Hey what’s good MT Fam?
Just wanted to share a little tip on quickly creating new custom drum/percussion sounds in Maschine
You could even use this method for creating hits and stabs as well.
Maschine makes it easy to sample, and re-sample so I wanted to show a few workflows for layering your drums and creating new composite samples.
This video covers how it’s done via drag and drop as well, using an old technique for building up your sounds that I’ve used since back in my MPC days.
Of course if you have any questions feel free to ask.

No problem man.
cool video! how do you pad link?
Press pad mode button, and put them into the same link group.
This video is amazing, I’ve been doing dynamic drum processing on the kick. Thus I have izotope alloy 2 two loaded. I have a gate early followed by a compressor to get a really tight beefy kick. Obviously it takes up a lot of processing powered when you got a bunch of effects all over maschine samples, but now I can dump those down to a new track.
I assume this method is post- processing? Meaning, after effects?
Again, fantastic video
Yeah resampling is really a great way to build up your own drums and save processing power indeed. And it’s very quick 🙂
Resampling will just sample the output so if you have them in a group and set it to resample that group, it will sample the entire sound, effects and all.
Can you drag and drop or easily resample down to a new pad on the same kit? Does that make sense? Ie, I have three layered kicks in kit 1 and want my new sample to appear in slot 4?
Yep you can do that too, just set it to the groups output, and you’ll capture whatever is playing in the group, for example, the 3 kicks.
That’s real dope!! Thanks SJ!
No problem fam, glad you dig it!
Do you spend a lot of time making your custom samples?
Most of the time I just layer or tweak them as I”m making the track as opposed to setting apart time to create new sounds for my tracks. Unless I’m specifically designing new sounds for a product or something I generally just make them as I go.
