Yo got this question a few times here at MT and wanted to show how to do it.
I basically show how you can fade out the volume without using the sample editor to actually fade a pattern.
This will work for any type of sound you want to fade out
This isn’t showing how to fade out the entire track, just how to automate the fading out of a specific sound

just what I was looking for! thanks!
Good job. How would you fade a whole song though?
No automation on the master/song, another feature many of us have been asking for lol.
I know this is an old thread. But it’s been 7 years – can you fade the master in Maschine 2? lol
Still no master fade out lol
Thanks fam, glad you liked it.
Yeah man I got a question – you got any WD40 to spray on that chair? lol
Jon, lol……We should chip in for a can of lube or a bean bag, lol.
Oh yeah, good tutorial Joe, luv bruh, luv,
That’s whasup fam lol, thanks.
Ha! You should see my chair man, I need a new one, joint got one arm on it and everything lol.
Dang homie, why buy a newchair when you canget new sounds? As long as it holds you in front of the screen you good, lol.
Ahahaha, that’s how I feel, been telling the wife I need a new one for over a year lol
Yo I been away with the fam for my daughter’s bday, just checked this vid when I got back and noticed the sound was off, surprised yall didn’t call me on that!
Anyway, I fixed the video and uploaded it properly so the sound matches like it should.
I missed that, lol.
Happy belated Birthday to your daughter Joe.
thanks! her bday is actually tomorrow, we just celebrated this past weekend because my mom’s is this weekend.
yo goood lookn SJ this is gooood to know!! Ive just been recently getting the hang of the modulators and this is definitely moving me in the right direction…!!!
Cool bro, glad to help!
Great T SJ. Was working on this part today and got stuck until I saw this tutorial.
Something cool will be like a quantized area for the automation.
yeah bro, we need more options with the automation lanes for sure, glad to help though!
i don’t have the sample option to add mod to the volume??
What do you mean you don’t have the option? Do you have a sample loaded and did you go down to the bottom where it let’s you show the automation?
Yeah i have it for sample sorry, but how can i do this with absynth 5?
Instead of adding sample volume mod, add the mixer level mod and do the same thing. I’ll have a video done here shortly to show how it’s done if you still need help.
hi – how do you do it directly from the sample editor? like say i have a sample on a pad that has some noise at the end of it….what i’ve been doing is doing the fade separately in pt – but i know there’s got to be a better way – thanks sj!
go into the sample edit screen, then from there you can set the start/end on the part you want to fade in or out and choose fade in or out from the audio edit options, sounds like a new video 🙂
yeah man! bring it on! where are the audio edit options?
press the “sample” tab then you can access them from the drop down menu to the right of the sample editor.
nice! i had no idea that was even there! I’ve never seen it before!
Word!
Interesting vid Joe – which I think illustrates how painful and slow it can be doing these simple fades.
I got very frustrated trying to create a fade-in spanning 32 bars (across 2 scenes). Gave-up in the end and thought it could wait until I bounced the part down in Cubase. Not ideal though. Hopefully one of the updates will address this 🙂
Yeah, there are more than one way to skin a cat 🙂 But trying to automate across two scenes…no go.
we need an automation lane in the arranger, so we can automate stuff across the whole performance easily…I would imagine something like that will come in the future though, hopefully
lol. Skinning a cat is kind of how it felt. Very painful
So currently, what would be the best option for a very gradual fade-in on a synth part (plug-in) spanning 32 bars across two scenes?
Please don’t say ‘DAW’…. hahaaa
OK….I won’t say it….. 😉
So back to the Daw and routing. lol
dear saint joe ,
How can I save the assignments via midi learn with macro. Every time I load the same preset from Reaktor only the default macro s are saved. Thanks !
are you talking about the group macro knobs? You either have to save the project or save the group, the macros aren’t saved with the preset. If you mean the plugin macro pages, you can save the sound or the module itself into maschine’s library.
I was strugling with automation like you in the video, seems like turning knobs works better then mouse clicking. I wish I could enter 2 points and Maschine would draw a line between them like a nice DAW does.
Yeah man, Maschine drawing automation is not great at all
Hi St Joe, just watched this video and have a question, i wish to raise the volume on one pad from no volume to gradually having more volume as the pattern goes on, i have managed to do this by adding the modulator “volume” but its on the sounds output channel, is this correct? i also see another option of automating the “sampler volume” in the modulation window but i have it working with the output kevel, is this right?
Thanks
In fact forget that, I’ve somehow deleted my edit, i’m on 2.2 so i dont know if that makes any difference, so basically i want to adjust the volume on one pad, the clap in this case, on one pattern, i want to gradually increase the volume as the pattern goes on, and then when it goes to the next pattern/ scene i want the automation to be reset back to normal, i wasn’t aware that automation went into the the next scene. hope you can help me out.
thanks.
Yeah you have it setup right, just remember to “reset” it at the end of your pattern, so if you want it off again, you can manually draw a modulation point to set that parameter to “off” Here’s a video that may help with that
https://maschinetutorials.com/how-to-automate-your-fx-on-and-off-between-patterns/
ok great ill check that out man, and my first question, whats the easiest way to do the volume automation for one sound, add a modulated and select volume?
Oh yeah, I thought you already did that part 🙂
Yep, you can automate the output of the specific sounds output.
You could also do it by hand, have it turned down to start, click shift+auto, then you can turn it up exactly how you want it. You can always go back and edit it if you need to as well.
thanks, i’ll mess about with it and give it another bash 🙂
