What’s good fam, this is another free video in the MPC to Maschine tutorial series aimed at helping folks who are transitioning from the hardware to software hybrid setup.
Anyone that’s used an MPC for a long time will already have a huge collection of sounds, kits, and program files that they may want to use.
Now while it’s true that like going from any sampler to another, not everything will translate over, most of your sounds should come over fine.
All of your filter tweaks and everything may not be that because, as with any conversion, the destination sampler may not be setup with the same functions and features as the source sampler.
That said, you don’t have to throw away all those kits, and if anything, they can be a great starting point for new kits in Maschine
wow !
need to get my zip disks converted to usb drives now
Or find a usb zip drive LOL
lol my zip drive is broke, dont even know how im gonna transfer without one
Get a usb zip drive son! lol, they got em, I helped my boys transition to maschine by getting one. They came from the 3k and 2k
aight imma look on ebay now. Thanx SJ
cant wait to see what else you have on this topic
NO doubt fam, good luck 🙂
Mainly a bunch of small things I usually get asked by folks used to using an MPC.
What do you tell folks on non MPC hardware?
Not sure what you mean, but Maschine only reads akai formats, so, everyone else is out of luck LOL.
Lmao…yes indeed they are! Just wanted to see you say it lol
Hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa LOL, you thought you was bout to drag some asrx kits in huh sir? LOL
Well if they wave you can still do it LOL hahahaha.
Oh homie, I have zero floppies for an ASR-X. And I ain’t trying to use any of that cousins sounds. Honestly I doubt he sampled any drums. I’m sure he just used the stock sounds smh. That ASR-X Pro deserves better lol
My other cousin on the other had, he has archives of stuff on his ASR-X. He’s SOL lol
LOL hahahahaha.
Yessssssssssssssss homie love this one man. I just need to find a usb zip drive lol and I’m good to go. I got the whole Bangin-beats.com library and 5 zips I need to bring into Maschine.
This is excellent. Thinking of some more Mpc to Maschine questions.
Yeah brotha! I need to pull my old soundcrafting orange floppies out son SMH!!! LOL!!!! Craziness bruh, straight shenanigangs lol.
But yeah man, that banginbeats library still thumps, and it wasn’t cheap, you better find you a usb zip drive and breath some live into them zips son!
Just won a bid on ebay, used usb 250mb zip drive $30 bucks including shipping. Im on it SJ lol, bout load up all my brother’s old samples he used to stash, most def gonna have fun with this in maschine. …..only thing i miss in the mp was the ease of getting my beats started in the the sequencer (with no quantize or quantize) for some reason it takes a while for me to get my 1st drum pattern in maschine rockin how i want . I tried all the grid settings (including no grid ect) in maschine but… Read more »
Dope brotha! Have fun… And you can never spam bruh, we here to discuss it all! I feel you man, def understand what you sayin, just takes some time to get used to the different sequencer I guess. Also remember that Maschine’s sequencer has a higher resolution than the mp had, so you have more room for your notes to move around, lower resolution of the mp would allow your notes to sorta “fall” better into the grid, where the maschine is exactly where you put it. I’m no talking about quantize or anything. For example, the 4k, it has… Read more »
Would be dope if u could change that ppq setting in maschine somehow. Would be a nice feature in a update but i know that prob wouldnt be popular wit alot of cats. I never relize those tec stuff with each sequencer but makes a whole lot of sense. I still have my mpc 2k, and i just wish that one little problem i be havin can be fixed somehow but like u said u just gotta work at it
Only product I know that can change ppq like that is Beat Thang honestly lol, they let you go from 96 up to 960 🙂
thats dope. Its sounds like it could be a simple fix if NI wanted to add it in a update but i know i wouldnt be that lucky for that lol.
word, not sure if they would see the benefit but could be cool to have the option
Omg just watched the ppq setting demo of beat thang on youtube. I dont care for beat thang but thst setting mixed wit ni vintage mode would be crazy dope.. Maschine would be a throwback and future drum maschine in one… Dam i gotta write to NI NOW LOL
Start a petition! I’ll sign it! Lol
hahahaha no doubt
can’t you convert asrx files with chicken sys translator?
Yeah you could
What’s chicken sys?
sample format translation software
joe i i have a usb zip drive how do i get windows to read the drive once the zip disk are in there so i can copy the files over
You should just be able to pull them up, they should be formatted in basic fat32 so Windows should be able to see them without any special effort. Does Windows see the drive?
yes windows see’s the drive. my version of windows is windows 7
Yeah you couldnot sure why it won’t read your discs then unless your mpc used a propriety system when formatting it. I thought the all used basic fat file system. I don’t have any zip drive or discs to test
yeah it was an mpc 2oooxl it see’s the drive windows that is then when i click it it tells me there’s no disc
weird, maybe win 7 can’t read it properly? you have an older pc lying around to try it on?
I might have found a work around for this, but i can seem to get the pitch right. Go to this page and download the MPC editor. http://www.midicase.com/mpceditor/
Then create your programs from your zip disk, and then export them with sounds, then load them up like the video says, as you will see the program file. but It doesn’t say the pitch right, and i can’t figure it out why not. so St.Joe, maybe you can take over from here.
Thanks
Yeah, I’ve used mpceditor previously and it should definitely be able to read any mpc disk. As for the pitch, not sure, i’d have to see the program file, as I stated, not everything transfers over correctly and it could be an issue with what the mpceditor is reading from the disk or the format you’re saving in. I think you can choose mpc 3k, 2k, and 2kxl if I’m not mistaken? It’s been a while since I used that program lol
Yes you can save it as an mpc 3000 program, what is the benifits of saving it this way? Also i for got to mention that MPC editor is free now.
I just think each one saves stuff differently so it may be worth checking out. Good news that it’s free now, as folks can use this to make Maschine kits that have the samples contained in the folder with the kit for sharing purposes.
I think it’s all good, i guess the reason it was played fast was because it was the way i must have sampled it in to the 2000xl. Back when i didn’t have too much memory, the ol speed up trick. Because i found some zip’s that i had when i got more memory and they are playing ok now.
Yep, that’s probably it LOL, I remember that 🙂
hey J
Is there a way we can load multiple programs from the mpc format into 1 group with using the Map feature in maschine?
No, you’d have to load the actual samples to the map
can Maschine read the .seq file ?
No it can’t just the pgm/kit files.
Quick question.
Like i have some multi sampled sounds that i have for the mpc. If i load them and they are on banks, and they fill up my groups. I can only pay them when i use the group(ex. Keys 1-16(a) 16-32(b) etc…). Is there away to just have them load up like an instrument so that I won’t have to switch banks?
If they are akp instrument files they will load to a pad, if they are akp/pgm kits they will load as a kit.
Duh, See this question has been asked, I would have to use the map i guess?
Indeed, the 4k saved actual instrument/keygroup files too, those load up like instruments in Maschine.
