In this maschine tutorial I quickly show you how to drag and drop audio internally to save resources when using plugins in maschine
It’s pretty much the same as dragging out of maschine…just internally 🙂

Nice! Thanks Man, This helps alot!
no doubt fam!!
Great great !!
Man… am I the only one that thinks Maschine took the game to another level. I mean if you coming from the MPC world this thing is doing all the things us hardcore MP heads were saying I wish my MP could do this or that! I’m trying to imagine how 2.0 is going feel and look. Good job as usual SJ!
no…you not the only one lol, I come from the same background, and yes…this joint is crazy, and NO I can’t imagine what 2.0 will be like lol.
great – Thanks Saint Joe. So simple why hadn’t I figured that out? Cheers
No problem man, I bet you tired to drag the actual sound 🙂 that’s the common way most would think it was implemented since they say “internal drag and drop” I think it’s a little misleading myself, but glad the video helped!
So, SJ…. you click on the group and mute the other sounds within that group and then drag n drop?
@Russell Yes that´s important.
Maschine use the Master Output Signal when you make a Drag´n´Drop Audiofile. In the Background, Maschine played the hole Pattern and sampling it. When you got in this moment everything on like Bass or Drum, than you can hear it later on this File. Thats the Reason why SJ Mute the Rest within this Sound :o)
But SJ isn´t the same when I press Solo for this Sound I want to have?
You can solo the sound OR what I do, I just go into piano roll for the sound I want, works the same way. So if you are in piano roll (keyboard mode) for the sound you want to drag, you don’t have to mute or solo it, since it’s the only sound in focus 🙂
Okay thanks, PeeDeeSan! I see what you mean SJ. The piano roll somewhat solo the sound anyway….got cha! Can this be done with hardware sound modules as well?
DAAAH!!! You said it right in the video Joe! I didn’t evening catch it you said go to piano roll so it’s pretty much just that sound. Thanks guys!
No it won’t work with hardware modules, since the sound isn’t actually in Maschine, I will post a video of how I work with those as well….
my posting is sorta slow this week, out in LA meeting with NI 🙂
I’ll be back in a few days though so expect some more new stuff next week!
Good luck out in LA and bring home some goodies to share with the community. I told you a while back you was the man! Have a safe flight. PEACE.
Thanks fam, having fun, can’t wait to get back of course and get back to work! 🙂 Bout to go back over to the NI office in a couple hours…thanks for the well wishes!
My bad!!
Useful.
i’m trying to figure this out. i have an Absynth VST on my pad. and when i “drag and drop” it to a new pad the volume of that “bounced” file is lower than when the VST was playing. But it seems that when i turn op the volume of the “bounced” file to maximum it sounds more or less the same as the VST. do i always have to turn up the volume to max for the bounced files to get the same volume level as when a VST was playing? not really a problem but it would just… Read more »
Yeah , I’m having the same issue. When I bounce to audio the bounce sound sounds lower than the original. I don’t have any efx or aux going on. Any help?
Not sure man, is it an issue with any plugin or specific ones, only thing I can say is maybe turn normalize on in your audio export settings or normalize the sample after you drag it. Or you can just use resampling instead of drag and drop.
So your not having or seeing that issue? If not, I will look further to see if it’s a specific plugin. Thanks.
@cabbe not sure what is causing your problem unless you have effects on an aux channel. but you can always just hit normalize on that sample to bring it up to a proper level.
yeah I don’t have this issue but as flux said it may be a problem with fx/aux or something, if it’s drastically different I would report it in the beta bug tracker
i should probably investigate it a bit more with some other VST’s and such
but honestly i’m not really a big fan of the drag and drop feature. I get why it’s there and how it saves on the CPU…but it messes with my workflow. i know that it only takes seconds to bounce a new file if i change something in a VST but i find myself trying to stay away from drag and dropping because of it.
hmm maybe i just need to get used to it
word, it’s honestly not something I use at all, I don’t have a need for it, but for those that need to save on cpu it’s there 🙂
SJ, this was really helpful. This may help reduce all the crackling and sluggishness when I use plugins. I tried to report this problem on the bug tracker, but I can’t login! And NI (sadly) hasn’t offered me much in the way of customer service. If anyone reading this can report the crackling issue in 1.6 on the bug tracker, I’d appreciate it. I’ve tried everything!
G wiz
you don’t get NI support for a beta, you have to go through the bug tracker, check the forums to make sure you’re logging in with the proper information
is it just me? or do logic suuuuuuuuuck when it comes to trying to link it with maschine!
logic wont let you do nothin @ all man…..this s wack
Well AU plugins can’t send midi out so that’s a draw back, but you should be able to use the two standalone together via midi, not sure about routing audio that way though.
this cut down alot on CPU usage … since I was using Razor and Konakt and Kore in one project.
Thanks Joe!
Yessir! Definitely a great tool to have!
I tried dragging from Maschine to a track in live and it was audibly different than when I recorded the output of Maschine directly into Live’s track. It sounded way better in fact when I bounced to Live through routing.
What do you think it could be? I know I’m missing something.
Thanks Saintjoe!
I found it! Sorry Joe. It’s late…you know. I magically found the info I was lookin for by SEARCHING! My bad.
Lol, it’s all good man, glad you found it, I was just about to answer 🙂
This almost has to be your workflow as your computer ages and newer incredible plugins come out which need more juice. A good example of where you are screwed is with 3D gaming… There is no way to keep your GFX card current every 6 months with newer stuff. As someone mentioned above, a project with Kore and other plugins will start getting the click happening and for me personally, I get really distracted from this. I had no idea it was this easy to bounce your midi notes and plugin into a sound. The only drawback is if you… Read more »
Indeed. i personally haven’t run into any cpu issues, but this definitely helps save on the resources.
Its pretty easy with Kore2 if you get 8 VSTs switching through 8 presets with a quick turn of the knob and then back again. or having 2 lfos modulating the morph grid between those. Then again its not exactly smart to do this in this manner.. but its always fun to atleast try once
Yeah lol, I think it has more to do with different computer setups and such. I use a lot of plugins, including Kore 2 wit stuff stacked up 🙂
But yeah man, multi core maschine will be nice 🙂
this is a valuable one man!!!!
No doubt brotha 🙂
Thanks S.J for your tutorials, tips, and tricks of the trade, of the art of producing and editing in maschine. Though I am as a child in knowlege, and experience with this instrument, I must admit , your tutorials are the extra boost that I needed in order to tap into it and see my skills and abilitys growing .One day, when I grow up, I’m gona be just like you!! ( smile)…Thanks agian Man, peace out.
Hahahaha, glad to help fam! Glad you diggin the site?
Thank you Joe… Legend!!!
Glad to help fam!!
Hello
I have a huge problem with maschine. It uses all my cpu and stutters like hell. I run it 32 bit because I think I’ll lose some plugs running 64 bit. So I tried this bounce thing but I do something wrong: I bounce the part into another pad but I don’t hear it play when I switch off the original pad.
Make sure you are bouncing the audio and not the midi. Also remember you will need to actually put in a note to trigger the new audio sample.
video is not showing up?????
Thanks fam, try it now 🙂
Good lookin out man! Dragging within Maschine will definitely ease my processor load. PEACE.
no doubt fam, glad to help
