Hey what’s good fam, just wanted to share a quick video on setting up the host transport control inside of Cubase.
We already did videos for Ableton and Logic, but had some questions on a few others including Cubase so I wanted to get it knocked out for ya.
The idea behind this setup, is that you can control the transport of Cubase while still in Maschine control mode and not MIDI mode.

Thank you so much fam. This was a big BIG help! The part that was messing me up was on the cubase end and where to find the Mackie controller in the Device setup. Once again Thank You Guys.
Cool bro, glad to help!
Yup! Nice!
Indeed sir
Good video. Seems really similar to the Logic video. I have Presonus Studio 2. Could you do one on that DAW as well. Thanks.
Cool, yep, I’ll get Studio One knocked out for ya!
Hi there, I seem to be having an issue with the transport control section. (none of it works). I don’t have an option for the mackie controller in the template section in the controller.
Click the drop down menu below the templates, then click “append” and you should see it show up in the box for you to open.
There is “new, open, export, duplicate, delete” no append
yeah my bad, that’s the old one lol, in the new one you should have a drop down next to it that says factory templates, and in there should be a mackie one
Where do I find the new one……I downloaded it from the Nov 2013 tutorial
Nah I meant that’s the old version of controller editor that had “append” mackie is a factory template you don’t need to download it.
Any ideas as to why the transport isn’t working if the Mackie option isn’t needed? Thanks in advance.
I’m saying there is no download for mackie alone, it’s included in the control editor program by default. You can download the latest controller editor from your NI account, and it should be in there. Make sure you put a check by “host transport control” on the template you’re using.
I followed what you did, and re-assigned the “restart” button for “record” by assigning ’95’ to it. But in the meantime, the “rec” button is still assigned to 95. When i use it for transport control, the “rec” button is still lit up in red, and not dedicated just for maschine.
So you assigned “restart” to 95/record. What about the actuall “rec” button itself? You can’t have to buttons assigned tot he same parameter, can you?
You can change your assignments as needed. When I used it REC was not used by the DAW but by Maschine, just make sure you’re in Maschine mode and not midi mode.
Ah, its good to be back in America and using my down time to learn all this. I could sit here for days and just study and practice this. thank.
oh and is there a specifc DAW that works full on on startup with the Maschine 2?
Welcome back! Every daw will require some setup to integrate with maschine just depends on what you’re trying to do.
Hi Joe,
I don´t get this working wih Cubase 8.05 and Maschine 2.4.
No reaction to any transport buttons whatsoever. Neither in Midi nor in Plug in Mode.
In My controller Editor (mac) there is no such option as “Append”. I just chose the Mackie template and Activated the remote Mackie Control in Cubase. But, nothing happens…
Can you help?
Thanks Peter
Did you turn on “host transport control” in controller editor? Did you set the mackie control to use the Maschine intput/output in Cubase?
1. yes – is it activated as soon as I click it or is there any hidden “Ok” or something to activate it?
2. yes, for Midi input i tried both “Maschine Anschluss 1” (sorry, German, Anschluss means connection) and The Maschine Virtual Input – I also tried some settings for Midi output, which you apparently did not do in the tutorial.
And thanks for your quick reaction, that is GREAT
Hmmm, I’m not sure if you need the virtual input, that’s the input from the maschine plugin. You would want the input from the maschine controller itself I think. (we don’t have the virtual input/output on PC)
Yeah, tried that. Doesn´t work. Any ideas?
Nope, maybe they’ve changed something in the latest version of Cubase. I’ll have to take a look at it to see if it still works. I’ll try to check it out this week.
I am using Cubase 8.0.5. Not the latest version…
How can I check if Cubase receives any commands from the Transport Section? Would be a way to get closer to the problem….
I’m not a Cubase user so I don’t know if they have any tools to check that sort of thing. The version if have/used was like version 6, so the latest version would be better for me to test on.
Here’s the video on setting it up with Cubase Pro 8.5 https://maschinetutorials.com/using-mackie-control-template-cubase-pro-8-5/
