the vocoder presets need to have midi input to work, so either from the pad or your keyboard.
yeah , but some of the presets just work when i drop them in without being triggered ! i may still have it set up wrong! but i got it working regardless!lol
Some have more of a drone effect so they are always making some type of noise, but triggering via midi is how you control a vocoder in general.
I honestly don’t use it at all, so I haven’t messed with all the presets but wanted to make sure you knew how to set it up 🙂
i appreciate your prompt response !!!! thx for the vied btw ! i love this forum !
No doubt fam, glad to help.
Lol old post but is there a way to route Razor to directly to sampler inside maschine? I want to be able to hear the vocoder changes in ear and sing live to the changes (rather than record vocal and then apply effects-improv singing with the effects may dictate a different pitch). I am trying to skip the midi input too. I set my sampler input to 1R/1L and hear my own voice, then open Razor on a different pad and…well lol here we are..thanks man..your vids been helping me get to that dream for a few years now
All good! What you could do is on the pad you have Razor on, go to the input section and set its input to your mic input, then set the sampler to the pad Razor is on. That will give you the output of Razor in the sampler. Not sure you’ll be able to really hear the vocoder without MIDI input though as that’s part of playing the vocoder sound.
a similar Mouth tutorial would be cool
Cool I’ll knock one out then.
never tried this before but when you say trigger it with pads, it has to be in keyboard mode right to play your voice back by a certain pitch like c3 or g3 or c#4 right?
thanks!
Yeah or using your midi controller.
Thanks!
Hey whats going on Saintjoe. Hey I’m going to the input and i can’t seam to get any sound out of any Ext. 1-4. Is there something i need to set up in settings or something like that. i followed all your directions on how to use this but not getting any action or indication any sound is coming out, and yes I’m holding down the keyboard key when using it . Your help is appreciated
Ok i put it on Ext.1 and i put midi all on in the source and now i am getting a signal but not getting the vocoder effect. Thanks
You don’t have to set the midi source to all for it to work, just make sure you have your mic setup in audio preferences to work on input number 1 if that’s the input you wish to use.
Yeah it is it just won’t make any sound I’m doing exactly what your doing step from step if I use the mouth it works but not razor. I can record my voice In the sampler too. Weird. Thanks though
Make sure you’re using a vocoder patch.
What do you mean by the vocoder patch?
There are vocoder presets in razor, everything isn’t a vocoder, some are just synth presets.
Hey- cool stuff. When I set it up as directed I am able to get the vocoder effect, but I also hear my voice – almost over the too of it. How do I get all vocoder effect and no naked voice like you did in the video?
Thanks!
I didn’t do anything specific besides route into Reaktor, make sure you’re sampling from the group/pad Reaktor is on and not your mic input.
I figured out what my problem was thanks! Had monitor on in Universal Control for my interface.
Cool man, yeah I keep monitor off for my mic so didn’t think about that.
Can use this feature inside a maschine when Im using it inside a daw?
Yeah, you’d just have to route the audio to whatever track Maschine is on. In a daw it would probably be easier to load Razor as a plugin on it’s own track though.
